scotty, i think you have to look at it from 2 sides, alot of people love to bust boxes and show of there cards and like the trading card side of oztraders.
the other side is the members who just like to post and discuss everything from movies to cards to getting a pet rat.lol
i say to each there own and thats what adds to the diversity of oztraders
Nope its all made up
I only post a bit of what i get as i like to share but I dont see why EVERY card i get should be posted up etc. I like to share some that I know others might find cool and interesting to see but I don't buy simply to post maildays or collector kudos. I've seen that sort of stuff on beckett in the past and kids hocking everything to keep up and then selling the same cards the next week to have money to buy cards and post a better mailday. Thats really sad. I no one kid that racked up his parents CC to the tune of $5000US just to get cards and boast.
I can see where Scotty is coming from and see a few types of collectors that this applies too. BUT some come here to learn and read from us old folk and rather than posting they learn by reading. They then share their own cards with us as its their way of contributing.
I like to see maildays here but I'd rather see ones that involve cards that mean a lot to the collector and their collection rather than just loads of scans. When collectors are happy Im happy.
It can seem less like a hobby and more about hoarding rather than collecting sometimes.
my view is that, we have a forum for maildays and if people want to show their cards off they can. After all its only a hobby and people have their own ways of showing their love for the hobby.
I see where you are coming from Mavs, but to be honest i rarely check the maildays anyhow, once every now and then. Im sure people will contribute if they feel the need to post in card disscussions and other forums.
cheers.
agreed. anyone who brings ANY type of contribution to the board is good. we honestly can't dictate what people do, i mean i rarely post maildays, because i'm too lazy to scan my cards, but who cares, no big deal.
personally i dislike the stock standard "nice cards mate" reply to a mailday. it requires no thought, no effort, and indicates no real interest in your cards. its like the person wants to be known as the nice guy who always comments on other's maildays, but what is the point? I agree there are some people who post cards just cause theyre expensive, i dont disapprove of it though.
That made me laugh Bargey - I just thought u were a grumpy bugger!!
I think this place has some real personalities - I know like u know there's guys who just post their cards but what do responses to a mailday mean unless u know the guys replying?? - EG why the #$%% would anyone post on beckett when there's 5000000 members and u know none of them??
The best thing about this place is stuff like watching Jimbo correct u when u quote an incorrect shooting %, or shooting the shit with White Choc about what a great player Wade is!!
I think if u are just posting maildays here - you're missing the best thing about the place - now who wants to talk cricket?? COME ON!!
wait im confused. so am i being insulted? or am i being complimented??!
I think it was a complitment dude...
I think all that needs to be said to complete this thread is that different people use this site for different reasons.
I think it is a great site and i wouldnt change a thing it a could. I wouldnt even remove Yze....no matter how one eyed....he still makes this place interesting.
