rooney whinging about his ban. the big question is; will he still make the final squad. i think it shows how sad a state english football is in that they would have to bring him along knowing he wont play in the group stages.

English team is screwed under Capello anyway - he picks blokes out of position - How Richards doesn't make the team and they play Jones or someone out of position in his place is beyond me...
Just read England win 60% of games when Rooney is playing and 70% when he's not so he may not be picked anyway.

Congrats to SAF for his 25 years this weekend..... credit where credit's due - he's the benchmark for managers and I only hope Mancini stays half as long as SAF has been at United..... *claps*

Yeah congrats SAF, for the most part he has definitely spent his money wisely and turned it into success.
Hopefully he has a nice thick slice of pizza to celebrate

City with a lucky win today, were outplayed for large patches. Aguero and Richards had off days and Savic is no Kompany yet - needsome work in the weights room to keep strikers off his back for headers.
3 brilliant goals again though, Silva's was fantastic, Dzeko's was quality too....
United squeezing out wins without impressing and Newcastle keep winning too....

On 6 November 1986, relatively unknown manager Alex Ferguson replaced Ron Atkinson as Manchester United manager.

After 3 unsuccessful seasons as manager, fans called for the sacking of Ferguson, including one fan who famously (and ironically) said, "3 Years of Excuses, and it's still crap, Tara Fergie."

In 1990, Ferguson led United to the 1989/90 FA Cup, his first trophy as manager for the Red Devils. This was the first, but certainly not the last.

12 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 10 Community Shields, 2 UEFA Champions League trophies, 1 Winners Cup, 1 Super Cup, 1 Intercontinental cup and 1 FIFA Club World Cup later, consisting of 837 wins and 2,580 goals, Alex Ferguson has become Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United's best manager ever.

Yesterday the North Stand at Old Trafford was renamed the 'Sir Alex Ferguson Stand', and a statue will be unveiled soon as a tribute to Ferguson.

Sir Alex Ferguson, the best manager ever, a United great and one of the best men in football today.

Lead United to Number 20.

Ahhhh you're back Warney....u wanna discuss the EPL and how things are going? U usually run this thread and since the 6-1 you've disappeared.....

Are u a fair weather fan? Only writes when the goings good?? I seem to recall u writing down all the goal scorers at the start of the season when United were going well....
Not the rest of us. We've been here - I reckon there were more Arsenal fans writing here after the 8-2 game than anyone - they were here...

Indeed... but wait...

Ferguson should be shot. Only thing i have to say.

Confused much?

Didn't i explain the situation to you originally?

And also not sure when New Zealand students do their exams but i am doing mine right now, hence why i have hardly been on my computer lately.

Yeah u did - something about playing a computer game? But you're visiting the site most days - out of curiosity I checked - , u had time to crap on Chelsea with that 5-3 joke as soon as that result came through...would be a shame for people to see u as a fairweather fan, cos you're not right?

Been missing your analysis mate....

;)

/\/\ i havent minded the lack of united propoganda being strewn about lately.

Thing is they're still a fantastic chance to win the League - City have no form actually winning it yet, especially with UCL pressure for the first time as well... it's still wiiiide open in my eyes despite City's terrific form...

We can all name plenty of teams that have given up leads in the EPL late in the season (usually to Man Utd) to lose the title.

Newcastle's 12 point meltdown is probably the best example. The season aint won in November. It will be interesting to see how the squad depth works for Man City. Surprised Chelsea have not been better this season, they do have a super talented squad.

yeah, that wasnt a comment on united's chance to win the title. personally, i still think theyre favorites. city have a real shot tho.

not many teams have won the league when theyve been on top at x-mas. chelsea may be the only ones...?
chelsea are too old.

Don't you mean the other way around? I think most teams in the EPL era have gone on to win the league from being on top at Xmas. Not sure about Chelsea last season, but Arsenal missed out in I think it was 2007 after leading at Xmas.

Personally I think City are going to be hard to catch. Can't see much going wrong for them with that squad, although QPR did give them a good run the other night.

yeah, sorry. it is the other way round...lost the league leading at x-mas. so you could say the league is won by january...statistically.

Holy crap - a conversation broke out!
No doubt it's a long season. Good to see Arsenal playing well too. Spurs also winning a few on the trot - will make for an exciting season. Liverpool look to be struggling - Agger having a crack at his teammates the other day... Andy Carroll's miss was a doosie...

Arsenal doing much better. Team seems to have gelled a bit now, was a fair few signings Wenger made at the end of the window. Hopefully have a couple of good cup runs as the Premiership is surely out of reach for the Gunners. Looking forward to next round of Carling Cup at the end of the month. Hopefully City play their reserves and Na$ri gets a run at the Emirates.
