taarabt is quality...apparantly. never really proved himself at spurs, but from the little ive seen from him at QPR hes ready now.
QPR play nice football. hoping they can stay up...

i'm keen to see Taarbt play in Top-Flight.. had some real promise..

He's exciting alright - be intetesting to see if he can step up with the class of the EPL...Always liked QPR as a kid so hope they do well...

BBC Sport - Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas on the verge of Barcelona move

Looks like Fabregas to Barca is happening.....I hate this even though it weakens the Arse...feel sorry for them - reminds me of City and Tevez....
People talk about City and the fairplay rules...no one mentions Barca and their squad...Does their owner just dump it on the national debt or something??

barca are in debt, just like the rest of them, but the difference is they can spend/borrow because theyve proven they can make the money back in competition wins. pretty sure theyre owned by a bank aswell. plus city pay over the odds for the players they want and never seem to sell off the ones they dont need.
the BBC story doesnt really have any sources or even a reason on why they think its closer now than ever...? no word from barca or arsenal saying theyve reached an agreement. i smell more sh!t stirring...
torres couldnt even make it to the start of the season with a clean bill of health. he got concussion in the italy friendly...

Do Barca not pay over the odds for players? I think you're being a bit simplistic. Each team has their bad buys...but what about Kompany $6 mill?, Tevez $25 mill?? I don't think u can say we pay more than others.... look at the ridiculous cash splashed for so called 'promising' english players by 'Pool and ManU this off season.

I didn't know Barca were owned by a bank...what difference does that make to UEFA??

Robinho anyone???

youre right. the over the top amount paid for players is part of more clubs than just city, the only difference being city buy players they dont need to replace players that dont need replacing. they seem to buy players on a whim. just for the sake of having them. 17 for roque, 25 for ade, 14 for bellamy, none of which got a real run in the 1st team. they bought clichy when kolarov was doing fine. savic for a back-line that was one of the best in the league last season and had suitable replacements at the ready. balotelli wasnt worth whatever the hell they forked out for him either. i guess its not so much the amount they pay, but the fact that they buy the players in the first place.
dont get me wrong, id like to see city do well, but they need to slow down on buying and focus on strengthening what they already got.
barca dont need to worry about financial fairplay because they dont spend nearly as much as city PLUS theyre far more likely to break even with what they do spend because they win stuff on a regular basis. city will find it difficult to break even if they keep buying like they have been...

EDIT: barca being owned by a bank doesnt mean anything to UEFA, it was just in response to your query over how the owner deals with the vast amounts spent.

It's as simple as this.

People give City the name of big spenders because they spent an absolute s*** load of cash a couple of seasons back on transfers.

Teams like United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea spend their cash in small chunks but have the same buying power as City.. RECENTLY!

As for Barca, god knows how they do it? Bribes to UEFA?

i think the point is about the financial fairplay rule. city are the only ones (in england) in danger of breaching it, which means theyre spending more than their projected income can account for. chelsea were just lucky that the rule didnt come in when they were buying up big a few years back and now they can spend chelsea cash, not roman money. teams like united and arsenal dont need to worry 'cause they only really spend money theyve generated themselves (not from a uber-rich outside source). same as barca.

EDIT: please note this is not an attack on city.

yeah i know it's about the financial rule.. was just giving my fair opinion on City's money :)

OFFICIAL: TOTTENHAM v EVERTON CANCELLED!

Reports suggest that Barca have agreed a transfer fee for Fabregas for AU$50m while apparently Nasri has told team-mates that he is on the verge of signing with City..

Won't believe it until it's official though!

official: spurs game is the only one that will be cancelled. all other 9 matches to go ahead as planned.
looks like enrique to liverpool is almost done aswell. pending contract talks and medical.
and the la liga will start 2 weeks late due to a players strike...

I'll give u Roque was a terrible buy,. As a city fan no one wanted him. He was Hughes pet from Blackburn. Ade for $25 when we needed a good striker was a decent enough deal. Bellers had a great year but fell out with Mancini, as did Ade, - Mancini obviously wanted a certain type of player. I agree it's been wasteful at times...but we're trying to get to the top quickly....

Since then they've bought Dzecko and Balotelli in the $20 mill plus bracket - don't write them off yet, they've had half a season each and are both v young. Balo was 21 today...Kolarov is NOT doing ok, he's too slow for the likes of United's wingers. He doubles round nicely but can't cross to save himself - he had 1 goal and 1 assist last season as an overlapping fullback. Clichy is there as he has more pace.

City HAVE slowed down their buying, only bought a cheapo goalie, Aguero to cover the Tevez leaving possibility Clichy, and possibly Nasri. The plan is to only buy about 2 players next year and then watch them blossom...

I know yr not a hater and currently you're right but if u were running the place - what would u have done differently? Managers like to shape their team their own way. Hughes had his guys and when Mancini came in a lot of the expensive buys from Hughes were dismissed, put out on loan etc...it's been messy at times but u have to remember Chelsea were a good team before Roman's $$ came in. City were pretty average and needed a much bigger makeover...

Robbie Keane to LA - I like this move - he's had no playing time the last few years...

/\/\ you dont rate kolarov? hes slow yes, but hes a better defensive player in my opinion. and clichy cant cross either.
my list was just a couple of examples. the amount of players to have gone through city in the last few years without making a mark is is pretty high.
youre right tho, alot of it has to do with different management at the helm. but that could be considered part of the problem aswell. hopefully mancini will stick around for a while. hughes was just never right for the job...
dzecko im still waiting on. i have faith in him. he looks sharp. balotelli is a lost cause. he hasnt shown anything worth 20mill. always in trouble. always complaining. lazy on the pitch. no respect for his manager, club or team-mates. how many times have i watched him storm straight into the dressing room after being subbed. he got more yellow cards than goals last season. plus he talks too much sh!t.
i guess the problem for city in regards to fifa's FFPR is they may have slowed down in the amount of players they buy (you forgot savic by the way), but theyre still spending big bucks.

I think Balotelli will be back in Italy with a second tear team before long. You just can have a Muppet like him in your dressing room.

Pumped for the start of the season. Feeling good about my fantasy team.

Is Clichy that bad?? Kolarov isn't held in high regard by City fans...I watched just about every game they played last year...he was very average...I was thinking Clichy must be better!! As for players coming thru not making their mark?? Fire away...Milner is one, and a few of Hughes buys after Mancini arried...I'd argue virtually all others have contributed to some degree...
I can understand why people think Balotelli is a lost cause. I guess it's the City way to see the positives. He could be anything if he had the application. We're just hoping it comes.... yes forgot Savic...another youngster...down the defensive pecking order...
Bottom line is they wouldn't be buying these players blindly and then let City be kicked out of the CL or whatever and then go 'oops!!' From what I've read they're constantly in contact with the UEFA fairplay committee to make sure they'll be ok...
The people running the club aren't idiots...

true. they got something going with the new stadium rights thats gonna save them. im not sure how it works exactly. they will have to ditch some fringe players tho.
clichy is good. but he cant cross. and kolarov is a stronger tackler/header.
i was thinking given, boateng, jo, wright-phillips. plus the 1st teamers that get forced out with the changing of the guards. but if i can only choose from mancini's buys then yeah, so far theyre all pretty solid. you cant just blame frivilous spending on previous managers tho. the board/owner are the ones who tell the next guy he can re-build the whole team if he wants to. what if mancini doesnt last for some reason? and even if you forget about the cash spent, four managers in 10 years is alot of re-shaping.
as for balotelli...good luck with him. personally, i think when he leavea city, no-one will miss him.
anyway, its looking good for you at the minute and i hope you guys destroy swansea...
