NAB Cup, Who will Win?

Melb were good. Doggies were bad. IMO there were as many named players on each team... Never seen Brad Johnson do anything bad before - tonites effort on goal was shocking!

Hmm Dee's thru with a sub par team and the Doggies hot favorites :-)

Not that it matters as they wont change the tactics me thinks and continue to play the youngsters. Bate did well last night and Warnock had a good first hitting out early. You can never count out Robbo. What a star he is. :-)

I get to see them this week now so I'm happy with the win.

You kinda made my point for me, the NAB cup isn't worth getting excited about,

Making excuses for a poor pre season already....Dees will go well but i dont think they will win it.

Just wait for the actual season to start....great depth, some good young players, and the veterens holding the side together...they will go far!!!

Give me the stats for every teams attendance on the year and I will. As good as they were to start the year last year, I find it hard to believe the Demons, with one of the lowest memberships in the AFL, were one of the top 3 teams for attendance. Normally Collingwood pips Essendon for top spot, and then the other big clubs carl & rich and the big interstate clubs like the crows who get 50000 to every home game fight it out for the bronze.

Its all there in black and white on the net Bargey. It didn't take long to find. Did you think I plucked those numbers out of mid air?? Peoples views of teams never seem to change with their current standing and they get pidgeon holded into catogories.

The Demons now have 25,000 members and when you take into account the MCC members who a large amount are Demons supporters our membership base is in the area of 30,000 plus.

We did like I said avg the third largest home attendance in the league. We draw less on the road but thats irrelevent if you are arguing about our fan base. All facts mate. 43,193 if you need that number again?

Its 2006, we play in September, feature top five goal scroring forwards, draw the crowds and make profit. When are other teams fans going to pay that?

What would you rather. Us playing badly, low members and forced to move to Sydney. I don't think any fan would want the Dees to pack up. Give the club some credit for turning it around. The Doggies and other teams get it why shouldn't we?

Hands up who thinks Hawthorn will once more self destruct against RIchmond today???

We always seem to have them covered then disintegrate int he final quarter....

I hope today is different GO THE HAWKERS!!!!!!!!

the best part about our victory is we dont have to wait a month to see them in action again. i see us beating the lions in melbourne next week, its been quite some time since we have vsed the lions in melbourne and the lions have a very young team. cant wait

Melbourne will beat Brisbane easily I say. They desperately need the money. Brisbane are scrubbers and Leigh Matthews never cares if they win or not in pre-season.

another 2c...
I think it should be said 90% of teams will play young sides in this comp, not just the Dees. ;) Best for the Dees were Yze, Davey, Robbo, Miller, Motlop, Johnstone, and Rivers - guys like Pickett had some key touches - all noobs :lol: Hope you Dee fans had a bit of coin on? They were way over the odds. =D>

Miller and Yze didn't really play ;-)

We weren't saying the the Dee's were all green but far from full strength or at least trying like some for the cup. We don't need the money now so Daniher said its not worth it.

Wasteful in the 1st quarter were the hawks... but man all the new numbers,,,,

Franklin = #23 (dermies, and Thommos old number)
Roughhead = #2 (hopefully not a damn curse)
Boyle = #20
Ladsan = #4

and a few others I think...

Guerra is impressing me so far... and Robbie Campbell has slimmed down... seems more mobile almost makes a nice giant defender as well as ruckman...

LOL. True, you guys weren't at full strength. Neither were the doggies - no Darcy :) Terry was visibly stressed at times lastnite for one who didn't want it... Miller and Yze played very well. Hopefully continuing into the regular season for you. Ex-eagle Paul Johnson took some solid marks down back too.

Don't forget Johnson won the Liston medal last year in the VFL. The Brownlow of the league. He was solid and look great and will feature prominantly this year in the firsts. He is bloody huge too!

All in all i dont think anyone should be getting excited about what there teams doing in the NAB Cup will have no bearing on the season i know we won the mickey mouse cup 2 years in a row and bowed out of the finals in the real thing in straight sets and after Carltons effots in the Pre Season cup where did they finish when it matters.Teams use this comp for different reasons some to see drafted talent play with the big boys and others play at full strength or close too .All in all im just happy footys back on and the seasons about to get back underway!!!!

Aaah. But you didn't say home attendance did you chad? You said top 3 attended teams in the league, there's a difference, and that's what I was arguing ;)
