I have never seen or heard about the ball redemptions but considering there is so many unsold cases still in the warehouse they may be still in there.
Apparently there was supposed to be a heritage jersey card in there but it didn't happen for some reason.
I love a lot of the spiel ESP give about their cards but they just don't seem to be able to produce cards to back it up. If trading cards had never been produced until now then their mistakes so far would have been acceptable. Since Select have produced so many series over the last 12 years, as a new supplier I would have gone and bought several boxes of their cards to see what mistakes they had made so I didn't make them myself. Obviously ESP didn't do this or they would not have made the basic mistakes they have done so far. The different numbers of cards being signed is also very disturbing. Buyers would have screamed at select for dishing up all the lies.......
The game used ball info was shown on all of the sales collateral including the boxes the cards were sold in:
The Heritage jersey cards were meant to be produced but they had issues with them so they decided to hold off on them. Id rather they do this than put a sub standard item in their packs.
In relation to the different numbers of cards being signed, im guessing this is to do with people not necessarily knowing the print runs and quoting different figures?
Personally, the only issues i had with the first 2 releases wasn't the cards they were producing....I mean their first release contained autos of both the Origin Captains, Test Captains and All Star Captains along with a dual auto and jersey cards (not game worn) and the ball redemptions, the issue was to do with the price of the packs and ratios of inserts. You didn't get enough bang for you buck and there were boxes were the best cards you got were the 1 in 3 parallels.
Traders had some nice cards, 2 immortal signatures, 16 young Guns signatures but the issue was the value they offered as the insert sets were too small, and there was a large gap between a 1 per box insert and the next insert up which was the Young Guns. There was no incentive to go back busting packs as it didn't take long to get all of the basic (non auto) inserts. For me quality wasn't an issue here except for a spelling mistake which they are fixing.
In this new release it appears they have taken on board the feedback that a lot of people have provided.....the value appears to be there, there are 36 signature cards and this contains a majority of the best players on each team. The Future stars autos will be highly sought after and the design on these from the sell sheet looks pretty good.
Don't get me wrong, they aren't perfect, but they are listening trying to improve and not pumping out the same stuff year after year.
Cheers
Matt
