its always difficult to keep a young player hungry for success when they have had lots of it very early in their careers... BBD is prob thinking, ive won a championship im gonna chase the money now... rather than thinking, ill take slightly less to stay on a fantastic team with the potential to win another championship in the nex few years while their window is open
look at the late wayman tisdale... superstar in college, gets picked up by rubbish indiana and then toils in obscurity and poor teams for his entire career and only once did he go deep into the playoffs with phoenix in 94/95
either way the money boston gives BBD or someone else gives him, he's set for life... championships however dont grow on trees
agreed it doesnt grow on trees but many nba teams would not think twice about giving him a MASSIVE payday...
Imagine the Lakera sign him just to piss off the C's
I can see him fitting him in nicely alongside chris paul or durant....
If OK sign him, allows them to draft a small and not have to worry about a big man...
re OKC: it deosnt necessarily mean they dont need a big man if they pick him up. he's wide, but he definitely not big (6'7" or 6'8" if im not mistaken?)... OKC would need a quality centre or a pass first point guard as westbrook is more a combo guard from what i know of him...
He played as a centre for alot of the playoffs with Perk in foul trouble/resting, and I'm 100% sure if OKC took him, he'd start at c with Green at PF. Westbrook may be a combo gaurd, and if I am not mistaken, sg is his natural position, but he is like randy foye where he can play both positions, and made his name during his rc season playing as a pg.
if they did that im sure they would be the smallest nba lineup in the league
That may be the case, but who said it wouldn't work? I guess all will be revealed in good time! Fun to speculate in the mean time though!
thats exactly why i love the offseason so much.... all the speculation and rumors... its cool :v:
Grousbeck also said the stated intentions of Ainge and Rivers to sign a veteran free agent or two this summer are not hollow.
The checkbook, he said, will be open for the right player, regardless of luxury tax ramifications.
"We’re planning to look for ways to improve our team," Grousbeck said. "We’re willing to invest in the right way. If it’s the right situation and the right player, then we’ll do it.
"I think we all have someone in mind right now," he said of some of the names that are about to become free agents. "We’re willing to consider all sorts of ways if it means winning Banner 18."
Hopefully that open cheque book pays for powe, rondo and bbd to stay! Who else would the c's add to their roster to improve? Rumours have it starbury may be moving on also for more $ elsewhere.
I wouldn't be surprised. Starbury showed some good offense and playmaking in limited minutes. He's obviously rusty and not in the best conditioning right now - but he still has game.
I'd love to see him starting somewhere else.
The Bucks maybe?
Haha not sure that's a great fit for them.
Starbury, Redd, Bogut, Villanueva.
A combined defensive effort of 1 man haha.
Rumor: Rondo and Allen to Phoenix
Written by 17Banners
Trade rumor out of Phoenix: Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo for Amare Stoudemire, Leandro Barbosa, and the 14th overall pick. Source: sports.ktar.com
Not sure if this is entirely speculation, but it is being talked about (Gambo & Ash) on the radio as I write this. No sources mentioned, so take it as such. They did mention that Boston initiated the proposal, and that the Suns have not made a comment on it as of yet.
On the surface, I don't like the trade. And I think most Celtics fans would feel the same way. On the flip-side, Phoenix fans are calling in, saying that Amare alone is worth Rondo and Allen. My question - where the hell would Perk play? Unless there's more to this, it makes little sense for the C's. However, this is the type of haul that Ray Allen's expiring contract, and another piece or two (not Rondo, by the way), could bring.
