Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

I have a feeling this will be the hardest season yet. There are some seriously good players here.

Vivo, Nenjabin, Digeze, Verse, Giddles, Swish etc all prove to be really tough competition!

I have to win my division to have a shot of avoiding Verse, Vivo and Swish until the ECF.

lol, wow...when did Miller become so lethal from 3? Why hasn't he attracted any attention in s1 or s2?

Whoever has had him must not be a very shooting-orientated type of guy.

It's his rating though. 90 on 3's! That's fair ridiculous!

By the way with OCT S2 into the playoffs, Ben or Michael want to help me with getting the candidates for OCT S2 awards and the voting done?

OCT S3 - Early candidate for Defensive Player of the Year = Josh Smith (9.2 RPG 8th overall, 3.2 SPG 2nd overall, 4.5 BPG 1st overall)

BEAST!

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

HOLY MOLY!

Verse just beat Vivo, not that that's a big deal - but Mike Miller with 58 points!

And I'm going to assume on a hell load of 3's! The site isn't letting me see the Box Scores of Team Stats yet but on the home page it has the record which is now 17!

With 20 for the game from the team, meaning that's 60 points in the game just off triple's.

Farout Nick.. You are SUCH A 3 CHEESER ;)
 Yeah i didn't feel that great about all the points he put on. Nicko had me with his crazy defense and literally the only 2 guys i can hit a shot with are Melo and Miller, i tried to mix it up a bit but Miller was open alot which lead me to using him more.
Im fine with a reset if Nick wants it.

Huge comeback though i was down about 20 in the 3rd. His fast breaks are out of control too i think it was something like 38-3 in fast break points haha

Also mkd_kid has asked what the PIP rule is for this league. I think we should clarify this statistically.

Michael - I know in OCT S2 you said anything over 80% would be automatically re-set but I think we need to be more specific.

This what I think:
- Firstly, 80% is too high I think it should be 75% at the highest, even 70% is better
- From that %, fast-break points should be deducted from total PIP when calculating the % (because those are give-me points and not exploits)
- From the total points scored, free throws should be deducted when PIP is calculated (as they can pad total points when the guy is still attacking but getting fouled)

Thoughts guys?

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

70% PIP I reckon it should be.

Let me know what you need done for the awards Jimbo :)

---------- Post added 13-07-2010 at 06:00 PM ----------

Oh, and I'd be happy to have FB points deducted from the PIP total since my fast break points come from triples ;) But seriously, either we have a 70% rule with PIP counted in that tally, or we have it at 60% or even 50% without FB points. You don't have to finish the break in the paint, and I actually finish outside the paint more than inside on the break!

---------- Post added 13-07-2010 at 06:02 PM ----------

But yes FTs should be first deducted. But PIP should definitely include FB points.

Yeah I'm not too fussed I guess - I just assumed most people would get nearly all of their FB points in the paint, so for those who get out and streak it's not really like they are exploiting PIP in the half-court.

We'll have to hear Michael's take.

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Can anyone else view boxscores on the 2k site? All seems to be screwed up for me...

But man, Mike Miller 58 points???????? I think Nick found his new Durant! I could never get Miller's shot down pat myself...

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Yeah Nick I want a reset quick smart!!! That was mega cheesing! Nah just kidding bro, I dont think you can really call it cheesing if your hitting jumpshots can you? Its like saying come on man your not allowed to take a shot if I dont have a hand in your face.

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

yeah 2k website is f'ed up, but why doesn't that suprise me? Hopefully i'll be able to get on tomorrow night for my first game.

Miller 58? now for the snipers...

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

70 to 80% seems about right IMO! The only thing Ive noticed is there is a few players that start out at 100% PIP (or close to it) and then once they get a decent lead they pull it back in and get it down to avoid the PIP rule/s! I know it can't be helped and it would be way to much time etc to enforce it but it annoys the **** out of me! haha gives me a reason to get better in my D I gues!!

Attempted to have a game with my new squad last night against vikkit but had connection problems from the out set and it disconnected into the first! Can already see Mayo heading to the Trading Block soon as I don't like the feel of his shoot but damn he can slash to the paint!

