Just had a good contest with Aussie. Had trouble stopping LeBron but he didn't have much help. End result, blowout - but kudos for not giving up mate.

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Seriously... ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

This game is really starting to sh!t me to tears, actually not having fun playing it anymore. Am I getting raped every game by the officiating and the general play because I use Lebron a bit?! While Im happy to take the lose against Jimbo, especially considering I gave up at the end of the 3rd, I didn't deserve to lose by 30+!!! If I even went near a player in a 76ers jersey I got called for a foul! Nearly every shot they fouled on, hard or soft went in for the coming 3 point play! Why have sliders in defense options if the computer doesn't fking use them! I had help defense maxed out and can only recall one time help defense came. Im gonna move the PS3 back out next to the modem, lag or something is not allowing me to switch players quick at all.

So effing frustrated. If I hadn't committed to season 2 I wouldn't been joining now! (Don't take that as I wont be active or anything.)

Just want the game to work how it is suppose too! Had Lebron blowing layups un manned near the basket yet Iggy would get in a$$ shots with 3 defenders around him in the paint constantly!! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Jimbo, you have really learnt the game well! Certainly will be watching out for you in season 2 too be giving Digeze, Ben and Nick a run for their money!

Oh, and with the rant, I play a fair bit in Association at Veteran or whateva level and don't have half the trouble I do in online with a sh!thouse team!!!!!

Not trying to take anything away from you mate, just really, really frustrated, took everything I had not to smash my control into the TV or turn the PS3 off.... Lucky I try and be a good sport I suppose!! Key word being TRY!

No offence taken man I've had games where I have been that frustrated too.

I can't remember everything that happened in the game, but from the ones you said - specifically about the 3 point plays. Most of my 3 point plays were with Chris Paul, and that's because you let him get a step on you and then tried to block him from behind.

He's rated too highly and is way too quick to stop when he's already blown past you on the way to the cup.

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Received feedback from two more teams tonight taking the total feedback to 26 teams.

Beertank preferred Sunday night and Brandon (Houston) said he can't do Mondays but Sundays should be OK.

It's starting to look like the Sunday night is edging ahead of the other alternatives.

Hmm, also just got feedback from jkeefy and he can't do Sunday next week at all :(

That's true. With 30 players, if you can even get a time which suits 20 people I'd say your doing well.

Anyway just played Spurs had a good game overall. Let my bench play for a while, maybe should've left Dalembert in there as he had 14 points, 10 boards and 8 blocks but gave Brezec a run and he rewarded me with 5 points in 2 minutes on 2/2 FG and 1/1 FT! Haha go Primo!

I've only got 3 games, left - hopefully I can finish in single digits for losses, that would be pretty cool. I've come to terms with the fact that I may finish #4th in the East and find a tough match-up in Vivo, but whatever happens happens.

It is still ridiculous that currently the last playoff team in the East has a record of 0.684% while the last in the West has .352% (or .250% based on actualy % but division puts .250% as 2nd seed).

This season has been fun though, definitely a learning curve for me as I've only had a PS3 since November and only been playing 2K10 for a a few months maybe 3.

I have to say I definitely let 2 games get away from me that I should have won, just blew my head and made a bad decision in another.

I guess that's what inaugural seasons are for though, making mistakes haha.

---------- Post added 19-02-2010 at 03:23 AM ----------

Also - just looking at season 2. Is 30 games what most people want? With 30 teams it just doesn't seem like very many games, only playing everyone once.

---------- Post added 19-02-2010 at 03:37 AM ----------

Last query - can you make it for season 2 the top eight teams advance in the order of winning % from each conference.

Not the division leaders as the top 3? Because I was just checking out the teams for each league, and in the Northwest division in the Western Conference there is Ben, Ranga and myself.

With only 3 new members in the Western conference it's clear that the 3 of us will be major players in the West, and judging by season 1 in the Western Conference (for example) it's silly that teams who do well get killed by this Division Leader playoff spot rule.

I contest that the order be the top 8 teams, after all the NBA doesn't even put the division leaders as the top three anymore, so why should we??

At the end of the day where you are positioned in the league or conference seems to be important, and if these little things are going to impact upon the league so dramatically I would have taken more care to look at all the divisions and choose a team where there were no players I didn't think I could beat.

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Yeah im with you there mate about the positioning in the order of winning % from each conference, not really a fan of division positioning :)

Also how many games would you reckon then? It'd have to be 60 then to play twice to make it fair or would you only play your conference twice and other conference once?

