ONE HD to relaunch with entertainment in May

When Packer took over again at Ten, he signalled that he was going to can OneHD.

The reason - he owns foxtel, so OneHD is taking away money from Foxtel. He wants people to pay for the privledge of watching sport.

Packer is no longer a board member and hasn't been for a month or so. He was never a CEO or chairman etc and just sat on the board. However now he is simply a major shareholder. He has no real power over any decisions made at the top. Ten have been run poorly for the last 4-5 years and profits etc have tumbled. They are simply going through a cost cutting mode to stem the tide and make their profits look good again.
Has got nothing to do with Packer and his stake in Foxtel etc.
James Warburton is actual CEO now and was ex CEO of channel seven. He replaces Lachlan Mudoch who was interim CEO

Can't be all that bad. I'm sick of turning over to OneHD and seeing friggin Netball! Doesn't interest me in the slightest. At least now there might be something decent to watch on there more often.

Like it or not I would rather see sport of any kind on what's supposed to be a sports channel rather than The Manchurian Candidate. I wasn't sure I was on One when I saw that the other night.

Wow, only 126K people have signed the "keep sport free" partition. I guess that campaign isn't going so well. Is this just a case of people not giving enough of a ****? Sport in the background while they play Facebook and search the Interwebs?

I still think there's not enough male pattern baldness to support the ad's either. Come on guys, support free to air sport by heading to Advance Hair...yeah yeah.

Here's a bit more of an update from TV Tonight ......not that it says much!!

Where do ONE changes leave panel shows?
By David Knox on April 9, 2011

This week ONE confirmed that AFL, Formula 1 and MotoGP would remain on the channel when it rebrands to a male-skewed channel with entertainment.

But where does that leave other sports such as basketball, golf, swimming and more? And what of Sports Tonight and weeknight panel shows such as The Game Plan: NRL and One Week at a Time?

A TEN spokesperson told TV Tonight, “It’s too early to discuss any particular sports rights but over the coming weeks we’ll be providing individual sports rights holders with more certainty around our plans for the ongoing role of sport across our channels.

“Panel-based programs will continue to play a role in ONE’s line-up.”

Meanwhile some readers have been asking about whether The Bolt Report on TEN will impact on the long-running Video Hits.

“Video Hits remains an important feature of both TEN’s Saturday and Sunday schedule and we’ll reveal exact timeslot details over the next few weeks,” said the spokesperson.

I dont have an issue with the re-launch. The issue I have is they bring dumb games that no one is interested in. Its not like they dont have a pick of great games, its they always give you ones that mean NOTHING to most fans. I have no problem perving on the netball women playing, but that lasts about 30 seconds and then I am switching stations. However, if there was a lakers-celtics game on, I would be more inclined to actually watch the full game. BUT no, they will put a bucks-dallas game on that is airing at the same time. WHO CARES. The problem is you had someone who was interested in bringing sports to HD, but had no idea what was a good game and what people wanted to see.

They did the same thing with gridiron and baseball, NBL is different as its Aussie, so I am sure there are enough Aussies around the country that would be interested in it just a bit. I would have added Wrestling to the channel and some good Ice Hockey, again, good games, ones that mean something. I would find a way to have atleast 1 or 2 taped replays of super 15 Rugby and way less English Soccer, which bores the wind out of me.

Hopefully, they can get their act together and at least mix it up better with sports and movies. Otherwise, free sports as we know it is no longer going to be on the airwaves. I wont support foxtel as they are the anti christ. However, I still and always will stream my favorite teams.

I think its time to set up a streaming post for everyone to share there streams for sports. Would help us all in knowing what software to have and where to find the links.

I will start it up, look for it if you wish

The bucks games were shown because Andrew Bogut actually paid for the rights for it to be shown on Aussie TV im pretty sure. So while it's a Bucks game, the alternative is Bocce or more Netball. They wouldnt be showing anything NBA if it wasn't for Bogut.

Bogut paid?

Wow, what a champion. And also shows what it takes to get some bball on AUS TV.......

Just a bit of an update on the changes to OneHD.....looks like it impacts more on the peak viewing times.....we can still expect to see NBA live during the day I would say....not sure about the replays though!

Hopefully we can keep some NBA and NFL in the day-time then!!

I hope so, I'm a stay at home Dad and day time TV sucks, when I can get reception I watch NBA. I don't really wanna have to pay for Foxtel which is expensive for the few channels I would actually watch.

yeh can't wait for Extreme Fishing With Robson Green. I don't see how extreme it could be. Fine .. If Robson Green is standing on the edge of a speed boat, holding a fishing rope thats on fire and a hot as babe wrapped around his leg then sure .. I might just watch it but I'm 82% sure thats not on the show. And Moto GP. Don't get me started on that crap. Who watches it? Does anybody watch it ... Can the real Moto GP fan please stand up. Far Out. And Long Way Round. Alright, the show is good, but get rid of Ewan McGregger or McGreggor ... however you spell his name! Everytime I see him on something besides Star Wars it makes me believe that Obi Wan Kenobi is Fiction ... Obi is my role model. He taught Darth Vader the ways of the force ... that's a pretty good effort if you ask me. To summarise .. I don't give a s**t about the Bolt Report with that absolute ***** Andrew Bolt. O and 1 more thing about Moto GP .. even porn would be a better option over that show. I am so angry that they are doing this to channel 1, one of the best channels on free tv. I rest my case.