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Maybe we could also add that you cant score more than 60 points per game from deep aswell

---------- Post added 13-07-2010 at 07:00 PM ----------

Hey Ian do you wanna game now? Im hanging out for one but no one wants one :(

The box scores were/are down for me too but only of games today. Past games I can see.

I'll send you a request for Mayo! I like that kid.

And yeah some people do that, e.g. Giddles - but I guess there is no way around that.

Unless they make a new element to the game where we can watch the game.

But then again, if I was playing someone, and we were like in the 2nd quarter and they had 35/40 points all scored in the paint, if it was really getting to me I would quit.

And I wouldn't expect that because I did I should get the auto-lost.

No doubt the mods would look kindly on the fact that the opponent has been cheesing like crazy for the entire game up to that point.

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Tried to get my 1st game of the season done. Decided I'd jump in headlong without having played with my guys in any practice or any some such. Came out of the blocks against nzgamer (quite bad lag compared to usual online games) 6/11 from downtown in each of the 1st 2 quarters, so 12/22 at the half! Battier was doing the most damage. He was so worried about Brooks and Martin after their 1st couple that he started leaving holes inside and Battier alone. He was 4/6 from downtown and leading my scoring with 15. Brooks had 13 and 6 assists. Beast had 8 boards and no other stats  Martin 15 and 4 steals...then suddenly the connection drops early in the 3rd, me up by 21...he sends me a message saying "Damn, I just worked out a way to stop your 3's", then goes offline...I cry foul! But I guess I'll reset it and try and go 20/22 from downtown in the 1st half next time I play him

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Did 2K just drop for everyone? Me and Bloods both got kicked out. I was having a shocker of the game. Had my family in the background and some annoying disturbances, anyway started well but found myself down by 16+ with about 4 minutes left. I thought that'd be it, but Bloods messages me and offers a reset!

I'll be quite happy to take that ;)

Then again a similar one happened against Ian in S1.

Wow, kick a man when he's down ;) But yeah sounds bit suss. I say forget it but do what you want.

2K website is down for maintenance, dunno if that relates to the game servers.

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Yep game servers are offline again!
I was on a mission tonight, lost 1 against Swish but got a couple back against Nick and Ian. Miller is mental i havn't known another player to shoot so well for such long periods. Its almost as if he knows when im struggling and starts nailing 3's from all over the place. Pretty happy i took the gamble on him in 3rd pick over a higher rated player, and to think i was going to grab Harden again

Yeah it dropped out on me and Nick playing a praccy match...mid 2nd quarter.

Well I would forget it...maybe...but then I don't get any stats! :( And since it was early in the 3rd there was technically time for him to still win, so the league rules mean it's a reset. I did message him though letting him know I wasn't too pleased about him quitting on purpose...I'll probably reset it. I'm not worried about whether I win or lose, more the having fun and actually playing.

Good luck in your 1st game John ;)

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

I think 70% PIP is plenty. As for Fastbreak points, i think the main purpose of the PIP rule is to stop players abusing scoring in the paint. I'm not sure a wide open layup on a fastbreak really counts as abusing the paint. If an NBA player gave up a wide open layup on a fastbreak to stop and pop a 3 pointer he has a chance of being shot by the coach.

Good point...yep discount FBP from the % calculation. I was thinking that yesterday a little, but then I was also craving a game and hitting some 3s...which was evident by my quit game with nzgamer

Unless that players name is Mike Miller he'll drop them all game on the pull up trey :D

Yeah gonna have to game plan for that against you mate! He was just starting against me and I could already see it was either going to be Miller shooting or nothing at all  Oh, and do we really have no match-up on the schedule???

Re: PS3 NBA2K10 Online Season

Good luck in your 1st game John ;)

Very unconvincing win against Cheeseman (Nets) and got completely smashed by Vikkit (Spurs) In both games I played horrible defence and had too many turnovers.
Also against Spurs, it was very hard to stop the drive and dish by CP3. which Vikkit almost uses exclusively.
He also has a very good handle on Ben Gordons' shot and lit up the 3 ball.
I'm finding myself to be too LeBron conscious. I could really light him up, but in the games I've played, I'm looking more at the extra pass when he is in position.

Oh well, hopefully with a few more games I will find the right balance.
