/\/\ depends what you call home-grown. most of those players played for a different youth teams before they were signed by united.
and personally, i was sticking up for united (pretty rare) in saying that they deserved to spend big on players, unlike chelski and city...
we were saying they havent produced an OUTSTANDING player in a while. i wouldnt consider any of the recent players on that list 'outstanding'.
last time you accused me of saying fergie makes dumb buys, which i never said. maybe you should read what we write instead of automatically sticking up for united. theyre not perfect...

Well said, and it's worth noting that I agreed with your Chelsea/City comment.
Dude just got his panties in a bunch....

Sorry Sgt Pepper but in no was was my comment regarding home grown players directed at you. It was directed at the below comment.

However you did say "fergie is a boob in the transfer market" (post 82) - sorry if i misinterpreted that.

Fair comment but it gets a bit old and contradictory when United fans keep crapping on about their amazing development/academy when they've bought as much success as the next team. That's what gets my goat at times. Sure they had a golden era with Beckham, Scoles, Rat Neville etc but they haven't produced a player of great note outa there own academy in a while and they buy their players just like everyone else

You can hardly sit there are have a go at Utd's development when no team in England has produced a home grown player of any serious world class talent in donkeys years. Everybody knows the transfer policies of team like Chelsea and Man City (amongst others) has had a direct impact on the opportunities of English players. Robinho anyone???

yeah i did call fergie a boob, but that was more about his lack of vision. he buys players that are already proven on the worlds stage. didnt mean he buys crap players. just that hes uninspired. all of which was outlined in my original post.
the one other thing i think goes against city and chelsea is that they over-payed for a lot of players just to get them. fergie at least payed sums that were reasonable, even if they were record transfers...
in quick response to english players not being given opportunities, i think its a sign that english players (on average) dont perform aswell. its not like there are no english players being given a shot? the ones good enough to compete against europeans still make the squads.
the hammers have the best youth academy in the country, but as you said, its been at least 15 years since a star came out. watch out for freddie sears tho...
also, i was under the impression it was 'donkey's ears'?

So what? Stop being so damn precious - Do u want me to **** on about how amazing United are for a while then you'll go away and finish yourself off?

This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Some rag fans can't stand any criticism. They think they've won the league because of their awesome academy and never think they've bought success. They just keep crapping on about City and Chelsea buying it but not themselves. If the rag academy is so amazing, why do they have to buy players??

I WASN'T having a go at the United academy, I was having a go at UNITED FANS who think their academy has led them to all their success, when they've bought all the stars they need to win lately just like everyone else.
However you're more than welcome to take that as a personal attack on United's academy and go off the handle. U seriously have to be the worst person I've come across at OCT to debate with and there's daylight second - EVERYTHING'S A CONSPIRACY!!

adam to merseyside almost done.
izzaguire to united? are they trying to change their back line?!
moutinho to follow falcao to follow AVB?
apparantly downing has put in a transfer request to try and make this liverpool move happen. 'pool finally getting some depth. theyre also in talks with diego (wolfsburg).
the guardian reckons wenger has said that cesc can go IF nasri stays. nasri has started negotiations over his new contract.
AC milan president says he wants to sign FIVE chelsea players: drogba, kalou, essien, anelka & alex.
johnny evans to wolves?
and maybe the funniest thing ive seen in quite a while. one mr peter crouch:

does he say 'rises like a salmon'?!

Any rumours/talk anyone would like to discuss.

And stop the United hating :) I'm not hating City, Arsenal or West Ham :)

couple of posts above yours i mentioned quite a few rumours.
as for the manutd hating, fair enough. altho i do actually believe the things i write, so i think the same can be said for the unconditional manutd love being given...

EDIT: does anyone think modric is still leaving?

unconditional love? haha. yeah right.

Nasri wants 110k per week, Arsenal can afford 90k, Sir Alex reportedly offering him 130k a week.. Interesting!

as if the gunners couldnt afford the extra 20k?! wenger better pay up, 'cause he'll kick himself if united get a hold of him. i really would hate to see him leave. would be a big set-back for wengers 'new' squad. hes the best player arsenal have, and that includes a fully fit cesc...

EDIT: city back as front runners for getting sanchez.

Cesc is still a much better player than Nasri when fit. For the sake of 20k I'm sure Nasri is going to re-sign. And there is no way Wenger will do business with another English rival. Arsenal don't need the money, and would rather send him to Italy or Spain if it comes to that.

i think thats debatable. nasri is pure class. has been since he was 15. they play different roles, so its hard to say i guess. their games played:goals scored ratio is just about the same, and nasri gets more assists. hes also more exciting to watch. i think anyway.
i agree that wenger wouldnt sell him to another top english club, but hes only got one year left on his contract, and then its out of arsenes hands. i hope youre right, and he re-signs.

Heard that City are back in front of the Sanchez signing stakes. Funnily enough they need to sell some players soon!!!!

Good Luck to the young Joeys this morning.. they play Denmark in about 30 minutes.. Some real decent footballers there!

Nothing interesting on the rumour mill

No doubting Nasri's class, but his form fell away over the last third of the season. He also gets his fair share of assists, but Fabregas has led the EPL in assists the last couple of seasons, and has more assists than anyone in the top 5 leagues in Europe over the last 5 seasons:worthy:
All I know is Arsenal are much better with both of them in the team

arsene finally trying to spend some cash: Arsenal launch bid for Juan Mata - ESPN Soccernet

funny. we been talking about clubs spending big, and this will be a record transfer for arsenal. thats why i think arsene is the best manager about. he may not win as many trophies like the rest, but hes always there near the end, and he does it on a shoe-string. considering the players that have gone through highbury/emirates, i think he see's potential where others dont. theyre also one of the few clubs that consistantly cut back the debt they owe. e.g. barca president just announced a cut-back on office supplies of all things to try and get the extra money to pay for cesc. they currently owe 400mill.
the fact that arsene HAS won the league, made champs league finals, shows you dont need to spend big $$$...*cough*chelskicityunited *cough*

Its still a big debt incurred from buying players that is now bitting them in the butt.

I think it just more shows that from a cashflow perspective you want to have your team in the most popular league in the world.

are you talking about barca or arsenal?
and the top teams in the most popular league in the world are in heavy debt. that was my point...
