Official 2013-14 Playoffs Thread - SPOILERS!

Done and dusted I reckon. At BEST, a game 6 but the Heat are only prolonging the inevitable. Let the oldies take it down in spectacular fashion on their home court.

The Heat LOOK like a defeated team!

But.....

If Miami win on Monday, then they are right back in the same position they were last year! Think of it that way.
I know they don't have Home court this year, but that doesn't seem to mean anything these days!

Another stunning game by the Spurs. Nearly faultless again. They should be able to roll back at home.

Apart from all the Heat defensive breakdowns and missed shots... Miami have not once looked like they seriously wanted this series.
They go through stretches 3 to 4 possessions of not running offensive plays and just have Bron or Wade dribbling looking for something in the lane to open up.
No one goes for the off rebounds, they just pray the wild shot goes in.
Chalmers should not be getting regular season minutes, his defense is terrible and he can't hit sweet f.a. this series.

Spoelstra has no answers, its very dismal to watch him squirming on the sidelines with his blank empty stares.

I think we might be seeing the end of chalmers in a Heat uni, and judging by todays game, i doubt he's the only one.... the decision part 2???

Ok, Wade is old (but my favourite Heat) and past winning games on his own, Bosh is wasted on this team at the min (way under used IMO) and Bron is the best offensive player in the world for sure BUT:

- his defence has been as bad as anybodies in this series (hence why comparison to other GOATs is unfair - sorry to go there :p)
- the constant grimacing and acting like he is in pain is getting old
- the guy cannot be beaten when he is in full attack mode...so attack in every quarter!

Anyway, the Spurs have been AWESOME!!! Just beautiful team basketball. Loving it!

However, I cannot write off the Heat whilst they still have LeBron.

Yeah, Bron seems to be able to get his no matter what.

Why they dont run more picks for him I don't know, when the offense is stagnating, they need a few picks to get loose, cause some mismatches.
Kawhi was doing well to stifle Bron for a good 5-6 seconds of the shot clock before he made a move or someone came to set a pick.

Go spurs, though Miami would have more fire after getting embarrassed on their home floor, Miami had the look of a beaten team half way thru the third, no urgency, if this team shows up for game 5 then the spurs will finish them, surprised to see a championship team show so little fight, even Lebron has the look of being with teammates that, to be honest, looked liked they had no heart, or desire, but to be fair this spurs team looked so damm driven and focused that I don't think anyone would have a chance

Think this game was proof that even with a big 3, it still takes a whole team to win the ring, Lebron has had no help this series, if I was him I'd be thinking of new team mates next year, wade is done as a star, and bosh, even as hard as he try's just an't on the leval to carry a team when needed

Wade looks done, he's lost his legs which unless he gets a great 3 point shot under his belt, will see the end of him.

Bosh could certainly carry a team, easily, but he needs to have his play called for him. The Spurs are doing amazing at getting it out of his and Lebron's hands.

This Heat team would be beating anybody else in the West bar Memphis IMO.

Big call. IMO the Heat team that showed up today couldn't have.
In the 1st qtr, they took a gut punch, then by the half they were picking themselves up off the canvas for the 2nd time.
I think they lost the 'heart of a champion' in G3 when they got to 7 pts in the 3rd, then the Spurs got a run going to bust it back out to 15pts.

The most disgusting thing to me is.. I could see it happening in the 1st.. the way they settled for the open jumpers, not trying in the least to penetrate and get into the key.
If Miami win G5 I will be absolutely shocked. And could probably give enough drive for Miami to win G6. big IF's

Having had a long day at work today, but managing to avoid seeing a result, I was looking forward to a really competitive game, especially from the Heat, who I was sure would come out with the necessary intensity required to win Game 4. What they actually put out there was pitiful. A lot of the praise should be given to the Spurs, who have played both excellent tough defense, coupled with intelligent efficient offense. Miami should be ashamed at their lack of effort.

Two major things I would like to point out/celebrate...

Firstly to DWade - If you make a ref look like/feel like an idiot for falling for your flop, DO NOT expect another 50/50 call to go your way for the rest of the series, it is called Karma, and its a bitch. A "class" superstar level player would have got quite a few trips to the FT line based on todays game, but the way that you bitch and moan to the ref's these days, you are no longer in the superstar category, let alone how bad you shot tonight (1/10 through 3 qtr's - yikes);

And secondly, to the Big Fundamental - CONGRATULATIONS on two HUGE milestone (in the one game!), firstly slotting into first place for all time minutes played in the playoffs and secondly (and even more impressive) also taking sole possession of first place in playoff Double Doubles. It is a testament to Duncan's durability and professionalism, as well as Spurs longevity at the top that has put him in this position, but since no one else had mentioned it, I thought that it had to be said, so WELL DONE TIMMY!!

I thought/hoped that it would be Spurs in 7, happy to be wrong on the length of the series, might have to try and take Monday morning off work to watch Game 5 live.

I don't feel as though it's a big call at all.

Spurs have a great offense and defense, putting pressure on Miami at both ends, plus with an on ball defender like Kawhi.

OKC, Hou, Por, Clips would all lose to Miami. I feel Memphis would be tough for them because their D is incredible, but they don't have the O.

I hope Tim Duncan seals it with a classic in game 5. A nice double double and then he gets the Finals MVP!!!! :)

Not sure who will win Finals MVP if Spurs finish it off in Game 5. Given how even/team oriented the Spurs have played, you could give it to either Kawhi, Diaw, Duncan or Parker and you could have a fair case for why you did. I loved Pop's answer to the question in the post game press conference of who would he give Finals MVP to: "Next question". It clearly shows just how much it is about the team in his coaching philosophy, and NOT about the individual.

Whenever Pop hangs up the reigns from San Antonio.. the amount of money he will get offered to jump to another franchise would be incredible.

I know the Spurs are only 1 win away now, but I still can't bring myself to commit to believing just yet!

But if it does happen, what a fairytale story!!

Absolutely worst possible loss last year, then come back to take top seed overall, SURVIVE the western conference, including a win over OKC who has had their number for years, now a rematch with Miami and making it look very one sided!

Just praying they hold on and close out Monday!!!
