The Official LA LAKERS thread!!

yeah well done by the lakers!! they played great half court set Defense!! transition is another story Ron Ron played durant really well. Westbrook is going to be the problem in the series... not durant

Close...Fisher's lack of D is the real problem!

Thanks mate, looks like Artest halted Durant in that one. Westy had a good game though.
Should be interesting to see if OKC can do better next game

Spot on mate!!!!I'm not to worried at all about this bunch, like ive said before we have an advantage over the rest of the West...We got KB24!!!

Good solid game today just what we needed!!!Ron Ron did a nice job on Durant 9-24 or something like that i think Westbrook and Durant are going to be the only probs in this series!!!!Our bigs are too strong and long!!!Lets hope they keep up the intensity for GM2 WED!!!=D>

I haven't posted in this thread for a while...the Lakers regular season was over just after Xmas and was waiting for the real season to begin!

First of all - welcome back Drew! The Lakers are just too big and experienced for the younger Thunder...although not sure if I like the 'get a big lead then coast to the finish' game - Durant can eliminate any lead in the blink of an eye. Would like to see the boys play at least 3/4 and bench it up in the last 12 mins.

The road through the West is a rocky one this year, with a lot of teams that match up well against the Lakers...we will be hard pressed to advance. In the East however, the NBA has taken the unusual step of cancelling the playoffs and advancing the Cavs to the finals. :D

Solid start to the playoffs tonight...game 1 is always critical for Jackson coached teams. Bring on game 3 on Wed. =D>

Can't blame Fish. I'm sure his heart and effort is there. He's just too old, even young guys can't keep up with Russ. He's one of the fastest guys in the league.

Sorry, but I disagree. You can blame Fish for his lack of D...it isn't an age thing, he has sucked on D since his rookie year. Poor D + slowing down due to age = major issue. Of course, I could also blame Farmar for not stepping up to the plate...

I think fish needs to be replaced in the starting lineup next season, I reckon they go after Shaun livingston hes a FA and could sign him cheap. a nice big PG that we all know Phil likes

I don't think Livingston will work as a starter in Phil's triangle offense as he can't hit the 3

Too true. He isn't the right compliment. He's a great point guard who needs the ball in his hands to be productive. That's not necessarily a bad thing but not right for the Lakers.

Pivotal game 3 coming up in around 4 hours. Take this one and I'll gaurantee a sweep which is exactly what we want with another destined series against the Nuggets coming up.

But as always, one game at a time. Would like to see Ron shoot a little less tonight, i'll take a page out of Chaddy's book and say Fisher playing some D wouldn't go astray either since Westbrook runs amok everytime we play them and the longer we can keep Bynum and Gasol on the floor at the same time the closer we are to icing this one even though history says the opposite for those two.

Lastly, the less they depend on kobe the better, would be good to see him go to his on again off again 'facilitator' mode and ISO when needed although he had a decent game 2 compared to game 1.

Get it done Lakers! =D>

Almost got it done mate!!!Kobe was just smothered by Durant in that last QTR one that we let get away, all credit to OKC tho they been playing well so far but im more than sure that the Lake Show will come back strong in GM4 and look to wrap it up back in LA....

Ron can keep clamping down and playing good D on Durant, Pau is doing is thang!!!Bynum will continue to gain confidence, Kobe is going to have to shoot less and get other open!!!!Thats the key to GM4!!

I don't know if its just me, but I just can't see the fire and swagger in Kobe in game 3.
Maybe its the broken finger or bad back. I miss watching him dominate a game.

As much as I enjoy watching the young OKC Thunder, IMO its still going to be Lakers in 5 or 6.

i'll be in la on tuesday for game 5... going to pick up a ticket via ebay or stubhub... anyone got any ideas on best way to get there or advice on where best to get tickets?

From here on in this series is going to be a cracker! OKC smashed the Lakers today! LA won 1 quarter and that was the 4th by a point after OKC got it out to 30! I guess experience isn't everything, but I still think the Lakers will prevail unfortunately! Durant just keeps finding ways to elevate his game to another level and Westbrook is really an unsung hero for them getting it done big time in game 3 and 4!

Kobe and co need to lift big time and it's time for Kobe to take over in the later stages of the next 2 or 3 games!

The Lakers got something that I think they expected. "A series with these young Thunders that keeps on running."

They won game 2 by 3 points and if you really think about it, they just got to the finish line before OKC did in that one... The Thunders are really doing it on the defensive end also. They were at their best defensively even though they lost that game. They blocked 17 shots of the Lakers in game 2...

Its become an interesting one indeed!

Man Did the Lakers get their asses handed too them!!!!Westbrook, Durant Harden pretty much the whole team just pounded a Laker Team that too me really didnt wanna be there today!!I mean its like we were trying out there but we flat out out played...A few key things i think need to change in GM5 and the rest of the series if we want to progress to the next round...

:Lamar Odom needs to show up and do SOMETHING!!!ANYTHING!!!!PLEASE!!!

:Our Bench Farmar, Walton and those guys need to match the intensity of the Thunders bench!!

:KOBE, time to stop playing the " lets get everyone involved" game do your thing and take over the game when needed!!!
