The packs of 3 with the 1 bat and stand come with 1 of the 12 Aust/Eng from the blister packs OR 1 of the 4 other Australian Test players not in the blister packs (Siddle, North, Hauritz, Hilfenhaus).
I bought one box, but should have kept the pack details BUT each box contains - I think - 4 of the same 6 packets. Each packet ALWAYS contains the same 3 cards.
For example (I have two packs here):
Katich TEST & Harris & Christian (Katich bat)
Watson TEST & Tait & Warner (Watson bat)
I went to a 2nd Nextra newsagents and got a 2nd box and they had exactly the same as the 1st Box.
I got 9 packs from a 3rd newsagent and got 4, 3 and 2 of the same packs.
Today I got 5 packs and got 2, 2 & 1.
For values sake, you're probably better off going for the newsagent packs. I didn't realise at the time, but all the blister packs will have the cards in the 3in1 packets.
I have to say also, I like the cards. The thicker stock and rounded corners remind me of Scanlens a bit.
Still...only gripe...if you buy a box, should get the set.
The GOLD cards are numbered 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 4 and 4 of 4. They are the Ponting, Clarke and Pietersen and Strauss ODI cards (same as the 32 card set) but the back with all the stats is gold foil. Since it's aimed at kids, it's cool. For these, you get 1 Test Player and 2 of the GOLD cards in 1 pack. In the one box, I got 2 packs (all 4 GOLD cards). I got them again in the 2nd box. But couldn't tell you if they are 2 packs per box containing the 4 GOLD cards as I didn't score any in the 3rd or 4th visits to the newsagents (but they could be in the packs I didn't buy).

PS - I have managed to get all 16 Test Players, 4 GOLD Cards and 22 of 32 ODI cards.
There is no checklist. There are only 16 signed bats.
I will try and get some pics on here (I am not technically savvy).
