agree - this team screams "one and done". They gave up so many future picks and signed so many old timers - it's this year or nothing. So Kidd should be an assistant, not learning the ropes still. If you see him coaching, he doesn't have a clue what he's meant to be doing. The Nets should be a team that can do damage come playoff time, they have plenty of time to get it together!
I just worry about Kidd, I mean I don't mind him being there, but with Garnett and Pierce not having much left in their careers, I would have thought a stable playoff/finals coach would have worked better...
George Karl, could of been a better choice, with Kidd as an assistant maybe...
If they can work it out come playoff time, they are hard to match up against, that's for sure...

EVAN TURNER TRADE RUMOURS:
Their are rumblings that Philly don't want to pay Turner $10mil + per year, and know he'll get at least that as a restricted free agent this summer. So, it looks like ET will be moved before the Feb deadline - but where?
The top rumours are:
CLE: With Anthony Bennett a bust (that might be early, but let's face it, this guys ceiling is Derrick Williams at best), The Ca...vs need a SF and with Kyrie advancing well beyond his young team mates, the Cavs front office need to surround him with ready to go talent, and Turner fits that bill. They have cash to spare, and young assets to off load, and the Cavs need to stop building and start making some noise in the East. No SF has stuck since 'he-who-shall-not-be-named' left, and Turner could be the answer to build alongside Kyrie, Waiters and Thompson.
CHI: The Newark Star-Ledger reported today "Turner, a Chicago native, would be an ideal fit for the Bulls to replace Rose. He isn't the player that Rose is, but he has shown over his career that he is best with the ball in his hands. With Rose now gone, there are plenty of touches open in Chicago". But to me, this makes no sense. If they wanted to spend $10mil on a SF, it'd be re-signing Deng, but the front office is determined to shed salary, and they look to be turning over the SF spot to Jimmy Butler this summer, to save luxury tax penalties. But maybe Rose's injury changes everything...
MIN: Brewer is good and fills the role, but SF is the weakest spot in the starting 5. The Twolves want to win now and have cash to spend, but would Turner be teh answer - since he does need the ball to be effective. He'd be 3rd option on offense and doesn't have the 'jack-of-all-trades' glue guy SF that would work better alongside Love, Rubio, Martin and Pek. I'd prefer to see MIN go after an Iggy, Deng type - something they hoped Brewer would be a version of.
DAL: The Mavs and Cuban will be involved in every free agent pitch and possible trade until August. The Cavs have PG (Calderon), SG (Monta) and PF (Dirk) locked in for the coming years and are looking for a SF and C. Yes, Cuban will go all in on LeBron and Melo, but landing Turner could be a decent consolation prize. Could ET and Monta work together? The Mavs also need depth, and re-signing Matrix and Carter to cap friendly contracts could see this team rebuild quite nicely and sneak up on a few teams in the West.
Personally, I have no idea why Philly would want to get rid of Turner, especially for cents on the dollar. He's finally living up to his #2 draft pick, and the Sixers have a nice young nucleus - which Turner is a foundation of. Unless they land Wiggins, re-signing Turner and Hawes should be the priorities of the summer.
Kobe just signed a contract extension. Unsure of details at this time. Laker for life.
2 years 48.5 Million.
The Lakers are idiots. I like Kobe but hes not worth that and now it will cost them getting free agents.
Stupid Stupid move.
The funny thing is he said last year he would take the biggest pay day he could. He doesn't care about winning or having a good team now, it's purely about the money.

Between his signature on a two-year, $48.5 million contract extension and a cross-country flight to the East Coast on Monday, Kobe Bryant was left befuddled and bemused by those who declared him greedy and uncaring about chasing championships. "This was easy," Bryant told Yahoo Sports on Monday night. "This wasn't a negotiation. The Lakers made their offer with cap and building a great team in mind while still taking care of me as a player. I simply agreed to the offer." Yahoo! Sports
According to Coon, with Bryant now on the books for $23.5 million next season, the Lakers could have approximately $22.2 million in cap space in 2014. That's assuming the cap next season is set at $64 million and the Lakers let all of their free agents (including Pau Gasol) walk after this year. ESPN.com
According to Coon, if the Lakers remove Harris and Nash from the roster, they will have $28.46 million in cap space. This would allow them to sign Anthony to a max contract (4 years, $96 million) and add a free agent at approximately the mid-level amount, per Coon. They may also be able to use the room mid-level exception ($2.7 million) to sign another player. ESPN.com
