It is a little head scratching. I thought about trying to take it up a notch and outdo his confusing approach by sending him back his empty envelope inside a Padded Bag with a note saying "I think you need this more than me"

i take no pleasure in trying to sell the card. any1 who knows me knows how much i love my 2008 centenary set and the pride it takes in my display cabinet with my other cards. but the fact is i need 63k by january at the latest. if i do sell it than im not gonna give it away as i would much prefer to keep it but if some1 wants it for that price than so be it
