The Official LA LAKERS thread!!

Good win today - not sure the Lakers "contained" Durant who had 31 but still a good win.

Just caught the second half now and yep, he had a decent game, 5th on the trot scoring 30 or more along with 10 rebounds 4 assissts and 4 steals, pretty impressive but we get the win all the same. Gasol and Odom cleaned the boards nicely and the franchise three combine for 68 with 31 bench points to seal the deal.

Next stop; Utah at 1300 hours. Dispite the fact that they're sitting just outside the 8 they've defended home court fairly well at 20 and 6 so it won't get handed to us.

Our only visit to Salt Lake City scheduled and the first time we visit only once in a season since 84/85. Never had no love for the Jazz, Malone and co. ended our season twice in the late 90's on their way to the finals so definitely not a game I want to see them drop, no matter how long ago that was, not forgetting this is just a regualr season game 10 years on and regaurdless of whether we ended their run last season. ;)

Take care of business and then enjoy the All-Star festivities.

Good to see Adam Morrison suited up, if he can get some minutes it means we've hit a healthy lead in the fourth...

Good home win for the Jazz in a playoff style game, always tough when we go there - definitely no Laker love in Utah. Fish had a couple looks to tie it with a three at the end there but it wasn't falling. Ah well, you get that.

Odom is beasting it with Bynum out, he definately plays better as a starter - and he's a fantasy stud.

I know Bynum is great but choose one or the other and move one of them out, it's a pure waste of talent and potential having Odom sitting on the bench.

I agree but i could just not see us getting rid of Bynum so i think Odom would have to go and i don't want that either.

Could always start Odom at SF and move him between the forward positions although i doubt that will happen.

He maybe happy to sit on the bench to ensure he is a Title contender, and if he is happy, I am sure Phil and the Lakers would be happy to have his talent on the bench and for backup when things like Bynum's injury.

He's one hell of a backup.

With Radmanovic gone, Odom may start once Bynum is back. The problem is Walton may get the nod and that's ok, aslong as it doesn't eat too much into Odoms minutes because the longer he's on the court, obviously the more impact he has on the game and the better his numbers are. That combination of Farmar/Ariza/Odom coming off the bench is golden, aslong as there's enough time for them to make an impact.

If they can get the rotation right where you're switching Pau between Center and Power Forward Odom can still step in and change the course of a game. But it's a double edged sword as that eats into Bynums minutes, they just gotta find a good ballance depending on who they're facing and I'm sure they will.

Unsure about that. Odom is still not that old yet, surely he'd want to be the main man on a playoff team. If Lakers don't win it this year I can see him gone instantly.

Kobe and Shaq on the same squad coached by Phill Jackson, just like old times. Perhaps the best combo of any position/players ever paired together. Definitely the best Guard/Center Combo. Anyone else hyped up about this? :)

East got a really good athletic squad, I think they almost have it locked. Will be good to see how this one plays out. Also interesting, Bron gets MVP last year, is Kobe looking for another? Be good if he got it given the circumstances or maybe Amare is looking to make some major noise with the trade rumors? He definitely has a reason to, might just give Phoenix a fine farwell perhaps? Or even Shaq? Old dog and self proclaimed 'Godfather of Basketball' teaching young dogs and God Sons alike new tricks...

Whatever happpens I hope it's a good one, but try and keep it in the West fellas!

Damn watched the highlights (won't say who won), but Lebron better make sure he's in the dunk contest last year he did some crazy dunk in the game this year. Yeah the East definately very athletic but you can never count out either teams, with the amount of talent on each.

The "best little man/big man combination" in Shaq and Kobe finally gonna play together, I wonder if they'll make much noise.. The West have a lot of legitimate size though, Dirk, Yao, Shaq, Amare and Tim Duncan.. the East only have Dwight.. But then again they do have D.Wade and Lebron haha.

Well after an entertaining Allstar Game where there was a reunion or sorts with the Diesel and KB24 capturing the MVP....

It was back to work against the Hawks!!

Very solid games by everyone today
Tho was abit dissapointed after having a massive 40PT 3RD to only score 11PTS in the 4TH...again we are blowing out teams by 20-25PTS and letting them back in the game!!!

