Dominance 2020 (series 2) discussion thread

One would assume if the case price across the board is $2800 and there is no wholesale then this would mean just the normal cards will have to go up for people to get there money back - so collectors will be paying a lot more for their low end cards.... this is going to sting..

Yes and no

While flippers can try, demand dictates price. We could see high end cards go "higher" while low end stays the same.

I think it just really depends on the caliber of the low end cards rather than being no wholesale.

i agree that demand dictates price 100% - i was just saying that the asking price now will have to be increased because for a return on a case the seller needs to get much more out of his/her single cards.. im just saying at the start of the release prices will be much higher than in previous years... prices will or should plateau but this is not guaranteed.

I believe there is still wholesale pricing but just limited order amounts. So yes some will be forced to buy retail if they want more and that will in turn increase the asking price of some cards as the sellers need recoup their spend

Price wise I think we all know what the trends are......

Prices will start High then drop VERY quickly as flippers flip and breakers break and break and break........

If you buy your cards during this phase you will get them at very reasonable prices; big name players will always cost a mint but if you wait then they will either cost a mint plus a mint or not be available.

The breaking era makes it much easier to access the cards you want but the disadvantage is that productions sell out much faster meaning if you sit back and wait too long then there is no chance at the card you want popping up at a reasonable price as they are all out of the packs/boxes and in collectors hands.

A great example of this is the Ablett Next Generation Dual Signature Card; they started at about $1000-1200 then the market flooded with them and some sold for $700 😳 but now try and find one for under $1500!

Last but not least You need to factor the NBA boom into this; the NBA box price has gone nut! Boxes I bought for $40-50 are now selling for $250-300 and the NBA collectors are looking for something more affordable to bust and SUPREMACY gave them the insight into just how affordable and fun AFL boxes are to break. In steps Dominance 2020.......the NBA collectors will pounce, mark my words! This is the X-Factor; will it have an effect on the card prices? I think no but I think it will definitely increase the box sales and how quick this release sells out.

All very good points, can see NBA People jumping on as that has become almost impossible to afford

Exactly right, releases from this modern era of cards tend to go in a "U' shape pricing wise - first few days of release they are real hot before flippers etc try to recuperate funds and cards end up dropping dramatically. Weeks and months after the market begins to dry up (especially for the big clubs) and cards head back up - if you are wanting to sell, sometimes it is best to be patient ;)

even the american collectors are dropping off with the ridicules box prices..many can just not afford to drop $500/600 on a box.
hope this problem never hits our AFL world
