Im all for sticky tape on my top loaders. Would much rather have them secured tightly in the top loader by sticky tape than have the possibility that the card moves and the top edge gets damaged because the team bag is not secured properly.

Dont know about anyone else but i find the operation of a pair of scissors to open a top loader pretty simple.:p

LONG LIVE THE STICKY TAPE!

lol so I will put you down for option 2

as long as my card gets to me in the condition I bought it in I dont really care..

otherwise people will start charging for a new toploarder on-top of shipping price

If we all took care of them all top loaders would be like new being sent around, would be no extra cost just a bit of extra effort

Yeah it bugs me, and I tend not to do it personally (sleeve -> toploader -> team bag with 2 decoys for rigidity), but I don't begrudge those that do because I understand its more economical.

Besides, even Panini tape their toploaders when sending out redeemed cards.

Its not about keeping the top loader for displaying your card, but imagine these two scenarios:

2. You come home from a shocking day at work and find a bubble mailer in the letter box mixed in with a few bills, you trudge inside and open the bills, get angry because electricity is nearly making you get a second mortgage, then you remember the bubble mailer, you open it and find inside this plastic case covered in sticky residue with 5 layers of tape on the end, you still cannot make out the card, you get through the third layer and there is hope you will have it open before dinner, but alas, that last little bit you tore of is stuck to your shirt and then you look down and find a little stuck to the carpet, you eventually get the damm thing open and check the prize out inside, but you say meh and throw it on the pile with the rest.

This is what a lot of my days are like!

I understand the reusing toploaders to save the cost, but it can be annoying. A couple of pieces of tape just to secure everything might be ok - I've had some that have been completely mummified in tape and have taken me 10 minutes to get to the card inside!

As someone who doesn't buy a lot of toploaders, I appreciate when I get one in the mail that I can still use to display cards!

by the same logic, we can just keep re-circulating the dodgy ones?
doestn bother me in the slightest if i open my bubble mailer and my card isnt displayed perfectly. any used toploader (even with minimal tape residue) goes straight into a pile to be shipped off at a later date. when that pile gets too big, i throw some out. theyre just worthless toploaders...
sounds like you sit there and unwrap all the tape? why not just cut the top, slip the card out. done.
i do like the way you worded your poll tho.

Electrical tape is the best to use, leaves fuck all residue. Followed by masking tape or scotch tape.

My biggest problem with SOME sticky tape is that is is almost impossible to take of not that it leaves the residue lol.

Which is annoying when they stick a few cards in the top loader and you have to use scissors to cut the top piece of tape open with a risk of hitting the cards.

Basically the card should be as easy to pull out as it was to protect it lol.

It can be a little annoying/ugly when you get them and they have HEAPS of tape on them, but if they get like that I just throw em out. But for the most part what's the big deal, they are there to protect the card, I just get em & then use em to send other cards out....... never use em for displaying cards so it doesn't bother me.

I do much prefer scotch tape though as it's easy to slice with a knife (or even your fingernail), other tape can be hard to do this with.

Hahaha this is a funny thread. To anyone who said they dont want tape, would you like me to screen shot this and remind you about it when you make your paypal claim? Or abuse the seller?

If you're that keen on collecting buy one touches, if you're not or too tight to shell out $2-$3, quit complaining. Simple.

Top loaders will be used forever, good, average and bad condition. It's protection, not a display item.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that they would prefer no tape at all! They are talking about an 'alternative' to the tape. Like team bags, or wrapping it in paper!

It seems most people in here that are 'pro tape' are comparing it to no tape at all??!!??!!

OP states he wants to ban tape, and has a pile of "useless" top loaders. How can they be useless when they are used to protect cards???

Im not 100% sure but im pretty sure it states in the forum rules to secure top loader with tape.

IMO if it aint broke dont fix it.

Top loaders with tape are a tried and proven method of shipping cards safely.

If OP just stated "please use only minimal tape" i would not even be typing this bro, to say he wants to ban it is just down right silly. drob50

Wth does bart sitting at the burlesque house have to do with anything. Still made me laugh but.

EDIT: i get it now. Ban!

I have no problems with tape on top-loaders when I get them, adds to the anticipation when a card arrives the time
it takes to un-sticky tape it.
I have hundreds and hundreds of varying condition top-loaders now though!

Chill pill people, i understand the art of Sarcasm can be lost on the internet, but some people face palm. I was frustrated yesterday after opening a mail day that is all, I know they are worth $0.05 each, the point is not the cost, nor the fact that the ones covered in tape and sticky residue still protect cards, but why cover them and make them ugly for when you open a package with on of them they are liked they have been pulled out of a Donkey's ass.

Doesn't the site rules say NOT to use tape over the toploader? I'm pretty sure it says this could put the card at risk of getting some tape glue on it???

I'm sure someone not as lazy as I can check:thumbsup:
