Gasol for Rondo?

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/01/report-celtics-aggressively-shopping-rajon-rondo/

Boston is aggressively shopping Rondo, according to sources. The Celtics find Rondo’s personality to be too high-maintenance and his clashes with coach Doc Rivers continue. With the Celtics having realized they are no longer title contenders, they don’t believe the payoff is worth the headaches Rondo brings, sources say. And they do not want to build around him.

There are many things they could try, to help the team now or in the future, or to clear salary space. Here are some ideas.

Rondo
to LA with O'Neal, Bass, Dooling for Gasol, D Morris, 1st
to Tor with Bass, Dooling for Bargnani, Barbosa
to NO with O'Neal for Kaman, Jack, Minnesota 1st
to Pho with Wilcox, Bass for Nash, Lopez
to Atl with Bass, Wilcox, Moore for Hinrich, Williams, Teague, Dampier

Gasol and Garnett in the paint together would be hard for teams to counter, and the Lakers get an upgrade at point guard.
Bargnani needs a new team, and with him on the floor the Celtics could surround Garnett with four 3-point shooters. Toronto might blow things up and send Calderon and other veterans away, so Rondo at point guard could help them create a new and defensive team.
New Orleans could get a new All-Star point guard, Celtics would get a huge centre they need and while they may just use him to clear cap space the draft pick could be useful for the future.
The Phoenix trade is the fun one people talk about, letting Nash have a shot at a championship as he passes to three future HoF players. Lopez is tall and can block shots. Suns get a point guard for the future to replce Nash.
The Atlanta trade hasn't been mentioned anywhere, but the Celtics would add depth and maybe clear salary while the Hawks get the passer and defender at guard to combine with Johnson's shooting.

The Celtics don't have a lot of trade chips, and Garnett and Allen's expring contracts probably help the Celtics more than the players they could get for them in a trade. Trading Rondo could bring in the size the Celtics need, and they can get by for the rest of the year with the offense being run through Pierce.

Really??? I'd say a lineup of Nash, Allen, Pierce, Garnett and Lopez could beat anyone.
That team "could" beat anyone but on more occasions than not they wouldnt. Still a very old team by NBA standards and would get run off there feet. I think Rondo is a big part of their D and the swap for Nash hurts their D which is what they r all about really.

They said the same thing about Dallas last year. Too old, no way they'll beat the heat.Then......BOOM, Dallas win.

But Boston would need to avoid a first round series vs Bulls or Heat.

Nobody runs anyone off their feet in the Finals.

Totally agree that Rondo heads up their D. He is their best player. I'm just not too sure they'll trade him. I'm still thinking it will be Ray Ray to Dallas? Spurs? Chicago?

Celts and Lakers are surely gonna make a splash before the deadline?

To Spurs?? No thanks! We are old enough!

Wow, I would love to see Ray Allen in the corner when Parker and a big run a pick and roll. Allen is THE BEST 3 point shooter OF ALL TIME!!!!

The Spurs have loads of 3 point plays. Bring him in I say.

No true!! He has hit the most 3's of all time... but the BEST 3pt shooter would be the person with the best 3pt % over a qualified amount of shots... wouldn't it?? Which is Steve Kerr. Out of active players, Stephen Curry (not enough shots taken over only 3 seasons though) or Anthony Morrow! Even Matt Bonner has a better %.

3pt shooters is probably the last thing the Spurs need IMO. We have Bonner, Neal, Green, Jefferson and can work with Leonard.

I would rather see a replacement for Jefferson... Jefferson in his prime is what we need!

Jefferson for Allen would be great.

I rate all those guys you just mentioned but Ray Allen has done it time and time again, not just in the regular season.

We really don't need Jefferson, I'd like to see another big in the deal with Allen:) Ha ha, wishful thinking.

Are you seriously saying Curry, Morrow and Bonner are better than Allen? Bud, wake up. Those first 2 play on chump teams. They would not be as highly scouted in games as Allen. No doubt they are very nice players/shooters. But the Spurs don't play for the regular season or round 1. They go for the Championship or it's a failure. How do you know Morrow would hold up in an intense playoff series? Although Curry just might, he's classy.

Go Spurs!!!!!

p.s. Gasol for Rondo = no way

Well lets bring Steve Kerr back. Maybe get Bruce Bowen, David Robinson and Avery Johnson too.
