starts tommorrow night with a double header.
the lions and bummers at carrara and the BIG one
the demons and the bulldogs.
so looking foward to this season and the pre-season is fun to watch with the super goal rule and many other rules and interpretations that are brought in just for this competition.

i dont think the dees will win the NAB but you know their going to win the premiership ;) , but it will be good to watch because.
A ) Pickett, Pyscho :) Man it is going to be great seeing him smash people.
B ) the list of young players named for this match:
Bartram, Nathan JONES, Newton, Warnock, Bate, Hughes, Gian***na, Bode, Dunn and Nick Smith Lol
be good to see what these guys can do, nathan Jones im looking foward to watching the most, he's my age and a fukin tank. 17yrs

WHO WILL WIN THE NAB CUP?
im gunna say Hawthorne a roughie.

WB beleive it or not are odds on favourites to take the cup!

I was going to say Bulldogs until your last line! Was going to put a bet on them, but now there is no point! Very impressed with them last year!

Don't care, over here in Perth we think there is only one team! Go the Eagles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cousins resignation will either destroy moral, or pump them up! Either way they will belt the living shite out of the Dockers on Sunday! :D

This is article about Judd, being recommended to take over the captaincy.

Oh...and got the mighty dees!!!! Gonna smash the dogs tomorrow night!!!=D>

Richie Vandenberg and Kane Johnson have backed star on-baller Chris Judd to take on the West Coast captaincy after the resignation of incumbent skipper Ben Cousins.

Judd is apparently reluctant to take on the role due to the circumstances surrounding Cousins' resignation and his relative youth at just 22 years of age, but the Hawthorn and Richmond skippers believe the 2004 Brownlow Medallist is the man for the job.

"It's obviously a tough one for Juddy," Johnson said on Thursday.

"He's got two years left on his contract and he's not from the west coast, so he's obviously got that in the back of his head as well, but I'd say he's definitely the best man for the job.

"I reckon at some stage he will take it - I think he's just going to need a little bit of convincing over the next couple of weeks. It's obviously hard if you think you're not ready but the club does, but I think they've just got to give him a chance to grow into the role."

Vandenberg echoed those sentiments and said the presence of a strong leadership group at the club would be a huge help as he learned the ropes.

"The biggest thing for Juddy is … that he wouldn't take the whole burden on his shoulders - especially this season - himself," Vandenberg said.

"He'd have a good support network around him and obviously Ben would still be a great leader within the group. If he doesn't feel like he's quite ready yet then obviously the club will respect that, but I think with some gentle coercion he'll be fine."

Johnson agreed it was a difficult situation given the high regard that Cousins is held in by the players.

"He's obviously a bit reluctant to take over because they all respect Ben Cousins so much," he said.

"I just think it's probably a hard one to take over because they all want him to be the captain and this little misdemeanor has obviously cost him that and they're probably a bit cautious of taking it over from a bloke that they respect so much."

Johnson is entering just his second season as Richmond skipper and he felt Judd would excel at the role as long as he didn't place unrealistic expectations on himself too early.

"You need 12 to 24 months to become the leader that you want to be - you can't just go into it straight away and become a superstar leader like a Wayne Carey - you need 12 or 24 months to become that player," he said.

"I don't know him personally to be honest, (but) people talk about him and Jeremy Hum's just come over from West Coast and he said he's a natural leader.

"He just leads without even thinking about it and obviously the way he plays is going to help him as well. You look at Mark Circuit and these type of blokes - they're actual match-winners on the ground which makes you a pretty special captain.

"If you can do it off-field and win matches on the ground - I think you're doing pretty well."

Think they should just appoint someone for this year or make it 2 or 3 co-captains then decide after this year. Personally Judd is the obvious and best choice, but I reckon Embley would do a great job as well!

I rekon the Doggies will go close, but my tip is the Crows they have some good youngn's and may prove to classy for their opponents. although some teams to watch for:

Kangaroos - word is Rawlings is looking the best shape he been in for some time.

Saints - have us (pies) in the first round.

Cats - probably have the best list in the comp IMO, could be dangerous.

Pies - just watch....

lol

I dunno who is going to win, to be honest. I haven't been keeping up with much during the off season. But I reckon Crows might be the way to go.

Hoping the Hawks do something special though. Although... might wanna save it for the regular season!

I think that the winner of the Bulldogs-Demons match will go a long way in the competition. Unlike a lot of clubs, the prizemoney will do wonders for the Bullies.

To hard to tip in the NAB cup.
Demons have already said they are taking this more as an experiment not playing their best to win, but on paper i like em still.
If i did have to tip anyone using my brain i would say it would be out of the bulldogs, hawthorne or Carlton again. And i also have a feeling the lions will give it a crack , oh i dunno its to hard lol

ESSENDON of course ;)

please tell me why your singing that song? what have you actually acheived apart from the 2000 grand final appearance, which i recall someone getting a belting in... who was that by? ummm... let me see...

Eww, eww and double eww to both teams.

I despise Essendon, because well, there'd be something wrong with me as a Hawthorn fan if I didn't.

I despise Melbourne, because the wouss members voted to Merge with Hawthorn and tried to steal our identity away from us... THANK GOD for Hawthorn members !!!!!

So we have never won anything???? Thats a big call White Choc.

The Dees are twice as good as the Dons now and thats all that counts for now if you are going to look at the current season.

The Dees were very young in 2000 and players that were on the side then have matured into stars and ready to challenge for the cup now. We are very strong and deep.

If we are such easy prey then why do the Dons tank games against us now? I was at the last one and its was a walk in the park for the Dee's. Argue with that.

We wont challenge for the preseason cup. We don't need the money and members enough now seeing as we play in September and are one of the top three most attended teams in the league now. ;-)
