Man City having a laugh at themselves - straight off the official site....
The old Manchester City rumour-mill keeps grinding away and another week of speculation has seen names old and new bandied around with some sort of abandon.
So, here we go with our latest countdown, and if you feel like slapping on that music that Alan Freeman used to play on “Pick of the Popsâ€, go ahead, make my day...
A further 14 mentions for Alexis Sanchez see him race away at the head of the pack with a grand total of 60 so far, although opinion is split over whether we are stepping up our pursuit, dropping our interest or whether the Chilean wants to go elsewhere.
Luka Modric was only linked twice and he trails Sanchez some distance on 24, with Wesley Schneider getting the same number. Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas only rated two and one mentions respectively, but this week there’s more interest in a host of new names to conjure with.
Barca’s Jeffren Suarez cropped up in a “if Sanchez does not sign†context; our defence would be bolstered by the arrivals of Stefan Savic and Aly Cissokho, and as for midfield Marko Marin, Alessio Cerci and Eden Hazard are said to be on our radar.
Caen forward M'Baye Niang is another name making its first appearance and what’s that coming over the hill, is it a monster, is it a monster? It’s Porto’s Hulk, who has been touted as another alternative to Sanchez.
And we can add a goalkeeper to our supposed list of targets - Argentinean Sergio Romero of Dutch side AZ.
Don't forget that the first place you will read official confirmation of any incomings or outgoings is right here on the official Manchester City web site - but you knew that already!
