clichy is good. but he cant cross. and kolarov is a stronger tackler/header.
i was thinking given, boateng, jo, wright-phillips. plus the 1st teamers that get forced out with the changing of the guards. but if i can only choose from mancini's buys then yeah, so far theyre all pretty solid. you cant just blame frivilous spending on previous managers tho. the board/owner are the ones who tell the next guy he can re-build the whole team if he wants to. what if mancini doesnt last for some reason? and even if you forget about the cash spent, four managers in 10 years is alot of re-shaping.
as for balotelli...good luck with him. personally, i think when he leavea city, no-one will miss him.

Given was a good buy, he was excellent in 09-10 but Hart won the golden gloves last year - that was a tough call. Boateng was mostly injured, played 6 games at the most and then was gone - we made $$ on him by the way...Jo was someone I shoulda added with Milner - he's been poor no doubt! SWP has been an interesting case - was awesome back in the day, sat on the bench for Chelsea and hasn't been the same player since...he had a great preseason with some cracking goals - here's hoping he features...
If Balo leaves at the end of the year u may well be right!!! That tends to be the way - u cheer for a guy and hope he does well but if he is average again we probably won't miss him! Do remember he was good in the Cup semi vs United and MOM in the final. Kid can play...just whether it's every week....he's a headcase no doubt..

I really hope Mancini stays for years...completely agree about new managers upstting the status quo. I guess the owners wanted to give Hughes a fair shake, then when the ridiculous 3-3 draws at home to Hull that became the norm under him grew too much they gave him the arse...
Anyway - as u said - can't wait to get started. City v Swansea is 7 am on Tues - great time for me to see most of it before work!!!

yeah, not saying wright phillips or given were no good. just that theyve been sort of brushed aside for newer/better talent. given is one of the top 3 keepers in the epl. wright phillips is brilliant, but he needs solid game time. i heard bolton put an offer in for him.
one guy i think should be starting more is adam johnson. great player. how he hasnt forced his way into the starting line up is beyond me. what more does he need to do?!
valdes must feel a little foolish. many hours later and still no cesc...wonder where he got his info from? altho the way wenger spoke in his last interview it seems at least one of them might be going...

BLACKBURN V WOLVES
These sides met on the final day of last season with both still unsure of their Barclays Premier League status.

Rovers won 3-2 at Molineux but the result was enough to keep both sides up.

Now they meet again with both keen to ensure they do not suffer another survival struggle.

Blackburn won this fixture 3-0 last season and have not lost to Wolves in eight meetings since April 2000.

FULHAM V ASTON VILLA
Both sides are under new management although Martin Jol has already enjoyed six competitive matches with Fulham in the Europa League.

Alex McLeish will need to get off to a good start with Villa after moving from local rivals Birmingham City.

Both meetings last season finished all-square with Villa doing the double over their rivals in 2009/10.

LIVERPOOL V SUNDERLAND
Liverpool have spent big over the summer in a bid to maintain the momentum under Kenny Dalglish.

One of their biggest signings was Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson who could make his Reds debut against his old club.

Steve Bruce has used the money to bring in 10 new players and will hope to at least equal last season's 2-2 draw at Anfield.

QPR V BOLTON
Queens Park Rangers begin life back in the Barclays Premier League aiming to maintain the momentum which saw them run away with the Championship last season.

Bolton finished the campaign with five successive defeats and will need to arrest that slide. Their hopes have not been helped by pre-season broken legs for Lee Chung-yong and Tyrone Mears.

Bolton have won four of the last five meetings between the sides since November 1998.

WIGAN V NORWICH
Newly-promoted Norwich play their first Barclays Premier League fixture since 2005 against a Wigan side which survived only on the final day of last season.

These teams have only met five times in total and never in the Premier League. The Latics won 1-0 in the FA Cup in January 1987 but the Canaries won both legs of the League Cup tie in 1998.

They met in Division 1 in 2003/04 with Wigan drawing 1-1 at home and losing 2-0 away.

NEWCASTLE V ARSENAL
Last season's corresponding fixture produced a pulsating 4-4 draw as Newcastle remarkably recovered from four down to snatch a point through Cheick Tiote's late leveller.

The Magpies won 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium but the Gunners enjoyed a 4-0 success at St James' Park in the Carling Cup.

Both clubs have endured a difficult summer of transfer speculation and will be glad when the big kick-off arrives.

liverpool looked alrite. kinda lost it in th 2nd half tho. adam played very well. awesome goal from larsson.
arsenal were sloppy. definately missed the extra class of nasri and cesc. gervinho's final deliveries were dreadful. definately see the potential tho. how barton didnt get sent off with gervinho is unbelievable...

Look like a long season for QPR.

Bad loss to have on the first day.

I think it may be time for him to go and look for a fresh start. Its obvious Arsenal are not going to give him the money he needs to have a deep enough squad to win the title

I feel sorry for him to be honest. He has been a great manager but the board haven't backed him on the financial stuff..

Agreed, they play great football, lack a bit of spine, that's about it. And he hasn't got his just rewards...they'll go backwards quickly if Nasri goes too.

Was also referring to Gervinho - v poor debut by all accounts snd then he gets a red - 3 game ban straight off the bat. Wenger will be pissed - 37 games to go...

arsene wouldnt spend the amount the other top clubs do even if he was allowed to tho.
so song's stamp on barton is bound to be reviewed id say, but unfortunately theres no way barton can recieve further punishment for his role in the gervinho red card. lucky boy...

Reviewing rules bite u on the a.ss sometimes aye..... they haven't got them right. It blows how a ref's decision has to stand... Smells of arrogance...ref's should be able to admit if they were wrong more...

don't know how many of you boys watched the Reds match last night, Phil Dowd was horrible. He was pulling out his yellow card everywhere!

yeah i watched the game. dowd is a clown. carraghers was spot on tho. more cards in the arsenal match. except they were deserved...
just watching the QPR destruction now. cahill goal was pretty sweet.

EDIT: just saw the post-match interview with alan pardew and hes defending barton. doesnt think he deserved a red card and was just helping gervinho to get on with the game. what a tosser. i mean it looks like it couldve been a penalty anyway. there was contact.

I think Dowd gave some out for abuse - a new crackdown perhaps.....I hope it happens, they get treated like **** and get no digital help. I remember hearing a story of a guy who got sent off in the first minute of a local english game. said 'F#$k off c#$t' to the ref who red carded him in minute one - player said - 'just wanted to see what i could get away with!!'

Chelsea with a bore draw

Referee was rubbish again. De Gea got 'tunnelled' 3 times and no fouls were called... they were targeting him..

I'm not surprised! I'd be putting my shootin boots on if I were playing United...

i think this has to be the most boring opening weekend in the premier league in the last few years. The bigger clubs all didnt fire a shot really.
