the corinthians offer only fell through because they wanted to pay in 2 installments. the total amount was agreed upon.
and yes. they shouldve let him go on the cheap (or cheaper than top dollar). sometimes thats what happens when players and clubs have differences. you cut your losses. now they got to pay him his wage and not get the benefit of his mad skills. they didnt do everything they could to keep him happy, because hes still there. he wanted out months (or is it years now?) ago...
im not saying its cities fault he wont play, but they mustve realised there was more problems ahead with him. he was never going to 'settle' again and they shouldve sold him. and its not like hes the only one theyve had problems unloading. and its not like they need the cash. or the extra striker...
i agree that hes worth more than carroll and torres. probably combined. but you cant judge a players value by what he was bought for. theres too much money behind too many clubs now, and over-evaluating is becoming the norm. like you said, carroll @ $35mill is ridiculous to think about when you consider thats almost $10mill more than nasri, and only $3mill less than aguero. makes no sense.
bartons not refreshing, hes just an obnoxious and hypocritical thug. thinks hes clever with his orwelle and nietzsche quotes, meanwhile hes stabbing lit cigars in people eyes.
cant fault his abilities, just wish he'd shut-up and play.
Yeah well I don't think you're right about Corinthians but I'm not going on and on about it...their money relied on all sorts of tv deals etc occurring - it was like buying something with money u haven't got yet....
Are u on twitter? Do u follow Barton? Compared to most celebrities, who write jack that's interesting, he's good - very supportive of the Hillsborough inquiry - in fact on twitter he's basically helped raise a 100,000 signature governmental disclosure of private documents that helped blame Liverpool fans for a police cockup...now doubt he's a twit, but he's refreshing on twitter. And he does play - not like he doesn't perform on the pitch - not completely my cup of tea but he's a good player...don't u think it'd be a bit boring if they were all drones??
As for Tevez - I'll agree to disagree....
not on twitter. and he can support hillsborough all he wants, but first he should stop assaulting people both physically and verbally. like hes a nice guy because he thinks hillsborough was a bad scene? im sure he wouldve been pushing harder than anyone if he was there...
personally, i dont really care what any of them have to say on twitter (or anywhere really). im more interested in how they play, but barton comes out with such ridiculous sh!t, i feel he deserves to be singled out. do you actually agree with any of these 'refreshing' comments of his?
im a little bias because im a pacifist and hes pretty much the exact opposite. a drunk goon who likes to hurt people. hes lucky hes not sharing a cell with his brother...tho being on parole hes as close as he can get without actually being there.
yeah, i'll agree to disagree about tevez. either way, it was a difficult/weird situtaion, and i cant fault city in how theyve handled this latest incident. but now dzeko has been benched aswell for his little spat. stretching his striker spots. i think mancini has the right idea tho. show them whos boss.
i think we're both right about the corinthians deal (you more so). they wanted installments so they could use the upcoming boost from TV distribution funds. but its not like they arent going to get that money?
two big derbies this weekend. merseyside and spurs/gunners. should be interesting.
honestly been a TOON fan im pretty happy hes gone though i didnt used to mind him on the field but off field is a different story.....but if you look at cabaye, tiote gutierrez, obertan and with ben arfa just back we dont need him thats a solid middle of the park and its showing
Firstly - that bolded comment is out of line. 96 people got crushed to death - no one was pushing anyone. Most of their arms were pinned to such a degree they couldn't breathe and hence suffocated. U should read some of the stuff survivors in the crowd were saying. People going blue, eyes bulging - it's some of the most harrowing stuff you'll ever read....
Secondly - Barton writes a lot on twitter, he's confrontational at times but mostly he gives as much as he gets - and u can imagine how much he gets - I give it too him too! Eg after that pathetic dive vs Arsenal that got Gervinho sent off - that was a joke and he copped it!!
3rdly - Barton has done things I have absolutely no time for. The street assault, the cigarette thing - they were disgusting and his copybook is always blotted in my eyes. I wouldn't have him back at City for anything. All I said originally was he was refreshing on twitter as he'll interact and is proactive promoting charities and stuff. Sure he has a crack at people on twitter but he's not the devil incarnate
As for the EPL, yep - I'll take 2 draws in those games. City away at Blackburn, United home to Norwich, Chelsea at Bolton going with form should be wins...All 4 derby teams really need to win so should be open games...
West Ham make move to loan Carlos Tevez - ESPN Soccernet
Tevez being touted to West Ham. Soccernet usually dont report anything that not pretty spot on these days.
Also i cant believe im saying this but I AGREE WITH WITH LJANDKG. I find Barton highly entertaining on twitter. It has shown a side i did not think could exist.

City have now scored 4,3,5,3,2,2 and 4 this season
united lucky to get all 3 points. norwich definately had their opportunites. nice to see united losing a bit of steam...
wouldn't say that we've lost steam.. Extremely complacent i reckon.
