Hi all.

I have just recently decided to get into footy cards and looking to give Select a go (Collected TeamCoach as a kid).

I see that there are many different premium releases but just wanting to start with the base collection for the moment.

In terms of actually buying the product would it be worth my time to buy a few boxes now and open over time or just buy a few loose packs each week?

Cheers

Depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. You mention premium releases, but you’re not going to be able to purchase loose packs of these, only boxes. And they are hard to get, unless you’re willing to pay nearly double the RRP on eBay for left over sealed stuff. Footy Stars is your best chance and is more of a “base” release as you call it. Shops probably still have stock, I know my local supermarket does. You could maybe buy boxes and bust a few packs here and there, but if that’s how you want to do it then best you just buy a handful of packs as you feel the need. But keep in mind at some point they won’t be available anymore and you’ll have to wait until March until you can buy the next release.

Best practice would be to wait patiently for the next release. While there are plenty of boxes of Footy Stars retail around it's basically already a long forgotten set, and you'll assuredly be stuck with almost every card you open. One box of Footy Stars may be worthwhile as you'll be guaranteed a full set of common cards and an assortment of various inserts including some 'box hits'. I'd give loose packs a wide berth.

Assuming the next set is series two it's a great product to get stuck into as a new collector. Personally I wasn't truly hooked until I opened my first boxes of 2018 Legacy.

Thanks for the replies. I'll start off light with footy stars and will keep my eyes on the future series releases.
