Speaking of business... what gears you gotAlso other distributors don't enforce me to purchase $3500 worth of their lower end product before they will sell the higher end boxes. That is facts. Panini and other companies of such take business on because that is good business.
So just read through this whole thread. I must say I have always thought card zone was rip off and this confirms it. It's a shame as it is so close to my work and very convenient.
So he is the sole distributor of Select in Australia? That's a joke, do select know about his disgusting anti-competitive business practices? No wonder you don't see the cards around as much if he is basically killing the wholesale market by forcing you to buy thousands of dollars worth of stuff you cant sell just so you can buy new stuff. Is that kind of behaviour even legal? Lets dob him in to the ACCC.
Where else can you go to get AFL card boxes retail online? I want to get series 2 in August but not from him.
It is not crap. I agree with most of what Owen wrote. I emailed JHL several times after speaking to Select. Rang JHL several times and then to be told I have to purchase $3500 worth of series 1 to access series 2 AFL is crap. Its bad business or smart for him but bad for the hobby.
If you were to come to me and want to purchase one box of game of thrones and I was to say no you have to purchase 4 or 5 of my blaster boxes what would you say? I'm only a small hobby stall trying to stock the AFL product my customers want. I couldn't turnover $1000 of series 1 let alone $3500. Because I didn't want series 1 he responds apply again next year.

Pety at best. Build a bridge Dave. Life is too short.
2. Part Time Dealers including On-line Dealers
This applies to Weekend Market dealers or Ebay Stores.
- All new application will be only processed between 1st / Jan to 30th/ May each year.
- Must supply a proper registered business name.
- Must have ABN
- Complete the Wholesale Application Form
- A minimum initial purchase quantity required.
The minimum quantity is 3 cases (36 boxes) or value at $3500 first purchase. This is minimum start quantity of setting up the account with JHL. Quantities of all follow up orders are flexible.
A minimum of total value of $10,000 goods to be purchased within each financial year applied to all part time, on line dealers and ebay stores.
The wholesale purchase will be disqualified in the following year if this quantity or amount has not been achieved and we will supply to new dealers.
Please note:JHL will only supply limited number of part time dealers. We will stop the process of new part time dealers’ application if we believe that there are enough part time on line dealers to supply the goods.
Actually, the main point is to make money. Treating the customer well can certainly help this, but at the end of the day the amount of profit made is obviously the goal.Usually in business the idea is to make the customer feel and think that you’re the best at what you do so they keep coming back and tell all their friends, all I see is negativity.
Mr P, I suppose I should have clarified that as Select's Australian Distributor, Select sets the guidelines as to who JHL can sell to at wholesale prices. I know that one of those requirements is that a potential reseller of the product must have the ability to turn over a certain amount of product. Fact is that if you are not interested in Series 1 and only want a few boxes etc of Series 2 then you don't meet the criteria and therefor are not eligible to buy wholesale from JHL.
Done
Hahahaha, you have been called out, explain yourself or go away.
How is a small business supposed to work with these rules? The local newsagent or hobby shop wouldn't sell 3 cases or more of every series and $10,00 worth of stock every year.
tak35bne, Card Zone and JHL basically are the same. They both trade out of the same premises by the same person. He is selling the wholesale product in his store at retail price and locking smaller businesses out of the market. It's anti-competitive practices whichever way you look at it.
If you can`t sell $10000 worth of cards in a financial year you are not a small business you are only a hobby ....
There is a major difference ......
ok fair enough, how does the newsagents get their boxes? most of them would be lucky to sell 3 boxes let alone 3 cases? Do they just buy them retail and make the money on the retail price of the packs?