Kobe:10PTS 4REBS and 2 ASTS.....28MINS
Trevor: 10PTS 5REBS and 2 ASTS.....19MINS
Fish: 14PTS 2REBS and 3 ASTS...

HUGE GAMES by PAU and LAMAR!!!!:thumbsup:

TRIPLE DOUBLE for PAU: 12PTS 13REBS and 10 ASTS!!!

LAMAR: 15PTS 20REBS 5ASTS!!!!
Now thats what we wanna see from Lamar whilst Drew is out!!!
He keeps playing like this well lets say should be a GREAT season Ending!!!

I know this is a foul but DAMN!!!Massive HOPS from Shannon Brown!!!!

I wouldn't be too concerned mate. Pretty much the whole last quarter was garbage time and they were trying to get Brown and Morrison on the Stats sheet which resulted in a few unnecessary turnovers and late baskets for ATL. Both players first minutes on the floor at home as a Laker so they were a little anxious and we were'nt focused on anything but them scoring pretty much. We were forcing it towards the end there, all starters sitting back watching with a well deserved rest. They were never getting back in this one. ;)

Was a good one. Atlanta pretty much came out from the start and told us what time it was, so they clicked together and dominated from the second on. Gasol with a triple double is just amazing and Lamar with 15 points and 20 boards!!! In previous games he's had 17 then 18 then 19 and said he'd go out and get 20 tonight. I want him to say he'll get 20 every night. Really impressed with LO lately, 'keep doin' what ya' doin'!'

I'd been holding off commenting on the All Star game and I hope we're not spoiling it for no one (I doubt it anyway), but how good was that? Shaq and Kobe get their third, while coached once again by Phill and co. and now up there with a select few that have been awarded 3 All-Star MVP's. Kobe dominated and considering how many minutes Big Diesel played he was deserving. Great to see and good to see that episode of the 'Lake Show' has kind of ended with both stars being civil in the public eye. I still say it's karma if Kobe rocks the mic late June. ;)

Dispite the loss in Utah I still say we're on fire right now, 43 and 10, yet to lose more than 2 games back to back and if you look ahead in the schedule, there's alot of easy wins there for the taking if we play our game right. Next stop Golden State where they always rise to the occaision with us, no matter how bad they're doing and in the eyes of a Warriors fan you'd say they're not doing too bad with three straight wins, one of those teams ironically the Jazz who they smashed at home.

Oh yeah, and that block/foul on Brown towards the end there, my Jaw hit the floor when he did that! That kid can get UP... :woot: =D>

Clutch shot tre by Fish just now to send this one into overtime against the Hornets. We got anhilated there in that 4th, almost a 'groundhog day' game hosting NO.

Get it done Lakers! :)

Lakers have a sick bench - better than NO's anyway. Kobe looked a bit rusty today.

A rusty 39 points 5 assists and 5 boards with a block and a steal to boot?

He didn't shoot aswell as can but rusty? Glad we got that one, don't need to give NO anymore of an edge than they already had, especially when we could be playing them again in LA in a couple months. Paul fouled out and so did Kobe depending on how you see it, but kobe stayed on the floor. Just one of those things. Good input once again from Odom and Gasol, they're getting concistency into their vocab finally.

Biggest disapointment was that fourth, our bench should have and could have finished this one off, but we get the win either way.

Yeah sorry mate I hadn't see the box score. All I had heard was that LAL had got the win, and I had watched most of the first half on ESPN - and it seemed like Kobe was pretty rusty on his jumper.

Turns out he had a sick game, I just checked out the box score.
CP3 too, with something like 16 dimes.

Well we got our next lot of back to back losses. I didn't see either game so can't really break it down. If the win/loss column says anything then we'll take care of Memphis tomorrow. Hopefully I'm home in time to watch... :)

Anyone see Ron and Kobe going at it yesterday? 18 of Kobes 37 against Houston comes in the last 5 minutes. Didn't see the game but apparently it went on practically all game, even getting in each others face at one point.

Check out Kobe's reaction when Ron tells him 'You're not ready for me'... This comes with something like thirty seconds left in the fourth, down six with Kobe at the line. Know when to stop!
