when I was playing at Kingston there used to be the best masters team playing down there. Was pretty funny to try and see the young punks outrun them and then get outclassed by the old guys

my comps are coming to a close...we've secured 1st place in both, so semi finals next week

I havent been in great form, really coasting through games - mostly because its been single coverage and Im just not that geared up to have iso plays...semi final time I'll bust out the face melting jumpers though

but at the "brickpit", lots of the friday night games aren't that serious. obviously every team wants to win the game, but it's not taken as seriously as at other clubs, another reason why the Hornsby basketball assocation is so bad compared to others.

still a bit peeved off, not a huge deal, it's only the first game of the season, but my driving layup had tied the game at 45-45 and we had a chance to win it, that's just frustrating.

one of the two referees even told the other referee "it's meant to be 45 all.!"

but nothing happened. oh well.

After our crushing loss last week, I'm ready for tonight's game. Especially after hearing that one of our quick/flashy guards won't be playing.

We should bring this one home, it's the game against the young guys. Hopefully they show some spirit this time, as last game we played them, they jacked triples all night, and RARELY drove for layups.

We try to encourage them as much as possible.

Ooops, bit of a missed-adventure last week... I didnt post results.

Well, last weeks game was actually against another team, not the young guys (they were this weeks).

Don't recall much from last week, we won, don't think I did much, just the usual.

This week...

Beat the young guys by about 25 I think. we were down after 1, that was cool. Up by 2 at half, then ran away with it in the 3rd and 4th.

I had 5 points, layup, and 3/4 FTs (took a 3, and no jumpers other than that). Probably picked up about half a dozen dimes, some easy back-door cuts, leading to open dishes, it was nice! Actually, it was nice seeing our guys cutting!!!

Had 1 sweet block that lead to fast break 2. Basically got him with my forearm (much like Josh Howard on Brad Miller last week, he he he), got posession, dished it off, then that got lobbed for a fast break duece.

Ref'd the 2nd game, that was cool. Had to call a guy for an un-sportsman-like foul, they were going for posession (loose ball) and he basically man-handeled him out of the way to get to the ball. Wasnt on. He was cool about it tho.

New Round next week, still atop the ladder I believe? Not sure tho, the team that beat us 2 weeks ago (face them next Wednesday), MIGHT have the same W/L as us. Look forward to it!!

Well, tonight was meant to be retribution night... the night we could get revenge on the flogging we were dealt last time we met with the team we played (tonight)....

Not sure what went wrong, or if we were meant to take the left turn back at albakerky....

We were dealt another crushing blow, about 20 points worth of blow.

Worse thing... they didnt have the 2 guys who tranced us last time, it was just their regular side.

We were losing a LOT of bad calls, clear obvious arm-reefers, side-swipes, basic cleanup duty, and it hurt us bad.

I started the game off with a bang.... well, more like a crack. Was in perfect position to receive the opening tap, when BAAM!! Rolled my ankle.... I was ok, played through it, but it slowed me a lot.

I won't go into too much detail, got a Tech for some of my troubles in the 3rd. Ended up top scoring for our side with 17. Thought that was pretty nice.

Didnt really do much else, a few boards, the usual.

One thing that really kicked me in the nuts, in the 4th, went on the drive, got fouled, points counted. Missed the FT, we got the off-reb, I got it back, drove, got the foul, shot went in, and it was waived off.... WHAA?? Ok, so I asked, why.... "because it went in after I blew the whistle.... 2 shots"....

Now I then proceeded to say, if I get 2 shots, the points should count as I was on the drive, and scored... OR... it should be no score, side ball....

The other ref jumped in, and said "she called it, her call stands, 2 shots"....

WTF...

Anyways, I've had enough of ref-bashing, I understand they don't get paid for it, and they put their hand up to help out, it just pisses me when they change the rules, or ignore calls...

I'm sure we're sitting #2 on the ladder now, surely we'd have to be.

Hopefully next week brings better results...

Ohhh tough luck with the calls tonighht scotty! At least you can take the positive away from it, top scoring for your team! Good job! I'd hate to see how muchh you lose by when the two "trancers" return. hehe.

