Lebron - The Decision - Miami it is

I went for the cavs while Gil was suspended and the Wiz were shyte. Now I'm going back to the Wiz (Gil + Wall). I'll enjoy watching Miami but I doubt I'll ever go for them seriously.

The problem is that LeBron is only 25 and has run off to Miami to chase a ring - had he been 31, 32 and given his all while in his prime with Cleeveland and come up short with still no ring, people would understand him chasing the ultimate prize elsewhere. He had the scenario that all superstars dream about - go to a crap team, build a franchise totally around you, get them to being a top 5 team in the league, reach your absolute prime at 25.....then bale on a small town franchise that lives and breathes you 24/7 and be 2nd string to Wade at Miami???

None of the greats would have done that. Heck, Jordan was 28 before he won a championship! Imagine Bird running off to LA to be with Kareem and Magic because he couldn't get the job done himself? Bird would not be rated as highly as he is now.

LeBron needed to prove that he could beat the best to be the best - instead he has joined the best to "do what was right for LeBron James". If he really thought long and hard about the "LBJ legacy" he would have stayed in Cleveland until he hit 30 and if he still had no ring then reassessed - not turn his back at only 25yo.

He won't like what guys like Barkley and Reggie Miller are saying about him right now

Its been awhile since I last posted here and it seems alot has change.

I have read alot of post in this thread and most of it are hating/disliking Lebron for what he decided to do in his life. I am sure that most of you have flaws, too...

I have followed the Cavs for 5 years and I have seen alot of funny things happened in that organisation and I'm convinced that they are not as good as alot of people think.

Just wait and see how the Miami Heat runs their offense. I'm sure alot of you will enjoy Miami's game from now on. I hope 10HD gets alot of Miami Heat games this coming season so I can watch alot of exciting games of basketball...

Has Barkley said something? Because I really wanna hear what he thinks...love his opinions

Pretty much everyone has flaws noone is perfect (except Slobby) thats a given, so it's not even worth going there but a guy like this has a lot more responsibility on his shoulders than me and probably you (not knowing your background/history etc.) and hey they may be the best team to watch but it's doesnt mean what his done is right. You say the cavs aint the greatest franchise and have done some bad things, so do you belive in an eye for an eye? Because LeBron in my opinion has taken a lot more than an eye, his taken a heart!

yeh I agree its not the same.. weren't in there primes at the time.. I just meant easy way out to get a championship.. thats all I meant

jimbo.. if your reading this .. again I agree with bjs127 here. thats all I meant just didnt explain as good

Early television ratings for ESPN indicate there was twice as much interest in LeBron James' decision on where to play in the city he is leaving than in the city he's going to.

The Nielsen Co.'s overnight measurement in the nation's 56 biggest cities show more than seven of every 100 homes with television sets was tuned to ESPN to see where James would play. It's expected to be the biggest audience ESPN has ever gotten for a news program.

In Cleveland, "The Decision" drew a staggering 26 rating — meaning more than one in four homes had TVs tuned to ESPN to see James say he was leaving his hometown Cavaliers for the Miami Heat.

In Miami, the show had a 12.8 rating.

Yep no worries mate I totally understand.

Wow ok....... just got through all 19 pages of this......

Really didn't think this was gonna happen..... Heat nabbing the 3 top prizes is just crazy.... they must have had to order a few cases of Kleenex over there!

Seriously though.... whilst Bron coulda handled the situation a LOT better, I can't say I blame him for deciding to go & play with those two other guys..... maybe he didn't wanna wait another 5 years & THEN decide to do that route as you guys have suggested... maybe he wanted to try & win as many rings as he could...... now.

Sure it would of been better for his legacy to of stayed in Cleavland, but he obviously didn't see a chance of them getting any more stars in there... I mean if they couldn't get them in the last few years, then what better chance would he have after he resigned with them? I just think he really wanted to win...... as harsh as that is to Cleavland, I feel sorry for them , I do..... just a crappy situation to deal with.

Well after thinking about it for a little while, Bron is still a first rate knob (has just managed to surpass Kobe which i thought was impossible).

No way anyone can surpass Kobe I'm afraid in the nob category in my books... Kobe has that one pretty well locked up.

we saw something similar at the laker not long ago, payton, malone, kobe, shaq etc... too many stars, no team! lets hope this doesnt happen to the heat!

As Jimbo has said already, quite a different situation...... Malone was like 40 lol & Payton wasn't even a shadow of his former self.

lebron sucks. please don't compare this new trio to the aging trio of boston or the superstar lakers from the early 70s and mid 80s. at least boston sent some quality players and picks the other way when acquiring old fogies garnett and allen. there were less teams in the early 70s and less money as well. same with the 80s. miami got two superstar franchise players for zilch. cleveland and toronto will be reeling for years to come because they weren't even given the opportunity to start again with draft picks/a star player in return. that is the real crime.

LBJ is a business man. By leaving CAVS, he has created a storm and now he'll probably earn even more money on interviews/ books/tv shows from this decision. Everyone will now want want to sell his "exit-strategy" story. I don't think he cares about legacy when his making all this money.

What do you guys think?

More money? Bron has supposedly taken a cut to go to Miami. So a pure business man would not have taken a cut for his job. Who knows what drives LBJ other than success the easy way?

And is there any difference between having a net worth of $800m instead of $900m?? He's still got the groceries covered...

Why would anyone want to move to Miami with all its awesome beaches and hot babes when you could stay in the beautiful city of Cleavland?

What was he thinking?

Finally a good use for that song, "I'm in Miami *****"!!!!!

Whoah! Fisher to meet with Pat Riley?!?! Now this would be the biggest bi@tch move in NBA history! :O

Los Angeles Lakers free agent Derek Fisher to meet with Miami Heat president Pat Riley - ESPN Los Angeles

Wow, the heat are going hard on free agency, I still think Lebron should of stayed in Cleveland and tried to win a championship there, hes still young, took jordan a few seasons to win one.

haha now Fisher? This is going insane i think they are going to land another pretty big name like Fisher, just who is going to take the paycut for a shot

Re: Lebron to Miami

and yet Washington did not win the championship, so this is irrelevant.

No it's not.

I'm not addressing whether they will win the championship or not. I am addressing whether they can co-exist on the same team while still getting there shots.

And like my post said, if the Wizards could have 3 guys average 20+ why can't the Heat, regardless of whether they win the ring next season or not.

You obviously didn't understand the intention of my post.

The way LeBron exited is definitely a crime. But him exiting is not a crime - only the method in which he did it.

Dan Gilbert is making himself look like a real kid right about now. Good luck getting a superstar to go and play with an owner like that.

But hey... I guess one thing we learnt about this is that LeBron James is only a human! Just like all of us.

Hell I know most people won't agree. But LeBron James did what's best for LeBron James.

He wants to win championships - that after all is the aim of the game. So he's going to Miami because he thinks he has the best shot to do it there.

All this talk about him not being equal to MJ now, he'll never be Kobe, he is robbing us of his dominant individual performances etc.

Do you really think he cares? As fans obviously we'd all like him to do it on his own so we can continue elevating him and for our own satisfaction and experience of watching amazing moments in the game.

But he just wants to win. He is doing what he think is best for him.

If I was in his shoes I'd do the same thing.

The only legitimate gripe I have with him are these two:

1) The manner in which he communicated his departure with Cleveland was NOT ON
2) He's obviously not as competitive as I thought he was, which is devastating for fans who wanted to see him make history
