Yeah i gave up in August last year, had been smoking for about 10-12 years. I only really gave up cos i got sick and couldnt smoke for a week or so and after that i just thought nope thats it i wanna be around for my kids when they grow up.
I havent looked back since, i just went cold turkey but could only do that cos i was to sick to smoke. Still have the craving pretty much everyday but still hanging tough.
I smoked for 15 years and to tell you the truth - I loved every minute of it. We have a baby due in 7 weeks and frankly I didnt want to be around or pick up my baby with smoke all over me. It apparently increases thier chance of lung cancer in later life by up tp 50% just being around them with smoke on your clothes. I'm not sure I believe that but having a baby is probably the only reason I would have ever quit.
So I've been off them for 1 month and 11 days. I used Champix to get off them and it's worked a treat! I would definitely recommend Champix for anyone who wants to quit.
I also got an application for my iphone which gives you goals etc etc. Here's my current stats since I quit:
- Cigarettes not smoked: 738
- Money saved: $344.40
- People who have died of smoking related disease since I quit: 609,396
