I don't really think that "collectors" (or at least people like us with a specific interest) are necessarily the main target market for trading card manufacturers right now.
Certain sets are aimed at the kids' market, and that's OK, but they are also going to buy into the more expensive sets and reduce the number of high-end cards available to collectors.
Yes, the hard-core collector is a dying breed, but how many packs are ripped open by kids who don't actually "collect" and how many numbered cards wind up destroyed (by our standards).
Collectors seem to be an after-thought that keeps the industry chugging along while other markets are explored.

Yep, I haven't been able to afford a Knights membership for 2015 yet, with buying a house recently. Hopefully I will be able to at one stage, but $85 for an international membership (basically a cap and a scarf) is a pretty tough ask.

Maybe it's not as many as you think, I believe there was a 2005 case share a while back....

Youll be be suprised champ ive herd they charge up to $45 a card and rising pretty quickly i just wonder if the legends know how much these cards are selling for ???

Guys thanks for all your input, just thought i'd let you know, footycards have said they can't replace the card unfortunately but have offered me a full refund which I think I will take up, so not the ideal outcome, but at least they have been good enough offer the refund. Wonder what will end up happening with the card from there.

The main thing is your not in a loss, all sounds fair.

So does this mean only 24 signature cards will be in circulation?

I would imagine it will go back up for sale, what number was it Richard?

I am guessing they will try and sell it after I send it back, hopefully they advertise the poor quality of the sig though now that they know about it so doesn't happen to anyone else by surprise. I think it was #24 will double check when i get home and confirm.

That is still poor form they should have back up copies i hope they learn from this mistake and move forward.

Don't think they could since the numbers were printed rather then stamped, but yes hopefully in future they can replace rather then simply refund

We want all of our collectors to be happy with our products so we were more than happy to offer Richard a refund through @FootyCards.com.au

Overall the majority of collectors who managed to secure one of our cards have given us a lot of positive feedback and are really happy with the cards they have received.

In saying this we have learnt a lot of valuable lessons and we will certainly take them on board for whats ahead.

Regal Trading Cards - For the Collector.

Great response from Regal. A lesson learned from this thread is we should all go about feedback in a constructive manner. No need to bash the company before approaching them first. Everyone on this site has the right to express their opinions but a wave of negativity does nobody any favors.

I have not bought any of the cards but am in favor of a company working with the collector and hope Regal take on board some of the member's ideas.

I don't want to turn this thread into a shit fight but I have to say the negativity especially in a lot of Rugby league posts over the past few weeks has been a little off putting. I've even had a few people mention this to me on the side and I tend to agree with them.

We have someone like Regal engaging with collectors here and 49 out of 50 of there collectors were happy with what they got, but because 1 person wasn't this equated members saying that he was being ripped off and he was dudded.

Even with the ESP numbering delays, people were quick to attack them when the reason for the delays was unfortunate but will result in people getting a good product in the end.

People are entitled to their opinions and that's what message boards are for, but the tone over the past month or 2 has had a real nasty edge to it.

Lets hope it improves over the next few weeks/months.

Well said mate. I don't have the words to express what a solid statement that is. There's a lot sh*t and happenings in the world to derive pleasure from pulling people up on, 1 dodgy signature isn't one of them.

Yep mate double checked its number 24.

Must have been struggling at the end I wonder how #25 looks

I don't think they were necessarily signed in numerical order given he started doing G.Langlands for 6 cards and they aren't numbered 1-6, so really could of been anywhere from 7th to 25th

I have #03 and that's g.langlands so yea who knows could have been any order

I feel for Richard as he misses out on a card that he was keen to have in his collection, I would have been put out if it had happened to me. But.. well done to Regal and Footycards for helping a collector out.

On Regal I thought the overall experience was positive and I look forward to future product. On the positive;

1. Regal produced a quality product and secured high end signatures for a decent price
2. The build up to the release raised interest and kept us intrigued.
3. Regal engaged the consumer directly and continues participate with us even if selective.

4. They are monitoring our feedback here and other social media. Showe they are interested in what we think, willing to learn and adapt and looking to a longer presence in this market. I welcome this rather than having one player market.
5. Packaging and delivery method was better than I expected and delivery was included in price advertised.
6. Low number release and available to collectors first and not allowing multiple purchases gave us all a chance

On the negative ;

1. maybe withheld details although I get they had a marketing plan and they executed on it. Not a concern for me personally

2. Payment options caused some collectors to miss out. Could have cost one of us the #1 cards. I know my transaction was delayed cause I had to reprocess my transaction as I had to rethink whether I wanted to use credit or DD. Would have been useful to know options upfront either in Regal's communication or in Tradingcards site prior to checkout.

3. Number allocation policy disclosure. Obviously collectors want the best chance or at least be informed.

On the Langlands signature and in particular the one Richard received, yeh I would have initially been bummed if I received it. I would have gone through the same thought process and disappointment. But taking a step back I guess a guarantee from Regal or the legend may have been sufficient for me but in writing so if I wanted one day to sell I would have a chance on ROI. Also the card shows some character and an indication of the his growing frailty. I would also like to see what #23 and #25 sigs look like. When all is said and done #23,#24,#25/25 could be the most valuable cards if they end up being the last official cards he signs. Please take my last comment as a what/if scenario only, I wish our legend the best of health for many years to come.

All in all a good product with great legends at a reasonable price to collectors. I am sorry to have a good OZCT collector miss out but money back is reasonable if no replacement option was available.

I look forward to more high end cards and hope Richard gets in first on the next release.
