people who get stung don;t have to be "retarded",There a lot of people that are not aware of this sort of thing.

there are a lot of computer illiterate people out there that can't be classed as retarded, it's OK for the younger generation to be Tech savvy but what about us older people who have done all the hard work so the next generation has it 'soooo' easy!.

Well said......

What some of them are also doing is getting you to give them access to your PC whilst only charging you $9.99 to fix the problem. Sounds cheap doesn't it?

They get your personal details, CC details and you get a headache.

I have had about 10 of these calls recently and I either string them along or simply tell them i dont own a computer.

The best one I have got them with so far is that I tell them my number is on the do not call register and if they were so kind to give me their company details I will have no hesitation in reporting them to the government where the maximum fine is $250,000.

After that they dont care what my computer is sending.

Cheers
Matt

After I put my number on that register its been pretty much bliss. :v:

Same, we went from 2-3 calls a week to 2 calls in 2-3 months or so. We string em along for as long as we can

The best line is to ask them for there number so u can call them back - they hang up all the time or better yet say hold on a minute and just leave them hanging LOL.

My family fell for this late last year. They did give a sydney number. Were of Indian accent, got access i believe by dropping spyware into computer as knew personal information and computer stats/settings etc. Wife took 1st call and was convinced, did the log in. I came home to see mouse remotely activated, asked what was going on and pulled connection. Two days on they call again, i answer,...the person wants me to reconnect...the pitch is pro and polished(microsoft etc,, Sydney number which i call to confirm etc. I blast and hang up. That night, computer hangs at start up and after sfforts to salvage i have had to buy new computer, change link info and serial numbers and personal info.... This scam is very, very real. The cost of computer is small compared to the rest of the hassles.
If your computer is used by family group etc tell them...don't assume everyone knows...don't tell personal info to strangers....and keep your anti spam / virus up to date...steven

for site users: my system is safe but do rember to update your security its for all our safeguard.