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

I think I still like the idea of top of each division, but that still means there are 5 more teams for the best record to move into the other playoff spots. Maybe still rank all the conference by their record, but the top 3 division leaders make it through automatically? No point having divisions if there is no difference to having 1 large division.

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

I too like the Division leading aspect. It is per NBA and gives some lower ranked teams something encouraging to aim for.

From wiki:

Following the NBA regular season, eight teams in each conference qualify for the playoffs and are seeded one to eight.

The team that has the best record in each of the three divisions in each conference is declared division champion. The three champions, and the one other team in the conference with the best record are seeded one through four by their records. This guarantees that the division champions will be no lower than fourth seed, and also ensures that a conference's two best teams (by record) are ranked as the top two. Of the remaining eleven conference teams, the four with the best records are seeded fifth through eighth based on their records.

In the event that two teams end up tied for the same seed, the following tiebreakers are employed except if the one team that is not the division winner has the same overall record as a division winner and the tie breaker they still would get the lower seed as division championship acts as tie-breaker in this scenario:[1]

Head-to-head
Division record (if the teams are in the same division)
Conference record
Record vs. Playoff teams, own conference
Record vs. Playoff teams, other conference
Net points, all games
These seedings are used to create a bracket that determines the match-ups throughout the playoffs (unlike other leagues, such as the NHL, in which each round's match-ups are based on the seeds of the remaining teams). The first round of the playoffs, or Conference Quarterfinals, consists of four match-ups in each conference based on the seedings (1-8, 2-7, 3-6, and 4-5). The four winners advance to the second round, or Conference Semifinals, with a match-up between the 1-8 and 4-5 winners and a match-up between the 2-7 and 3-6 winners. The two winners advance to the third round, or Conference Finals.

Each round is a best-of-seven series. Series are played in a 2-2-1-1-1 format, meaning the team with home-court advantage hosts games 1, 2, 5 and 7, while their opponent hosts games 3, 4, and 6, with games 5-7 being played if needed. The NBA Finals are played in a 2-3-2 format, meaning the team with home-court advantage hosts games 1, 2, 6 and 7, and their opponent hosts games 3, 4 and 5. The home-court advantage is determined in both rounds by record regardless of seed.

Yeah we'll have a tough division and conference mate, but if you, Ranga and I all get a great record and are close for the division lead (I'm not so sure I'll be up there depending on the draft, but appreciate everyone believing I'm a star :D), then we'll all have a great record and all make the playoffs regardless. I suppose that might mean we could be ranked 1st, 2nd and 5th? Gooing by Michael's above post (and assuming we finish 3 top records), but even in that case we don't play each other in round 1, and 2 of us couldn't match up until the Western Conference Finals. So I don't really think it's much of a worry. I'd be more concerned actually if we had a conference full of new players whom we don't know how they play! I like that we have a more "known" conference.

When might we know our draft position? Or is this contingent on knowing a draft time?

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Yes, Draft positions will be generated once we lock in the draft time.

Unfortunately, once you lock in a draft time it can't be edited so the time must be agreed apon 1st.

I will send out a league wide PS3 PM today with a tentative time set for:

Sunday 28th
NSW/VIC 9pm
QLD 8pm
SA 8:30pm
WA 6pm
NZ 11pm

If we get several people messaging back requesting a change of time we may need to reconsider and look at another date/time.

If the conflicts are minimal then i'll look at generating the draft and locking in the time on Saturday night.

Also, need to know what is happening with Sam. Is it Sam397 or SaMtheraptor??? Need to sort this out before generating the draft.

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Good time! Actually know thinking of it i dont mind the positions with having divisions take the spot on the standings, there's a lot more players now aswell not like our 15 team league like we have now :) So if your half decent you should make playoffs with more spots available this time round

I have to say I disagree. There are a lot of new players, but in the West there is only 4 new players who were not participating in Season 1.

It could once again end up that players with strong records miss out because they are not leading their division, and hypothetically if say Ben had the best record and myself and Ranga were #2 and #3 (not unrealistic), we would be seeded 4th and 5th.

That means automatically one of us wouldn't go through to the 2nd round, and that doesn't seem fair.

Michael - Can you make it the way the NBA does? Having the top four seeds as 3 of the Divisional Champs and the additional winningest team, but ranked via winning %. Just like it says on wiki (as you showed us). That to me is the fairest and best, and hey if the NBA does it like that then why shouldn't we.

Maybe we can have a vote on it. The way I see it the best gamers should be in the best position and be given the advantage to go the furthest, after all they are the teams that have played the hardest and done the best to win the most amount of games. Winning the division if it is a weak one shouldn't be rewarded if the team has a poor overall record.

That is better overall for both conferences.
