Early Predictions

as far as i know. pre season training has gone well. taylor is fitting in well. but i personally think he will be a flop at rabbitohs.

I think some of the older more experienced players will be good for Taylor he showed some great skill at the Broncos and the fact that he now plays for the rabbitohs isn't going to change that,I think he is only going to improve over the next few years into a great player and it won't matter where he is playing football,Lang will get the best out of him,Burgess and Ross.I guess we will know by week 6 next year if they are meshing as a team and if they really are going to be contenders in 2010.

definitely if burgess and taylor are on song they will be one of the worst threats in the comp. i just think they need a couple star players in the backline as they by far have the best forward pack already

Nice predictions dazla and welcome to OCT!

Radiers have always gone good in U20 so they will be good in a few years if not too many leave the club. Players like Carney, Dugan, McCrone, Croker, Waddell and Thompson

I am going to add anothre Wooden Spoon:
Roosters

I believe th spoon will go to Raidaer or Warriors as they have both lost QUALITY players and not really picked up anyone.

Knights have prety much the same squad and they came 7th. And I think Roosters will go okay with the new signngs like Carney and Ryles.

Young player who will shine - Vidot
Young player who will flop - Idris
Retiring player - Price
Player who will go to jail or court- Todd Carney
Rep player of the year - Inglis
Coach of the year - Furner

Haha, not a chance. While we have only made one signing, Danny Galea, we didn't lose a single player that we wanted to keep. Phil Graham was the only regular first grader we lost and he is injured so often he won't be missed. Croker, Vidot and Carney all played as good or better than him last year.

Yeah Newcastle will do o.k. with the 4 key positions well covered (and utility types) they should be their at the business end:

1 Gidley
6 Jarrod Mullen
7 Scott Dureau
9 Isaac DeGois

Canberra will win enough games at home to avoid the bottom end of the table.

Cronulla...well they are a good chance, but Ricky is a good enough man manager and coach to ensure they have a good run at some point in time.

Warriors..who knows they might even win the comp they are that hard to predict at times.

Penrith....another good chance because of Elliott, they have the cattle to be a contender.

My thinking for the Roosters for the spoon, is the culture change Smith will bring and a subconscious resentment from the "Latte lads" to hard work effectively making them implode.... Ryles and Carney are good buys and Anasta to lock....they could even make the 8 but there's nothing like a wild prediction or two. :D

Cheers
Ross

Hmm, didn't the Rabbitohs score the most number of tries in the 26 round regular season this year? Their backs are pretty good, I reckon! Merritt is the gun.

I don't know how anyone can ever rate Canberra as wooden spoon candidates! They always win a heap at home, and will never be in contention.

Ditto for Newcastle, but they should challenge next year ... they now have a quality side of youngsters who have got quite a bit of experience ... and have been improving each season since they came together in 2008. The prop shortage of this season should be rectified with Evarn Tuimavave being signed, and hopefully Tolar and Cross playing a few more games. The only variable is new coach Rick Stone, but so far he seems to be doing a good job.

Cronulla would be my wooden spoon favourites, but it wouldn't surprise me if they improved on last year. Don't think they'll make the eight, though.

No way in hell the Sharks will get the spoon, People will hear more about Scott Porter, the dudes a gun.
I really think Souths can win the comp next year though.
Whoever signs Bird will improve heaps.

Not often a half comes straight into first grade and dominates though, he'll need a few years to get up to speed.

I forgot that Easts came last this year, my money is actually on them to do it again this season, especially with Brian Smith running a broom through them (although they might take it a bit better than the Knights did).

And eww, who would even want Bird, the guy's a total idiot. Cronulla did okay without him at the backend of 2008, didn't seem to miss him much.

Didnt seem to miss him much? I have no doubt that they wouldve beaten Melbourne in the prelim final and wouldve put up a far better effort than losing 40-0 against Manly.
Bird was the main reason they even finished equal top of the table.
I just love how all other NRL teams stick with their disgraced stars yet Cronulla give Bird the flick and he was then found not guilty. Now some other NRL team is going to benefit from it. Very uncool.
