The Official BOSTON CELTICS thread

Excellent signing. Sheed off the bench brings, low post scoring (although not as much as he used to) another half decent shotblocker, rebounding, but most importantly - defensive intelligence (Something Mikki Moore didn't have), and with his 3 pt skills, the ability to stretch the D.
He is also LOOONG! And his wife is hot.

Don't like our chances of keeping BBD now - someone more in the know $ wise might be able to help here. Also looking unlikely we will keep Powe either....
Grant Hill would be a great addition too - can u believe he has NEVER won a playoff series!!!!

Powe has already been cut, was done about a week ago and although he was disapointed Ainge has let him continue to use our doctors and organisation and hasn't shut the door on him if he comes back alright and can't get a roster spot anywhere.

BBD is gone now imo, but getting Wallace was a great move as that was inevitable and saves us having to fill the hole when FA's have already gone to other teams. This team is about winning now so why not bank on vet talent to get that ring or two. Wallace is a nut on court but far from a nut in the locker room and brings toughness and range. Watch Perk benifit even more this year with KG and Wallace drawing defenders out to their mid range game.

IF Grant Hill has another year like last year its a no brainer. Having Doc as our coach might just be the kicker that gets that signing, Hill doesn't need the money.

Either JR Giddens or Bill Walker are gone now and I'd prefer Walker myself.

Gabe Pruitts spot just got safer unless he gets outplayed by the rookie in the summer league.

Not much to lose on todays signing, just the MLE and for only 2 years to win now and not cost us cap wise down the track. Puts us over the cap and paying a fair bit of luxury tax but the owners want rings. The kicker in the Wallace signing was Ainge telling him that signing him wont deter the team from making further additions to boost the team. Certainly more to come with JR, BBD, Marbury?, Moore, Powe to go and no rookie addition.

A great chance for a guy with a reputation for being lazy to play with the motivator KG and a team that has its eyes on the prize.

Last year Brian Scalabrine off the bench first up.......next year Sheed... simple.

Now who fills the spot that BBD leaves is the big question. With he and Powe gone that big banger role needs filling and although Sheed is big he isn't exactly a banger.

The onus is on the guys to put winning before the money so it will be interested to see how BBD plays it but the disappointing thing is Starbury is already set for life but it seems he thinks he is worth more. I would of thought winning and the calibre of team he got to see might be a bit swaying to sign on the cheap all things considering. We took the risk and showed faith in him when he could still be just not be playing at all.

Powe just might be back after all mid year if he can't get a contract and what a cheap great addition he would be considering he knows the system, etc etc already.

Mike Sweetney is just a slower, fatter and older version of BBD....

I missed the whole sweetney thing, did they sign him too?

news from Comcast SportsNet New England

UPDATE: It is also my belief that Grant Hill will sign with Boston after meeting face-to-face with Doc Rivers by the end of the week. Glen Davis could be gone to San Antonio, as they are prepared to offer their mid-level slot, which it is my understanding that Boston will not match. Davis is a restricted free-agent and any offer he receives can be matched by the Celtics within 7 days.

So Sheed is set to don the Green and White next season. :-k

And I thought it was impossible to 'dislike' this team more than I already do.

You better come strong with it this season Celtics, don't leave us hanging again now. ;)

C'mon G join the bandwagon!!!!

Now we pray that Hill holds up for a season like last year. Deal still isn't a done deal but the reports of the last few days look like it is.

Tony Allen must be wrapt with how the pre season has gone, he is still a Celtic......for now LOL

If we trade Scal, Allen for some more vet help we could be the oldest team in history. Albeit the deepest one as well though....

Lol bring back Jordan or Parish to make sure you have enough vets ;)

Also, according to the AZ Republic, New York offered Grant Hill "the option of a one-year, $5 million contract or a three-year, $10 million deal."

Go on Grant chase the money if you have to. NY don't care, after all they are paying over 23M in luxury tax alone. But if you want to win come play for us and sure you can still pay your electric bill and buy brand name groceries.

As for BBD, his options for a spot are drying up and he may be forced to sign a one year deal with us and try his luck next year when there will be more FA money around for those that lose the Wade, Bron etc lottery.

He isn't worth what he thinks he is anyway and he is finding out the hard way I think.

If he went there it'd be the dumbest decision by a player since....well since Turkoglu went to Toronto a few days ago!!!

Actually it'd be worse than that cos Toronto will be better than NY

Marbury has been shown the door and is chasing the money in Europe by all reports over playing in the NBA.

Starbury Is Done In Boston; Eyeing Europe

Stephon Marbury told The Post last night he won't be returning to the Celtics and is eyeing Europe stronger than ever. . . .

The Celtics have told Marbury they are not going to re-sign him after netting Rasheed Wallace.

And I can't believe people are even discussing if Perk keeps his starting job, not surprisingly most aren't Celts fans. So far in polls 2500+ Celts fans have voted and Perk is at 86% as the preferred starter. Perk was a beast last year and showed up most opposition centers without the help of KG too for a lot of it too I might add and STILL gets no respect. Is it simply because he doesn't have that 'potential' tag? Don't know what potential is if you don't do anything or live up to it??

Give Perk the starting spot!

Lets hope BBD plays musical chairs, the music stops and he hasn't got a seat left to sit on. Come get another ring Big Baby and then take those rings and command more cash later on.

Haha I can't figure out whether your joking or not, but either way. The Sheed headlines been out all week man! :D

Just a friendly jab mate, and I know you know your stuff but the guy clearly hasn't been here for that long. I didn't think that was the best way for a long time member to welcome him. ;)

And it also may be a statement; ' Sheed is Coming'... look out kinda thing.

Anyway back OT. Boston Suck, with or without Sheed.