They beat us by about 30 when they had the other 2. Doesn't look like they'll be back tho, so that's a good sign. We just have to work on trying to put them away, 1-2 against them, not good...

Back into action again tonight. Again, not good results, we lost by 9 according to the Score Sheet, and only 5 on the Score Board.

Apparently we got done over on the scores, they were putting points on thiers then taking them off, but failing to put on ours. Oh well.


Not top scorer, only scored 13 (2nd on team), including another triple, WOW, must be the Moon???

Had a pretty decent game really, a few boards, and dimes, so I was happy. Would have been happier with the W, but oh well. I'm starting to have fun, rather than in it to win it mentality.

Hopefully next week is similar to this week, but would be good to get a win. 3 in a row would be bad for our rankings.

LAST WEEK:
Well last weeks' results were quite interesting...

Started the game, and played out the 1st quarter, we were down by 2 at the end.

Sat out first for the 2nd, and while I was on the bench, one of our guys were fouled on a layup. The guy defending ended up getting a Tech for his trash talk to the ref. No probs.

He then proceeded to keep talking shit, as they do, so he got ejected...

We tried to calm our guys down, as they were a little heated, but not expressing it.

The other team started to get rowdy, and after copping too much abuse, the ref called the game off. Packed up and went home.

So I travelled up, ref'd the first game, played 10 mins of our game, and went home again.

Needless to say, the Ref actually awarded us the game, not sure how, but since he runs the show, and runs the sport centre, he's free to do as he pleases.

LAST NIGHT:
We had Team #3 in the comp (there's team #1 - above, and us @ #2, then the young guys @ #4).

So last night, we got the win, in what was probably our lowest scoring game. They had a couple of new guys, who were OK, but not great (if I can beat em, they're not that great, as I'm not that great).

Their big guy, he's about 6-2, he's a tall bastard, he was the one doing the damage. He ended up with 12, top scorer for them, and equal for the night.

I ended up top scoring for us, with 12 also, while one of our guards, usually known to score the most, he ended up with 10.

I got swatted twice, once was a volleyball spike, I felt bad, so I got it back, got it down low, took one bounce, pivotted, and got some room for a left-hand hook, it was great.

Then late in the 4th, I was trying to post up this little guy, man he was pestering me, so I pinned him behind me, and he kept grabbing my shirt, and pulling my arms, and shit, so I pinned him again, this time he tried to front me, so one of our guys ripped it in to me, and I had an open layup.

CLANG... lol, I ended up missing, but it went over the rim on the bounce, and I was able to recover the rebound, and put it back up.

Was a really great game, we all felt great about it.

Next week is against #4, so that should be reletively easy. Then our final game will be the decider against team #1. (we're 2-2 for the season). Then the finals start.

I've had a couple of games back in the new season - first won we won 60-50 and I managed about 22-12 - then last game was a cracker - after 6 minutes we were up 14-1 against last yr's 2nd place team (we came 4th) then they came back into it like we knew they would (one of those annoying never give up teams!!) and at the break we were up 35-32. We came steaming outa the gates again in the 2nd half and went up 53-40 but they slowly mowed us down and it was tied at 62. Then we hit a crucial jumper and also picked up a foul for a 65-62 lead with 50 ticks left. They missed a 3 and we tried to run down the clock - then our bonehead skipper jacks up an awful 3 attempt (he hit one all of last yr!!) - misses and they get another chance!! Luckily I got a lazy hand in the way and we got the ball back - we played hot potato until I threw a dicey pass which ended up out - their ball with 3 ticks left!! They lobbed it right over the court and the dude threw up a 3 for the tie just after the horn......and missed - awesome game - we had about 40 people from the game after us watching and cheering - had a real buzz on!
Personally had a much quieter one about 8-10 but 2-0 to start the new year!!

Well played ball 3 weeks ago in D Grade (first time in 8 months) lopsided game we trounced the others 103 - 41

Managed to get me 11 of 17 on the triples, for 47 points all up. about 7 swats as well.

Big tall guys can shoot.... sometimes.
