NRL Insert Set......what would you create? (UPDATED WITH SOME NEWS)

Jumbo Patch - sick!

* A 9 card insert set (1:36 or 1:72...) similar to the cards Dynamic did in 1994 with the front of the card depicting a defining moment in the previous year's Finals series, and once you arrange all of the cards into a 9 pocket sleeve they make a huge photo on the back of the Premiers...

* A point system as previously mentioned in this thread, each packet has a small paper 'points card' in it, and there is a heap of stuff you can redeem with the points... an album, special team-specific cards, free packets, etc

How about career stats on the back of cards. Used to love that back in the day.

As I've said before, I'd pay an extra buck or two a pack to have decent info/stats on the back. Career would be killer, but I'd settle for season stats after Select's dry run. And there's a heap of insert sets that could be gleamed from stat achievements. 100 tries, 1000pts, 10-year club, etc.

The only insert set I completed this year was Triple Centurion. Say what you like about the mirror card design, but 300 game cards was a cool idea, an important milestone that deserved a set. (Shame about the Wiki, ET no shows though). While I liked the concept of a 'Try Machine' set, it was way too big and too diluted by players who are by no-stretch-of-the-imagination 'try machines'. At least when Dynamic did the same thing, they were all players who either had or were on their way to nabbing 100 career tries.

While most of us have lamented the crap insert ratios of ESP's first outing, and I found the clearcut card designs too bland, I do tip my hat for their effort in putting the players' rep stats on the back of the cards (even though it was kind of weird to print Origin cards that include stats from 1 game of this year's series). Select couldn't even be bothered providing Date of Birth.

What i look for in a product is value...

1. Higher end inserts must be numbered. I know a few people will say they are neither here nor there on numbering but Select's recent Dynasty release...and even the Lockyer auctions for specific numbers they did on their website, proves that there is a market for specific numbers...which ads value to the product. (Yes, i have heard that ESP have said they will be numbering in future)

2. Ratios and Production level. There has to be a good blend of inserts at varying ratios. If there is a "case hit" card then there also has to be other high end cards in the case to decrease the chance of sellers "case searching". Terry has said they want to try and crack down on searchers, however, the first ESP release did not do that at all. I think Select's Dynasty series this year did a good job of this. In one case you would get a card #/100, 2 cards #/50, 6 cards #/150....as well as numerous other inserts. On the flip side, the year before when Select did its Strike series, I for one did not purchase any of it because IMO the inserts and ratios were poor.

Is the 'Predictor' idea Trademarked to Select or is it an idea anyone can use?

I like the idea of a rare (one per case or one per multiple cases) "Premiers Signature" card, which can be redeemed after the Grand Final for a Premiership Captain Signature card.
