what i don't get is if a player of his calibur wants to pick and choose what team he goes to, why wouldn't he just sign with his team of choice as a free agent, instead of entering the draft?

you HAVE to make yourself eligable for at least one draft before you can sign any contract in the NBA, whether its as an early entrant like Yi, or when you reach 23 and you are automatically eligable...

and to answer the other question, he can re enter if he doesnt play pro basketball for a year
