Ebay Sell #499

Thanks for the greeting. I'm a importer. I used to have a card shop for about 7 years, and closed it for family business at 1999. Just eBay for fun at first 2 years ago to get rip of my old stock, but people keep on buying, so I keep on doing it for that couple of hours a night.

I hope everyone can see that my 1st post is for for everyone here. IT'S FOR A SELECTED FEW. Yes, you know who you are. Don't hide behind those fake ids and come out to play. Let everyone here know exactly what the real issue here is... MONEY talks, right?!

Someone did kindly tip me off about this post. I am just here to put my 2 cents worth across, before moving on and leave most of you good people enjoy the real nature of this hobby.

hi edge good on ya for responding, i only have 1 question, if you protected his secon box with cardboard why wouldnt you do it with all your boxes to avoid damage? it wouldnt add much extra weight or bulk. thanks

It's to do with size. The item in question was a 1990 Fleer Set which is really tiny. That's why I can put it in a box. Other purchases are a lot larger in size. I post my items by Express Post, which limits the size allow. When people combined their purchases which can't fit into the satchel, then I put them in a cardboard box will fill it with foam.

It also has to do with time as well. Being so busy at work during the day, and wife at night(not happy with eBay which she's right about 99%), I can only do so much for all the boxes that I have to ship. Then again as I've stated earlier, I've had boxes bubble wrapped and got damaged. That's when I just started as well. A couple of thousands of transaction later, this one happens. But it seems like the buyer is a bit fishy as he's already purchased another set from someone else! Funny with all the timing & feeback, isn't it?

jvalles69, Nothing taken to heart! I don't care what people say, as long as someone is smart enough to read between the lines.

As an outsider to this issue, I'll add a coupla cents worth...

Was ballsy to show up and put your side of the story Stephen. Not many would do that, but you probably didnt know about it till someone "tipped you off" so anyways.

I guess you did do Dream a favour and send out the 2nd box at your own expense. But also, if you did what most people do, and ensure that the package was secure from your end, then it would have been out of your hands.

The first box was sent as is, in an Express satchel yeah? Then of course if Aust Post took the pleasure in kicking it around, the box would be f-cked.

You said the box is small, so why not wrap it in a few layers of bubble wrap, and send it off. It would have been secure, one would think.

Obviously there was no lesson learnt the 2nd time around, as the 2nd one arrived the same. So you as a seller has lost out cos of a mistake, and Dream the buyer has lost out cos of a mistake... both the same mistake, and both you made.

I would have been happy to leave a negative too, if I were in the same position.

The retaliation was pretty low.... goes to show just how much you appreciate the customers.

Oh! Didn't realise he left a neg? Should have sorted it out between members, I've had some dodgy dealings here and on ebay, but have kept them quite because it is the seller and the buyers business. "Nuff said, I'm butting out, none of my business!

Yeah but he was only asking for advice. Rightly so too. We've all been in awkward positions to need advice. I'm usually on the phone at around 8am to Chad, others post here. lol.

I guess this post helps other members here know how 8088edge works, and doesnt respect the customer enuff to take care of their parcels.

my 2 cents:

It was your responsibility to get the product to the buyer safely - you did not do this by skimping/being lazy/not having enough time on packaging. Simply bubble wrapping may have saved this problem

BUT ultimately as the seller when someone purchases something from you, they expect that you will do enough to ensure the product arrives in the condition that they purchased it.

I guess a few of you still don't see what's going on here.

The buyer has already purchased the same item as he had posted in this forum earlier. By the time my item arrived, what do you think he can do with it??? He just asked for a refund caliming the item is damaged. It's not going to cost him anything more or less. He can only benefit from such, so why won't he make up such thing.

"That's just the way I treat my customer". That's right. When people try to take advantage of me, what else can I do here. Let him rip me off instead? Just because he left me neg feedback, and ask me not do, I should just sit back and let him have all the fun???

If you said it's my mistake to send the 2nd item, did you even know/think why I placed it within another thick Cardboard box, which is made to hold car parts?

No matter what the condition of the item when arrived, the buyer will not accepted it becasue HE"S GOT ANOTHER ONE without telling me. That's why he wanted refund ONLY!

Firstly well done edge on coming here to put across your point of view. I give you a lot of credit for that. Well done.

Secondly, if you put the second item in a thick cardboard box, well done. It is important for cards to be properly packed, and this is a big issue for users here.

Thirdly, I think that this comment is unfair:

Clearly you are suggesting that the buyer made up that the second item was damaged. I dont think that's fair. I think you should withdraw that allegation.

Everyone here has the option whether they buy edge's products. Hopefully some points about packaging can be taken onboard. Well done edge on coming here to put across your point of view.

