2010-11 Elite Black also springs to mind as one of the biggest rip-offs in recent times.
They could even be arsed putting a decent gloss finish on those cards, hence nearly all black box cards having worn corners.

My only experience is seeing what other people are busting. I don't buy Panini, I think they're a ripoff - and this product is a massive example of that. They're using the appeal of the Bullion tags and Solid Golds to con people into buying the product at insane prices, then leaving them with worthless rubbish in return.
It's gambling, except unlike most other products the reward is so far out of reach that it's hardly worth playing.
I do like their Limited product, but I want actual collectors (especially younger ones) being able to buy a box and then not have to sit on a donut for weeks after their raping.
I'm just advising any people thinking about possibly buying this product that it is incredibly overpriced and that IMO people shouldn't buy it and hopefully Panini will learn that they can't get away with this crap.
People should open boxes for fun. But it's hardly fun when you spend $200 on a box and end up with nothing but junk, unless you get really excited by a jersey card or auto of a scrub-average player for your $200.
I think they also need to ease up on the redemptions. Seen a 3 box break with 5 redemptions cmon now thats just plain stupid. If we could get them redeemed and in hand in a few days/week tops then it might be ok. But we all know that just does not happen. They are flooding these 2011/2012 XRC whatever redemptions onto the market. Which really = less money when the cards come out due to the numbers
If its the same 3 box break that I saw, it should be noted that two boxes had extra cards inserted in them, which I am guessing would be these redemptions, so it is not as bad as it sounds.
And I would hardly consider 1 rookie card per box "flooding the market".
And to give you an example of a recent redemption experience of mine - I sent off a Preferred Auto redemption and received it back within 3 weeks. And a more long term view of Panini redemptions - I have redeemed just over 20 cards, not a single issue (really hope I havent just jinxed myself), and I cant imagine I am the only one, surely.
That leads us to a whole nother Panini rant... Another kick in the guts from the only company with the NBA licence...
There are some things they have done like your redemption issue which I dont agree with (by the way have you gone on twitter to chase up the CSM manager who has helped out a lot of people?) but you really seem like a glass half empty sort of person.
Cheer up sunshine.....

Hey, I like the product they put out for Limited. I just think Gold Standard is a massive ripoff.
Answer is simple, dont buy it.....and if people do....wish them good luck with their breaks! They might just pull something you want!
Cheers

Someone said this earlier and I'll say it again with a quantifier - buying any wax is a gamble. Just because you've seen people get bad breaks doesn't mean everyone is. A guy over at beckett busted a box with two 14 ct gold material cards - 1 was a patch of Isiah Thomas. A very sweet break. I don't buy high-end, instead I stick to low-end but even then I've had some absolutely random luck. But just because I have good luck with - say - prestige, doesn't mean the next person will have the same good luck.

There's no way in hell I'd buy it.... and if people do... I wish them a time machine so they could not waste their money.
If they truly enjoy the busting, then that's fine. However if they're busting in the hope of pulling something remotely worth their outlay, they're almost certain to be disappointed... especially at TWO GRAND a case.
