Wow! Serious much?
i was thinking the same thing. I don't get that into it to be honest, i just play each game thats in front of me and hope for the best.
You on anytime soon Jimbo? Im home from work early so hit me up man
LOL!
Well it's not a huge game-plan, it only took me about 10 seconds to formulate it.
Clicked onto Verse's Memphis Team to see who he had. Concluded Westbrook and Ellis need to be stopped, no major inside forces.
And there you have it. Force Westbrook and Ellis to shoot tough jumpers = The Game-Plan.
Just like how you try and contain my guys from getting into the lane when we play.

But funnily enough you were the one making coaching adjustments and double team/pressure adjustments to strategically defend my guys
Everyone makes a plan.
I just dropped 2 against Jimbo, not surprising really as Gay just shakes loose from any defender then its either an open shot or dunk and i don't have the size to do anything defensively against any of his team.
Looks like this ones done and dusted
Each game as it comes Jimbo, i honestly don't think about what the match ups etc are going to be till the game is starting. Thats only the second time i've actually changed any of the coaching settings for a game. Not that it mattered much Gay still blows by everyone on my team so it was fruitless anyway.
The first game was terrible on both sides defensively. The second much better defensively and an old-fashioned slug-fest.
Look I'm primarily a swingman-type gamer on 2K10. I've already tried to adapt my game a bit to please people, and I am using the mid-range and perimeter much more.
Gay was unstoppable but I won't apologize for that. If you look at the point distribution he's scoring in a variety of ways. Can't please everyone and still have fun playing yourself.
Jefferson has been beasting it too, 14.5 PPG and 11 RPG through both games.
But yes there are some mis-matches for both teams, your backcourt is strong but your frontcourt is a bit lacking. I'm doing my best to keep Westy and Ellis out of the paint and turn them into jump-shooters. I killed you on the break in the first game too, 22-0 is the difference in fast break points!
I am too (a swingman type player) thats why i've struggled with this team, all good though mate you're dominating me in every way
I didn't think I was all that subtle...I thought I simply said that you were seriousEach to there own. You take it seriously, I play for fun and I guess so does Nick. Sure I'm competitive, which is why I was a little sour after our last game, but I'm in it for the fun
That would be why I keep jacking up triples even when they're not dropping (as you keep alluding to). I like the 3, I enjoy the 3, I enjoy the open man and shooting when I am open, I enjoy kicking it round. If I lose because of it, cause it's not dropping, so be it! I'm having fun and I'll never resort to cheesing it inside just to get a victory. If the shots there, I'll take it! Sure some games I score inside more than usual when I'm rusty, but I don't force it inside, I just hit the open man when I can. I'm like Nick, each game as it comes. Even in our last game I started with my usual Man on Man in the 1st, but quickly realised that locking down the inside was what was needed, hence my D change...and only change of the game!
All I know is, I think I'd love AJs XBox leagues where the rules are only 50% in the paint at most and fast breaks are not allowed to be finished in the paint unless off a steal/turnover. Off the rebound the break must be finished outside the paint! Reckon those are 2 pretty sound rules really
Oh, and I tried a practice match with Zel earlier so he could look at his team...and it actually failed to start after it got past the line-ups page...which has NEVER happened before with any game. I don't think he can even start a game with that team, the same way everything locks up when we see the glitch pages...
Really, who cares about ratings and "experiences?" Its a damn video game, and if you find a way to win then good on you.
If you carry your team with one player, or one move, or one style - you'll get found out at the end, and thats why the best players have other assets that win them games.
And if you can't defend one style of play, shame on you
So Rudy Gay running around and breaking free from every defender in the league is realistic? Also those rules for the XBox leagues are bogus. What would happen in real life. "OH your team scored more than 50% in the paint and despite the fact that the opposition couldn't defend you well you are automatically forfeiting the game"
hey, u guys reached the finals yet? i'v been tuning in a lot lately to this thread, have u got a 2k website?

Ah well. Maybe it's cause I'm younger than you. I have less to do with my time at the moment
Haha yeah well I don't resort to putting it inside in order to win. That's where your biggest error in judgment is. You assume that I only take it inside because I want to win. Hell no - that's just the first playing style I adopted when I first played NBA Live 2004 which has carried through. Just like how you said "i enjoy the 3, i like the 3" I enjoy slashing to the paint. That's fun for me. Everyone else just needs to get over it.
The rule of thumb for the league that's been laid down is no more than 80% points in the paint. If you aren't breaking that rule then play the game.
Besides. I think it's just as annoying that some players dribble around the 3 point arc till the defender takes a step back and shoot it. Also like when you run into a crowd hoping the defense will double team and so then you kick it out and miraculously one of players is open for a 3. All the same in my book.
I think J_Keefy's post a few pages back sums it up best.

Fast breaks aren't allowed to be finished in the paint?? This sounds like mixed basketball where the men aren't allowed to score in the key in the 1st half for fear of not giving the girls a fair chance. Besides each player is given different ratings. There's a reason why Rudy Gay has an 88 dunk rating and only a 70 3 point rating.
So Rudy Gay running around and breaking free from every defender in the league is realistic?
I think me and Ben have a very similar game playing style so i guess its why we agree on alot of things when it comes to your game Jimbo
I have a big hate for running around with one player till he breaks free then taking a shot, Swish did this alot earlier in his league days and to me that constitutes cheesing.
I have no issue with your playing style overall Jimbo other than when Gay or Tmac get the ball are covered sometimes by 2 defenders then they start doing all the behind the back/crossovers/shimy's/drive then come off then drive again untill you get free for a shot and then take it and score. There is nothing more annoying to me then playing against that style of play. Im not having a go at you at all Jimbo i just find it unsportsman like having to contend with that stuff.
You pride yourselves so much that you don't score in the paint and you hit jumpers. But in the process of hitting those jumpers you dance around just as much as I do when I try to get to the ring.
Our last few games are a perfect example. Jose Calderon, Westbrook and Monta Ellis dance around the perimeter and wait till my guy jumps or moves slightly too much to either side, then you take your jumper. It's not like you are executing plays to get wide-open jump-shots, you move your players around just as much.
You're obviously better at shooting than me, but you have your tactics to get your open shots. We all do (have tactics that enable us to succeed).
I was waiting for you to mention that, did you notice me do it in the first 3 games we played? Nope because i didn't do it and lost, come game 4 i decided to use your methods and just have a mess around and guess what? I won
I guess i'll be using these tactics again to see what happens
Oh i wouldn't mind a rematch now since i gave you 4 in a row when you were on your winning run
Ahh I actually did notice you do it in the first 3 games but whatever, must be a difference in opinion. Good win in Game 4 though, the lead was around 5-7 points for most of the game, I should have attacked the paint a bit more. I had no sense of urgency so pulled back a few times when I could have stretched it.
No worries - I'll have to close it out in Memphis
And I would play but I've got to be up at 8AM to go to the Hunter Valley, so I'll need some sleep. Also my eyes are a bit square after playing 4 online games and 2 association games today
Did you check the game shot map after the game? I don't think it was possible to go the paint anymore than you did
Looks like i'll have to try sort you out some other time then
First of all I have no problem with either of you (Nicko or Ben) obviously as we all get along. The following is constructive discussion:
For you to compare me to Swish is ludicrous. He called an isolation EVERY SINGLE PLAY then went to the ring for a slam. You are over-exaggerating. I have already opened up my game a lot more and use pick and rolls to come off for mid-range jumpers and even pull up from mid-range.
Besides I find you guys to be hypocritical. No some of the moves I do with my swingmen is not realistic, but neither is the way you guys get your jump-shots.
