Does this warrant a Neg? I think so...

Deserved a neg. For first timers who don't know the actual shipping costs, this is deception on the sellers part. Whether they list it in their auction or not, they are deceiving the buyer by way overcharging on the shipping when it only costs 0.97 cents.
I can't stand the just plain stupid comments they give, some I've had regarding overcharging on shipping are: "I have to wait in line", "I have to fill out a form", "I had to pay for currency conversion" (I paid in US dollars! idiot!), "I had to pay ebay fees for listing the item" (why the hell should I pay YOUR fees!), "I had to put gas in my car to drive to the post office" etc, etc.

Just be weary in future.

Maybe its because in the US everything is made so you don't have to even stand up so even writing out a form seems sooooooo dam hard. They even have drive through banks and ATMs over there!

NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEGNEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him NEG him. I agree with the "neg".

In regards to the $7 other sellers charge, I would have referred that those sellers also send "Global Priority" which is $5.25 for postage & $1.60 for US Postal charge (I have had a few sellers mention this).

$5 for a 50c envelope & 97c stamp is robbery though. Auction may have stated the cost, but not the how/method of card transit. It would be safe to presume a padded mailer & $1.97 stamp for that price.

I had a seller charge me $9 for combined postage for 3 items, which I presumed would've been Global Priority, but no, got padded bag & $1.97 postage. I also had 2 other sellers charge more than $2 over what they would've spent, so I just got sick of 'em and left neutral or negative.

I say Neg him but you risk him returning the Neg in return.

From personal experience (almost) all sellers do that.

Recently I was charged $15 for postage for 3 tee's but it only cost the seller $6.90 for postage.

I guess the Dick head sellers figure we won't bother chasing up a overcharge of a couple of dollars.

i hate giving neg's but no padded env and 40-60 min yeah right, probably sending 20 other packages at the same time so i would probably neg

Im a occasional seller on Ebay, but a much bigger buyer. The times I have sold, twice I've stood in line at the PO for half an hour.
I really think the $5 is fair (except the fact there was no padded mailer, that should be common sence practice). I routinely pay $5 for shipping, if I want the card you will pay the price.
If I was dealing on Ebay for a living, jeez I'd like to think at an hourly rate I'm worth maybe $20 an hour at the very least. It's just not a case of the mailer was worth 90c, some people live nowhere near a PO, maybe they had to catch a bus (being a younger person), etc.
And by the way did you ask regarding the shipping i.e price and packaging, before you bought the card? Most big sellers state the price and the way it is going to be shipped.
Just a bit of personal experience, and a few thoughts......

$5 is absolutely fair for postage if it's well packaged.

Its when they are sent with no toploader/padded mailer etc that pisses most people off. Or the fact they charge $10 when it only really costs them $5.

I had a guy tell me just the other day his shipping to OZ was $6 even after I told him the label costs $0.90-$1.80. I queried and he came back with 'that's shipping and handling'.
I asked, so you charge $5 for handling? and he says:

"I don;t think that's unreasonable, it;s the going rate on eBay"

WTF

1 or 2 i'm fine with, 3 i'll just sigh and think oh well... but 5 or more extra charge, not on.

I'm with you there. I'll prob buy this card anyway cause I want it, but is annoying! Am happy to pay $5 shipping but thankfully most sellers charge a little less than that now :) The ones that don;t usually ship to us are best cause you start your e-mail with:
"Very interested in your card so I'm hoping you'll ship to me in Australia? I can let you know postage costs, usually $0.90-$1.80 for First Class International.
Thanks"

Then they;re almost stuck ;)

Eh I am gonna pay $5 shipping for a Marbury Patch card I won today.... but I factor that into my overall bid. Patch card costs me less than $10US I am happy :)

Hehe, no factoring for me!! If I want the card that is...in fatc...at all?? Yeah I'll go with at all. Unless it's a Best Offer card and I offer them a price 'Inclusive of shipping' ;)

if shipping is stated then that's ok if they're overcharging well factor it into your max bid. i just dont like it when they have us shipping $3 international after auction then they say $11 cuz they want priority, well put priority only on your ****in auction!

Hahaha and the number of times it's been the opposite! They charge you $15-$25 for some wizz bang shipping with tracking (high end cards) and then it arrives via regular airmail for $0.90!!!

I get the same all the time, people who profit for me, claiming to send "express" and stuff. And then arrives in bubble mailer.

In the end, i need my feedback for the stuff I need to buy, so I let slide.

But yes, it ain't right though.
