M.i.a

did you have any luck with refunds guys?

so far still negotiating what we get exactly.

firstly, i got a letter from aussie post saying after a thorough investigation there is nothing they can do and that they are still trying to locate the item.

so i rung the person who did the "thorough" investigation and asked how they could conduct an investigation without questioning the sender or the receiver, so after about a 10 minute conversation, with me getting more pissed off because we weren't getting anywhere i said i would simply take it to a current affair, to which she said she needed to talk to her supervisor and came back about 5 minutes later saying she could give me $50 compensation.
so now i need to call someone else tomorrow to get some sort of a claim escalated and get some action taken.
rest assured i will not be settling for $50 as when it comes down to it we are out of pocket about $300.
will keep everyone up to date when it is all sorted out:thumbsup:

hope i don't need it either, but will pm you if i do need it.

just got off the phone to some sort of manager and she said she is sending me out more paperwork:cry: and a post satchel to send all the receipts , post bag, packaging etc back in to them so they can evaluate what they can do.........................i said that i wouldn't be happy if i didn't get atleast $300 in compensation, so will see how this plays out:)

sounds like a long bloody process though:rolleyes:

quick update to this thread....................

aussie post are now sending me out a $50 money order and another form for me to fill out to claim for more money.
this money order and additional form could take up to 4 weeks to arrive and then a further 3 months for australia post to make up there mind on whether they would like to be sued or if they would just like to hand over the compensation we deserve.

once again will keep you updated:)

Yay Australia Post.

BTW - Australia Post sub-contracts out their package delivery, so that is how they will get around being "personally responsible".

Good luck with chasing this up. Maybe using Marcus's "ACA" contact mightn't be such a bad option, as it may expediate your claim (and help you get what you're chasing). An ACA expose on the amount of parcels going missing might help A.Post clean up their act.

here it is guys, the update to beat all updates:lol:

just got back from a nice lunch with the A.C.T and southern highlands area manager for aus post........was a nice lunch too.....and he paid for my 2 kids to have lunch so it was a win win win:lol::lol::lol:

anyway, if you can't tell already i will receive $$$$$$$ compensation=D>=D>=D>
here is where it gets interesting..........i have this original claim with gemz(whom i have repaid about a week or so ago) this was for the cp3 ud black auto letterman............i asked for $300 compensation for the card being stolen, losing the money on the transaction and for postage......i got $250 which i was happy with:thumbsup:

the next claim i have just recently made was for 2 lebron james 06-07 ultimate auto/jersey's #/75.........now this was sent registered mail from the US(from a mate of mine) and it was opened by customs and after it was opened the items went missing , so to cut a long story short with this item aussie post will take full resposibility and refund me $610.70:eek:=D>:D:thumbsup: this is the amount he came up with for the international registered mail cost, the insurance coverage from the US and also insurance coverage from australia post...........

now the 3rd and final claim i wanted compensation for was for 1. an isiah rider topps stadium club printing plate and 2. lebron james 03-04 topps chrome gold refractor BGS 9.5 both sent together........this package was sent normal mail (from a mate in the US)and was delivered ripped open either from a machine or person and contents were missing, it was stamped as being received like this at mitchell post centre(A.C.T).......so i simply asked what he could do for this package and he has said that i will be compensated to the full value of the item, all i have to do is come up with a figure that i think is fair compensation.......now i paid $350 for the bronny gold and only $10 for the rider plate, so i think i will just go for $500.

anyway, i thought i would share this just to show that if you are persistant and harrassing with australia post then eventually you will get to someone high enough in aus post management that will do something for you.

this has been a long drawn out process but in the end it is very worth it as i wasn't to happy about losing huge $$$$ cards in the mail and considering i believe atleast 2 of these packages/items were stolen by aus post workers, this was the only solution i would have been happy with.

ohhhh and all this compensation above is added to the piddly $57.20 they already sent me via money order a few weeks ago for my inconvenience of losing items in the mail

i forgot to add to, that as a good will gesture my local P.O gave me a P.O box for free for the next 2 years.........not sure how this will help not lose cards, but hey, anything free is good:thumbsup:

Sounds like you had a really good day out with the Manager Justo!!!

Are they putting you on the payroll soon?

Well done mate, $610.70 might cover another 2 Lebons ;)

That is awsome news , compensation $$$$$ :woot::woot::woot::woot:
What did you threaten them with to get so far up ?

to be honest mate, threats only got me so far.

i know all the girls at the local P.O really well , once i let them know i was having problems getting compensation, they put me in contact with the area manager and he has done the rest.............very helpful guy:thumbsup:

haha payroll, after this is sorted out i will technically be on there payroll:lol:

i am already on the hunt for another 2, will keep you informed:thumbsup:

Great news Justin - all a bit of a worry though.......

NZ post insure everything sent as a parcel for up to $250 for free no matter what it's worth. IE - I send u a spree snotrag base card from the 90's it gets insured for $250!!! Amazing stuff! I thought u had to write it's value on the outside but was told that was irrelevant!!!

Anyway - great to hear there was someone wanting to keep u happy and that the news has filtered back to Aussie collectors here!!

Great work and goes to show if you know you are in the right to fight it till the end. The missing card from Customs is a disgrace and shows what we are up against at times from crooked employees.

Now do you chase similar cards with the money?

I'm sure you will register the items when you do pick them up LMAO

Well done again and well worth the effort.

yeh, the customs issue is a bit worrying, although i cannot be 100% sure that customs stole it.....it was opened by them, contents confirmed all paper work stuffed inside and then sent on to me , so it could have been stolen by someone between sydney and my place.......you just never know:(

well 2 of the cards lost were for other people on the boards although at the time they didn't know that, so yeah i will be on the hunt for similar cards.

i think this registered mail debate will go on forever, the 2 lebron auto's that were lost/stolen were registered, if i didn't know any better, than i would have just got $100 compensation, so is registered mail any better????

when it comes down to it i just got pretty much the $$$$ i was looking for as compo, if they were all registered i would have still went through the same mess, dealt with the same people and i doubt i would have got more money back.
i don't feel the need to send registered when it really doesn't give you any added protection, you still need the receipt etc to make a claim.....................and with all the registered mail thefts going on at the moment it isn't really safer or more reliable

i know "mr kevin garnett" had a registered item stolen and there have been others.............i think the moral is use paypal as buyer and seller can both claim back what they lose:thumbsup:

I agree, but I do see it that if you were a seller, it helps ensure the buyer receives their package. (they have to sign for it).

And they can't scam you out on a PayPal claim.

i here ya scotty, but, the buyer may receive there package with no contents , which has happened frequently over the last few months.

i see it as we are paying extra for a service that we don't receive.............just like an extended warranty that only covers specific things

Meh nothing can possibly replace a missing plate but $150 if you get it ain't bad! LOL

glad u got the proper refund on all the cards that were missing and stolen. also this will make ur area post office more vigilant on whats going on behind the office.
