NRL Fantasy nightmare!

This will test the bunnies depth, GI looked to be hurting yesterday, Reynolds might be gone for an extended period, Walker out also. When is Sutton back? I would imagine he will slot into 6 and Keary 7

Sutton still has another 1-3 weeks out.

It was a penalty all day long, you can't make contact with the kickers legs under any circumstances and the reaction of Klemmer and Graham (to a lesser extent as Capt) was an absolute disgrace, they should be fined. The argument it was an accident, he was playing the ball not the man, the ground was slippery etc does not matter. These excuses, yes, should be taken into account when grading and suspending but contact with the kickers legs has been a penalty for years.

The rule is in place so as key players don't suffer serious injuries......ooops sorry I didn't mean it doesn't cut it, it's the same as contact with the head we see plenty of unintentional contact with the head and it is penalised every time and we don't start throwing bottlers or ranting uncontrollably at the ref with these because we understand player welfare is paramount and just you can't do it.

Inglis to 5/8, Keary to 1/2 and Johnston to fullback.......they're gone the bunnies!

Field goal attempts in the nrl look like they are about become like marks in the afl. The opposition must stand a few metres back and jump to try stop the kick. Or maybe call time off when they want to kick and allow the opposition to form a wall like soccer.

Field goals are preformed in open play and the team kicking it should have no advantage. While i think it is excellent the nrl is trying hard to prevent injuries, you can not expect players to stand and watch while the match winner is being kicked nor can u expect them to charge down and roll away midway through to avoid the legs when they are aiming for the ball 30cm away.

While i really do think the nrl is doing a good job at preventing injuries we must remember that players are busting it out for 70+ minutes then one comes along with the one play that will decide the winner and loser. Its a big risk.

If you were Graham (the captain) what would you have done to stop reynolds?

If I was Graham you would attempt a charge down by not diving at the feet of the player which the penalty was for. everyone else has managed to stop filed goals by running at the player with their hands up just look at the storm v cowboys game on Monday night, there was attempted field goals in the game with no one diving at the feet. the rule has been around for about 7 years since Steve Price was doing it , and injured a half back taking a field goal

Ouch.........Tony Caine

Great call for those arguing about why it is a penalty try and find this footage.

Was it Price that broke Scott Prince leg as well

Cheers

See, my problem is this: The referees let play go, so they either missed what happened, or they didn't think it was worth a penalty, UNTIL James Graham jumped up waving his hands trying to get medical attention for Reynolds. So it seems the penalty assessed was NOT for the action involved, but for the serious injury in the aftermath! SECONDLY, how the HELL do you then get the penalty goal from right in front, 10 metres out??? I've READ what has been said on it, but even the commentators couldn't figure it out. If they had've slotted the goal from out near the side-line where the ball LANDED, I'd have complained less. But what they're basicly saying, is this is the ONLY time in history, at least since that law's been around, that a player diving to stop a field goal has made contact with the kicker's leg? I HIGHLY doubt that's the case! Now that it's APPARENTLY a known rule, what's to stop someone later this round/next round/in the future, when down by 1 in the closing minutes, setting up for a bomb to the corner, then changing the action to a field-goal attempt when he see's someone diving out of the line to smother his kick??? Or 60/70 metre field-goal "attempts", like we see in basketball, just chucking up half-court haymakers when they see contact is inevitable???
