It was Boston's Rick Pitino. He's Celtics played so badly in 1996-97 he was CERTAIN he would get first pick in the lottery. He ended up getting pick 3 and was shattered. He drafted Chauncey Billups with pick 3, and Ron Mercer shortly after that, but not before pleading with the Spurs the ridiculous offer of the entire Celtics roster (including Antoine Walker, and a decent Dana Barros) for Tim Duncan

I was drafted by Seattle in 1999. But on draft day I was traded to another team. I was part of a team of what the NBA called "underpaid overachievers" as we helped our coach win the Coach of the Year award.

Despite all this, I was traded on draft day in 2000 to another team, where I am now. I have increased by scoring average in every season I have played since my rookie season. I am considered one of the most underrated players in the NBA today.