My 5c worth would be that I don't think the buyer asking for a refund had anything to do with having bought another box elsewhere, I think it was because the box was damaged and no protection was used.

I have also bought (multiple) boxes off you, most of them came a little damaged but it did not damage the cards (Luckily) but all of them have come in an express post bag with NO PADDING what so ever. Now I know the size of the bag had heaps of room for some padding so why couldn't you have used it ??? All we are saying is if there is room to use padding then why not do it ??? If being too busy is your answer then maybe you should reduce your output to improve quality service.

I Personally have had no issues with your products but protecting the boxes is a bone of contention with card collectors so we are very vocal when it comes to discussing it. As a final note - Most of us have our eBay ID's displayed with our Message board Id's on the eBay Links page so none of us are hiding at all

Firstly welcome with your point of view. But we dont hide behind names here as this a small message board where we all know who each other are ;-) Our ozcard faces thread and real names attest to that. Don't mix us up with most internet boards. We look after our own here and when we hear stories of members being screwed over with both postage and bullshit negs we get behind them.

If you don't have enough time to pack something well then don't ship it till you do. Its not Aussie posts fault if you dont adequately protect something.

The buyer paid for a set and you let him down IMO. What cause you have to neg him I don't know? How did he let YOU down?? As a buyer he has done all he can to buy the product he wanted and recieve it in the conditon he should have.

Since this I've heard from a lot of members about recieving boxes etc sent sent from you poorly with little care to the damage to the cards. I find that more informative than your post telling us why you were hardly done by. Its all constructive criticism that you can use along with some bubble wrap ;-)

Retalitory negs aren't tolerated here and it would of been reversed. Its either pack properly here or don't deal at all. Its all about being considerate of the other memeber/buyer you are sending too.

2nd Not one person has hid behind anything. This is a tight nit community were lots of respect is shown for each other. Don't come here making acusation about people you know shit about. Your just going to get everyone off side.

3rd You sent me the 1st box in a express post bag with no protection but some scrunched up newspaper(loose), Their is more than one member that has stated they have had a box arrived from you in some way damaged. Thats a solid percentage of bball card collectors in Aust. They were lucky that more recent boxes consist of better packaging otherwise they would be in the same boat.

4th- I sent you photo's of the first box for proof and was ingnored, then after multi email you finally replyed saying you would dodge up something with AUST POST saying the package never arrived. I emailed you once or twice a week for updates but didn't get much but "This will be a long process"
obviously to draw it out past the paypal date. As they would have given me the refund straight up. I gave you a couple of hours to reply to my email about the second package(which was sent inside another box but the lid was not sealed shut with tape, which ended up damaging the cards as they slid out of the box.) You didn't respond so I thought I would forward a post to these members for their trusted knowlage (& experience) to help me out.
To cover myself put through a refund (as 60days was enough waiting) thru paypal but it was rejected as 35 days was up . So I did one thru ebay, You managed to respond to their complaint within half an hour but still hadn't responded to me.(Which was 2 hours earlier )Therefore I felt that it was obvious you were ignoring me so I left you the Neg. I can post photos of the damaged cards and boxes if anyone wants proof.

5th You emailed me after I sent you the first email saying the box arrived damaged, telling me to leave feedback, but I had done evrything right by you pay within 24hours but you hadn't left me feedback until I left the neg. You know you were in the wrong. I don't see the point of selling so many items If you dont have the time to make sure the sale is done RIGHT!!!!

Welcome Edge! I am not trying to have a go at you, but just stating my opinion

IMO, respected ozcard member Dream had every right to leave appropriate feedback, in this case a negative. From what I understand it was nearly two months since payment was made and goods were not delivered in a satisfactory condition that is expected. 60 days is too long to wait in any case. Lucky the cards weren't a birthday present.

Edge - Are the items you import damaged stock and in bad condition when you receive? If not, why would you send them un-protected to others? I only sell a few items on ebay that require Aust Post satchel bags and have ALWAYS used bubble wrap and a box if required. It is a pain in the arse, but doesn't cost much and takes about 50 seconds to do - helps avoid situations like this too.

Just for interest, had a similar scenario with a different seller I recently bought a few AFL sets off. Bought 5 sets and they came in a 3kg satchel wrapped in only paper. :shock: Two sets were write offs. I won them pretty cheap and decided not to make anything of it. I left positive feedback mentioning the damage(in f'back). The seller contacted me and immediately offered to send two new sets for no cost. The cards arrived within days, in bubble wrap and a postpak mailer box, then put in a satchel. This guy learnt his lesson and fixed the problem. I will buy from him again for sure.
