The Official LA LAKERS thread!!

the lakers lost game 2 due to one fact...poor officating and some terrible calls on kobe to get him in foul trouble! even the commentators commented on how bad they were, props to boston for winning and ray allen on a superb shooting night! unfortunatley the way the finals are structered the celts will win as they have basically recaputered home court....thats the way the cookie crumbles....

there were terrible calls for both teams you can't put it down to calls against one guy!

Thats true but Kobe having to sit really gave the C's a big edge and tht push call they make against kobe on Rondo was a very harsh 1. Rondo falls and points and its done.

and the soft ones on KG weren't harsh?

Or on Ray in Game 1?

just pointing out that either they should call em as playoff basketball fouls or soft fouls, be consistent so the players know where they are at. I'm sure sheed will still test the boundaries though

While its not a spoiler thread, its not half obvious who won by the activity on either the Boston or LA thread

Cant believe Ray Allen missed all of his shots .

Couldn't help but feel a little karma coming on when that ball went off KG around the same point it did in game 2, only this time they got the review right. Then it just went overboard.

Think there was 2 more reviews with less than a minute thirty to go, it's good to see cause you want the right calls but at the same time, it's a little pointless when they can't pin a foul on a player that they missed that causes another to lose the ball out of bounds, I think the whole reviewing method needs to be reviewed.

1 down, 2 to go:v:

We got Home Court back! :D

I have to stay grounded, I don't see us ending this in Boston, would love to be proven wrong, but it's good to know that it get's decided in LA at the very least on our terms. Just to emphasise the point;

I'D LOVE TO BE PROVEN WRONG!!! ;)

Whatever happens, Pierce 'ain't coming back to LA' apparently. All good.

A) He might not have to... ;)

B) He might have to but at that stage who cares if he does or doesn't. I didn't notice him out there today so I'm not sure he even made it back to Boston.

Derek Fisher doing his thing again. Some ill-advised shots from Kobe, lucky the Celts were shooting just as bad!

He made some huge shots down the stretch. I gotta defend Kobe a little here, I thought they relied on him a little too much for awhile there, which in turn brought some bad forced shots and reminded me a couple seasons ago. Was good to see everyone chip in to close it out.

I'll be honest though, with their bench firing towards the end there, we got a little lucky with the point spread from their starters but at the same time I thought Fish did a solid effort on Allen and Pierce was kept quiet although his foul trouble didn't hurt either.

We still led the majority of the game and closed it out nicely. Game 3 was a must win, going down 1 - 2 with 2 more games in the Garden would be a pretty bad position to be in.

Bring on Game 4!

Just saw this pic on the net...can any of you Lakers fans explain this?

There's a pretty solid image manipulating program out there called Photoshop.

You can make stuff like this;

Or this...

Mmmm nah its legit i reckon, its selling on a straight shooting website of sporting prints...and judging by Bird's reaction and Magic's joking face I'd say its fair dinkum

Hey it could be real, knowing Magics sense of humor and respect for the guy, it could be him having a laugh. I've never seen it before though TBH which is why I would have thought it's Photoshopped.

I don't think, I know. ;)

That's not to call game 4, but that's a must win for them like this one was for us. Still confident we can take 1 more in the Garden, friday is huge for both teams, Celtics take it, they keep their hopes alive, Celtics drop it, and they're in the deep end.

Even though we have 2 more games coming up in Boston, the truth is, the pressure is all on them. :)

I know Chaddy's been very critical of the Fish throughout the last few seasons, if not Fishers entire career, can only speak on what I've seen, and while alot of it has been due, I think today is one of those days that shows why some of us have so much faith in this guy. Fair call he's slow on defence, streaky on offence but today in Boston, not only did he do a stand up job shutting down Ray Ray aka Mr NBA 3 Point record during a Finals game aka He got more Long Range Game than Mike, he came through in the clutch late in that fourth to top it off, over and over again. He hit some HUUUUGE Shots! :worthy:

I've decided that my next LA jersey will be my first D Fish jersey and I'm currently on the hunt. Respect due to this guy and what he's done for the Lakers organisation, he is pure heart, this guy has come up huge for us on many an occaision and I think we as fans take that for granted at times. He goes missing at times, I won't argue there, he's gone fishing if you will, but today he was PURE VETERAN LEADERSHIP!!!

And now for a throw back refernece I brought out during last season finals, you generation nexters won't understand...

Very fair call. Specifically, I have been critical of Fisher's ability to defend the quicker point guards in the league. I have never questioned his ability to come up big on the offensive end, but the reason we are generally in a hole is due to poor D down the other end!

I will gladly pat him on the back for his fantastic D on Ray Allen in game 3...his D, particularly off the ball, was inspirational. One swallow doesn't make a summer, but the Fisher/Allen Kobe/Rondo defensive set up seemed to work...well done Phil!

Well its tied 2-2, not much to say about this one Smeltics D was great in the last 5MINS in the 4TH Midget and the Spitting Baby killed us inside and out......Still this GM and GM3 the officiating has been F&^KING S&^THOUSE!!!!!!Both ends!!!

Where has Gay allen been???Since is GM2 effort he went from Jesus to Bugaloo from Above the Rim!!!

Ron STOP shooting and DEFEND!!!!
Kobe well the dude was on fire!!!...Still no D and poor O in the 4TH killed us alot!!!

Phil Jackson Teams in GM1&5 are 47-0.......AGAIN GM5 is a MUST win for us its going back to LA weather Paula Pierce wants to or not.......

Tough way to go down. Once again some bad calls in the last 2 minutes namely the foul on Kobe for the and1 with Pierce which was above the restricted zone (as Kenny and the boys called it, should have been a charge).

But Lakers still would have been facing it tough. Tony Allen needs credit for his job on KB.
