The Official BOSTON CELTICS thread

Well everyone seems to want to compare players to Jordan....

Well he may have not been MJ but here is my take on it.

He should of been but wasn't perennial all defensive team....(sound familiar?)

He could of pushed the 30pg mark most seasons and clearly stood up playoff time....(sound familiar?)

Just about the best square up jump shooter I've seen in the NBA...(sound familiar?)

Had great hops with the ability to finish with the dunk over top of people...(sound familiar?)

Was team leader and captain looking to make some more ordinary players around him better....(sound familiar?)

Was a SG (sound familiar?) LOL

Anyone get my point?

Nearly 16 years to the day of Reggie's death and just like Len Bias it set the club back over a decade. Reggie passed away frankly because he was a gym rat and didn't listen to the docs :-(

He may be forgotten by a lot of NBA fans but us Celt fans clearly know the talent we lost 16 years ago. One of my joys is watching his coming out party at the Garden in his rookie year going coast to coast from a steal, give and go for a nasty slam over those purple ****ers.. Ahhh god bless friday night ABC basketball....

Re: Rumor: Bowen May End Up In Boston

this would be a real coup if the celts can add him to their bench! another quality defensive stopper of his calibre would further cement the celts as the premium defensive squad in the league

This would be GREAT for the Celtics, deep team and must be the favourites for the coming season with a healthy KG, PLEASE be 100% KG!

Dominant thread this Boston Celtics one =D>:v::D:):worthy::cool::thumbsup:

Celts just signed Sheldon Williams. A former top 5 draft pick and being a former Blue devil a higher basketball IQ than most. Well at least double that of Tony Allen.

Reports are that Daniels is still coming and Ainge is arranging pieces for a three way team sign and trade. Scal will most probably be moved now, he could help a lot of teams and has an expiring contract for the 2010 FA season.

Where this leaves BBD I dont know but if he can't find a team to pay him and we get him back we will be STACKED this year. Moving Scals contract frees up a bit as he was overpayed and still leaves room for a Bowen to walk in on the cheap for a title shot at Kobe.

No way Hudson gets a roster spot now over Giddens or Walker.

Celts press conference in the next hour.

Expected to say we have signed Big Baby to a two year deal on lower than what he thought he was worth. Probably with an early option I'd say too.

Still it bolsters our front line all that much more.

Glad BBD is staying as he is over valued and we would of either done a sign and trade and not got back an as good player or lost him to a higher offer for nothing.

But BBD is good enough to take alot of minutes, right? I like how he plays for his size/shape...

All depends on match ups. Some games he will see major minutes and other less. We have seen this over the last two years where he was in favour some games over Powe and others Powe over BBD. Adding Sheed and a healthy KG along with Williams and Daniels means more versatility. This is BBD's chance to take his role, bide his time, win another ring and go somewhere else a multiple NBA champ at a young age and look for more minutes and importantly to him more money after the 2010 FA sweepstakes.

Will be hard for teams to defend the c's front court now, how hard will it be if KG and Perk were in the paint together? And even if Perk was the only only one in the paint, we all know Wallace can knock down the long shot quite easily.

Perk in the paint, KG 15ft out hitting jumpers and Sheed from THREE! This is certainly going to extend the defense of most teams. Will open up the lane for Rondo to penetrate and Pierce to take his choice of shots. And waiting on the wing is none other than Ray Ray just quietly :-D

I've heard 6 mill for 2 yrs for BBD - Now we need a guard or 2...is Daniels actually signed yet?? Has been a holdup there I think....

Daniels isn't signed yet but they have come to an agreement. Ainge has been trying to do a deal so he didn't have to pay more for him but if they have to in the end they will they have stated. Then all we have to do is decide what to do with Scal, TA, Giddens, Walker, Starbury and Hudson. Not enough roster space to go around.
