Buyer beware !!

Very sad if true, not to mention illegal as well, but what i can say is occasionally players do change their signature, i colLect NRL cards and especially a player by the name of Mark Gasnier, who had signed, cards, jersey's and all sort of memorabilia for me, then one day when he was signing stuff for a bunch of kids , who were working for some seller, they got paid per signature, his signature was changed, they actually complained amongst each other saying that they wouldn't be paid by the seller because of this..

Either way it has been a week to the day since this thread was started by Damian. Matt banned him a day ago, so he had 6 days to post some sort of reply on here and save face. Even if he was too embarassed to reply on here he could have at least withdrawn them from sale on ebay or better yet posted a video of him burning them!

you don't read PM's Richo?
Yes I do but I have YOU on my ignore list so I won't get any from you.
Plus I have to click on "view post" to see your posts....so I don't normally see anything you write, this thread is of interest to me so i bothered to click on "View post" this time. Please don't start anything here it is not the place!

One of them is from Merv Hughes which I know (reasonably well), and I can tell you that IS NOT his signature! Plus the others are not even close!
They ARE fakes and it is disgusting!

I've been collecting cricket autographs for almost 20 years. For what it's worth, definite fakes in my opinion.

Item has been reported.
There is no way that is Huss' auto!!

Good luck with that crows2009  He has been reported before, but all ebay will say is, "If you don't think it is genuine, then don't bid". But can't hurt to keep trying :)

At least it's not Tim this time (lol)

:lol: True! Couldn't be bothered starting another thread though

The worst thing about this is, that it is from a "respected ebay powerseller" so consumers are more likely to be jibbed...

Maybe OCT could send a petition to ebay to take our concerns regarding these fakes seriously. Maybe a collective approach from OCT members would receive a different reception than the complaints of one or two individuals?

Silence is normally golden......not on this occasion though Daz.

He came up with some story that his brother listed the cards under his account - even if that were true he should have taken one look at them and told his brother they were fake and not allowed him to do that.

Seems he won't show his face around here which is a very good thing. Reputation tarnished for life over $35. What a peanut.

Could this be a matter for Consumer Affairs?

This sort of thing really annoys me - it is obvious that all of us take the "investment" side of collecting seriously, and that it is also a very enjoyable hobby.

Most of us also have 1, 2 or 3 main players that we collect and to think that a major "get" is actually an out-and-out fake just makes me want to scream!!

That is why Authenticated Signatures fetch FAR more than personally obtained signatures.

I don't bother with buying personally obtained signatures because:
1. There is verry little value in them due to lack of authenticity &
2. There is no connection to the on card signature like a signature you have obtained yourself (Through the mail or in person). JMHO :)

This customer (EW) was buying from me at the time and i sent him a link to this thread. I guess he didn't believe or didn't look.
