Official 2011-2012 Playoff thread

Awesome, don't think any nba fan could ask for two better match ups in the conf finals. Of course if your team did'nt make it then you'll totall disagree, which is understandable.

So who do we like to go through? Can 1 or both of the veteran teams sneak through the 2 gun young stud teams??? Or is it out with the old and in with the new?

Boston vs Miami = Both teams don't have a whole lot of depth and will rely on their starters. Celts eyes have certainly lit up without Bosh being there. This really has to be K.G's series. He's got enough juice left I reckon. I'm going to go with the Celts in 6. They own 3 of the 5 starting match ups and have a better bench IMO (just). Unless Bosh can come back I think the vets can hold off the Heat. Ray Allen does'nt need to play great, he just needs to come though in a couple of the games. Rondo is also HUGE in this series.
I really can't wait for this one to kick off. Please Celts, stop the Heat here:)

Spurs vs OKC = What to say (I'm sh*tting myself). I hate that the Spurs are now favourites. Needed the Thunder to be very confident and people saying the Spurs are too old. The key really is at the pg position. Westbrook can be frail at times, this is something that needs to be exploited. As good as his jump shot is, he's in love with it and I'd get my money on the Spurs pushing him out that 1-2 feet more than where he likes it.
I'm going to be very nervous the next week or two. The other key is in the coaching, Pop is one of the best thinkers ever in the game. He definately has it on Brooks (as good as he is).
This is going to be a great series also.
I'm gonna follow the heart over my head and say Spurs in 7.

The best thing is that I really don't think there's one team you could say is heavily favoured in either series, could go either way. Even if they're short series' I'd say the games will be tough and of a higher standard than what we've seen in previous rounds.

The best time of the year is here.

My feelings is that experience will get the Spurs over the Thunder but its not a sure thing. Westbrook and Durant is a handful and Ibaka is a defensive gem + Harden. Who knows what will really be the outcome in the West.

In the east though, it will really depend on how Miami controls Rondo. I'd say, get Rondo out of his game, then Miami will win in 5. Getting Bosh back in this series will be a good thing specially if they get to the finals.

The conference finals are going to be awesome, can't wait!!

I really think the winner of Boston and Miami will come to if Bosh plays. If he does him and KG will be in a battle but with Bosh playing with James and Wade, he would beat KG. If Bosh doesn't play, KG will have his way with the Miami bigs unless LBJ plays at the 4. And Bass could play at the 4 for Boston as well, so it's an interesting situation. And Coach Spo said that is Bosh doesn't play, the effort from James and Wade in the last few games of the Pacers series would be the normal effort he wants! And I think Ray Allen is the wild card, he was OFF during the Philly series so if he can catch fire, watch out!

In the west I think the Point Guard match up is key. Parker V Westbrook. Both players like to get to the paint so it depends on which guard will be able to stop the other! Who thinks Danny Green will guard Durant? He's a great defender but might be a bit too small for KD. Duncan V Ibaka will also be an awesome match up.

I'd say Leonard will see plenty of time on Durant and Green will see some time on Westbrook.

Parker played alot on Chris Paul and I can see him wanting the challenge of going at Westbrook too.

Was listening to ESPN Radio today and they still said Bosh is out with the abdominal strain.

Would rather it be Pacers v Celtics but other than that I think it's 4 deserving teams to get to this stage.
Surely Wade and Lebron can't beat win by themselves!
Chalmers is due for a big game. Mike Miller and Battier finally start hitting a few 3's in the last series.

Pierce needs to not foul out again but if he does, Rondo can step up again and do what he did today, wow, that was sensational!
Garnett outrunning EVERYONE on the break in a Game 7 today amazed even me. He certainly has the momentum and motivation to put in some huge games this series!

I'm sorry Celtics fans, but I don't see them posing any problems to the Heat, Bosh or no Bosh. Heat in 6 w/o Bosh, Heat in 5 w/ Bosh.

West is a tough one, but gotta go with my boys in 7. :D

Calling 'Heat in 6' means that it would need to be 3-2 at some point.... wouldn't that be a 'posed problem'?

Rondo and KG are better this time. Wade and Lebron are better.
Ray is worse (bone spurs). Pierce is the same.

No Bosh

Added Bass, Pietrus

Etc etc

It's gonna be a battle!

Touche...... it just depends. If Wade and Lebron play like they did the last couple games and are without Bosh, then they will prolly take it in 5; if they dont, then it should be 6.

Cant wait for Game 1 tomorrow. Both series are gonna be very tight. Like mentioned earlier, even is the series is short, the games are gonna be extremely intense. Would love to see KG and Celt's make it through and go for another title, and if Bosh is out for whole series then KG has gotta take contol of frontcourt. Rondo holds key though. If he can completely dominate PG matchup (which is very possible) then Celtics are in with a great shot to take series in 6, but if Chalmers and Cole can consistently play Rondo fairly even, then Heat should win in 5-6 games.
On the other hand the OKC-Spurs matchup could be anyones, and all I hope is that it goes 7 games. Youth vs Experience. Love the Harden-Ginobili matchup. Love Duncan-Ibaka. Love Parker-Westbrook. If all these matchups play even then its OKC's series, as I havent even mentioned Durant yet, who will likely be matched up against a defensive stopper for most of the series, whether that be Jackson, Green, Leonard, and will still likely get around 30.

For some strange reason, I feel very content with the standings as they are??? I have a passionate hate for Lebron and KG which I have built over time because of attitude related reasons, however...

Heat win - the least of the 4 I want to win it, but I would like to see Bosh get some jewellery. Lebron deserves it whether I like him or not, I just wish he would get his attitude adjustment BEFORE he gets his first ring.

Celtics win - surprisingly, there are 2 reasons that I am starting to warm to the idea of Boston taking the title. 1) Ray getting another before he retires, 2) KG getting another to help make a record of just how much of a player he has been over his career! (wow! I jut said that) to have been as dominatin as he has over the years with just 1 ring that came shortly after trades, 1 ring doesn't do his career justice, even if he is a dirty pig that punched TD in the back of the head lol the game and the memories are more important than hating for a few dodgy actions

OKC win - simple.... If I wasn't a Spurs NUT, I would be an OKC Nut! As much as I am hard on the 4 stars, I am huuuuge fans of them. The only reason I am hard is because they can be better than they are if they do a little more work on the fundamentals. I hate to think what changes are goin to go down in OKC next year with the inevitable wage increases which will no doubt see Harden move on, so a ring while they ate their strongest is not a bad idea

Spirs Win - what can I say? The ultimate! I was a huge DRob fan from around 92/93 up until 96ish before I found the social scene and didn't stay in touch with the NBA, then I came back into it in 09 and, although I heard a little about it, missed the 4 championships and the prime of TD :(
So I would love nothing more than to be able to watch another happen without missing a minute of it!! Especially since TP (my favourite 'post D Rob' Spur) is having a career year and would be a huge reason why they do it

So, either way, it is gonna end well for the game! Just can't wait for the finals an am really not looking forward to the of season!

Real tight D from the Thunder so far! Forced more than half of the Spurs average TO's in just the first quarter!

But what about Manu?? Turnaround, fadeaway, 3pt buzzer beater??? Niiice!
