ShipMyCards - USA Address and Shipping Service

Long time lurker. Thought I would share my experiences. Unfortunately my parcel got held today so need to provide all the details which is going to fun 😊 I spoke to FedEx and the rep said anything sports cards from consolidators is being stopped as customs believe cards valued at 1000s are being undervalued. Someone made the comment that we need to protect Aussie businesses which I agree with. However what frustrates me is that I’m forced to go the the us if I want cards that the local market cannot deliver so it’s not as if this is impacting local sellers. Makes me also wonder why the sudden attention, wonder if the local businesses have seen impact on their volumes? Also I do my fair share of purchasing from local hobby stores. Very frustrating but is what it is.

I've got a card listed for sale that I can't de-list and add to shipment -

am I having a dumb dumb moment or has anyone had this issue before?

By the sounds of it, they're hand picking shipments with lots of singles.

I might stick to maybe a few whole sealed boxes then and hope that there's at least something of value in there to make it worth while. Has anyone else brought the boxes off SMC and would there be any types of boxes to avoid (do the cheapest boxes never pull anything good, certain brand/subsets notoriously bad?)

Big box of cards so probably an obvious one. But there’s so much cheap stuff in there so not sure why single collectors are their focus. I fully agree with your comment to try and go for the breakers as that impacts businesses here. However if you want a numbered card it’s pretty hard to just find it in oz

Do the scans and inventory of what you sent in as big as a document as possible.

As many pages as possible. I feel they're after people sending big cases and not individual cards that add up

If they see a 200 page document, they put that in the too hard basket. Not worth it for a couple hundred bucks of duty

Thanks mate for advice that’s what I did. Also I bought lots off whatnot so it’s not as if I can even itemise those.

Now moved from matraville to Melbourne airport
 
I've just requested a small shipment of singles with $562 declared value. Supplied the eBay order confirmations in the paperwork for SMC.

Let's just say that shipping fees start high and don't increase all that much the more cards you add into the shipment :mad:
