New Draft System

After thinking about Yi and his whole "im not going to milwaukee even though they drafted me" I've come up with a new system...

The NBA creates a system that ranks the players greatness, pretty much orders their worth.. e.g if Oden was in this draft he'd be number 1, kind of like the fantasy league system with their points and what not..

Then, all players entering the draft get to write down which teams they'd like to play for..

THEN, David Stern enters the podium and accounces,

"With the first choice of the 2007 NBA Draft, Yi Jianlian announces to play in Orlando"

"With the second choice of the 2007 NBA Draft, Greg Oden accounces to play with Chicago"

And so forth.. every team gets a player in lottery/draft order..

I mean this is what it's pretty much coming down to.. quite a farce and I'm pissed off with what I'm seeing, and what I'm not seeing from the NBA.

And in the event that two players choose the same team, for example Durant and Oden both elect to play for the Suns, they have to compete in an official rock, paper, scissors competition to win the playing rights for the said team.

Either way, the Celtics still lose out..

well you know.. who wants to goto boston anyways? they need a father son rule kind of thing but perhaps call it "childhood fan rule".. or in Yi's case "where ever my country thinks i should play rule"

Ahaha....love rock, paper, scissors part.. =D>

i think a player should honor the team that drafted him.... period... regardless of what he wants to play.... there are many players go undrafted and they should respect the fact that they are drafted... i think Yi is making a big mistake.. popularity is not on geography issue, but on performance..

not many people collect Candiman because he was no 1 pick.. or drafted by LA.. i doubt less than 10 people in the world probably collect him...

I think Yi forgets about it...i just see him as incompetent person to make his own decisions, top 6 is guaranteed money with possibly better chance of more minutes if he proves it on the court.. too bad, he just doesn't know what it takes to be a good player...

I think they should introduce the "If you don't want to play for who drafts you, go back to China and never come to the USA again" rule. Give the Bucks a priority pick in next years draft if he refuses to sign, and ban Yi from ever playing in the NBA. He'd quickly change his tune.

Although it may not all be Yi's doing...... what you say is true.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I'd laugh so hard if he ****s off back to China, waits a year, nominates for the draft again, so how ends up in Sacramento or what ever town he wants and, wait for it, the US Government refuse to give him a Visa to live in the country.

So, just to clarify, it's worse when Yi does it than it was when Franchise and Kobe done it, coz he's from China?

I dont think you can re-enter the draft after you've already been drafted.. like newley now has been drafted, he cannot re-enter regardless..

hope he farks off though..

what i don't get is if a player of his calibur wants to pick and choose what team he goes to, why wouldn't he just sign with his team of choice as a free agent, instead of entering the draft?

aren't you only guaranteed 2 years as a first round pick though?
im sure Yi could command at least a 2 year contract from at least one team in the league that suits his/china's needs

I thought it was three... although they may have changed it to 2 awhile back.. can't remember??

But yeah...... you make a good point.

i'm pretty sure it's two years guaranteed, then each of the next two years are team options.

and this bullshit about Milwaukee not being a good situation for Yi... i think it will really help his development to have quality bigs on the same team to train with and against on a regular basis. plus there won't be pressure for him to perform right away because of their frontcourt depth.

my advice to Yi, sign a deal, and quit being a distraction before your Bucks teammates and the city of Milwaukee lose all faith in you, if not already. you're not helping your trade value by acting like some prima donna
