2011/12 Australian Summer Of Cricket (*SPOILERS*)

I Don't think Warner will be a bad test opener.

Australia well on top 5/345. Lead of 50 Runs.

Michael Clarke 139 Not Out
Brad Haddin 47 Not Out

Well Thats the End of Clarke for 139 only the 1st Over after Tea.

Not a bad result for a bunch of useless hacks, or as Malcom Conn described us, "the worst Australian team in 25 years"

Wait and see the suck-up job in tomorrow's papers, we really do need more former players turned-reporters to cover cricket like Brad's father used to, the blokes who haven't played really do produce a whole lot of nonsense in their articles.

Here's a Question. With Watson going to Open the Batting.

Who Should Be his Opening Partner?
David Warner
Phillip Hughes
Or Someone Else if so who?

Hughes should go back and learn his craft in Sheffield Shield, or even Club cricket. Hayden did it. Hughes might bounce back. But dear oh dear. Horrible in the 2nd dig. Just horrible. Got a chance then did the exact same thing. Howls of laughter where we were.

The squad for Tassie was supposed to be announced today, regardless if still playing or not, but they're holding it over. I think P Hughes will be dropped. And so he should.

I thought Australia played well. Kudos to Clarke for his ton, Punter and Haddin's runs (though I still think these are their last 6 tests) and the bowlers did what they had to, though at times, seemed very wayward. Some decent pies bowled up. But Siddle and Starc certainly can put a GREAT ball down...but they need to do it 4 /6 balls each over. But geez they bowled some jaffas; Siddle sooooo unlucky again. Lyon is really impressing. I'll give Warner benefit of doubt for his 1st innings as that was a CORKER of a delivery. Looked determined in 2nd dig, pity he didn't have a 100-150 runs to chase down. Kawaja was looking very sharp til he got run out, d'oh.

Overall, sure some dropped catches, 1st test nerves but Aussie back bone, professionalism and grit came through. Pup's captaincy is Mark Taylor-esque (although he'll rue the dropped catch!).

In a losing side, Vettori is a champ and poor Chris Martin. Chance for a single, turned back and then out for 0. Pattinson ripping apart NZ at 5/7 this morning, you don't really bounce back from that in the innings. Hope they get it together for Tassie.

So after a weekend wedding in the Hunter Valley...with plenty of wine, cheese, chocolate and cricket...good job Australia. Some redemption from people under pressure, some brightness for the future and some entertaining cricket.

If Im not Mistaken the 2nd Test squad is: Michael Clarke (captain), David Warner, Phillip Hughes, Usman Khawaja, Ricky Ponting, Michael Hussey, Brad Haddin, Peter Siddle,Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc, James Pattinson and Dan Christian (Backup).

In: Dan Christian Out: Ben Cutting
