Use USPS or declare the exact amount. Undervaluing at that weight might be a risk. 4kgs probably odds on to get audited

That part is not new at all. They have said for years that they do not process “assembly orders”.
ShipMyCards is not an assembly order as you are sending from yourself to yourself. The property is yours once it arrives at SMC. Once you tell them this it processes through.
This has been the same for years that we randomly get the fedex rep that try’s to say it is an assembly order and can not be cleared.

I want to send some back soon and am a bit nervous about any hold and having to look for all my purchases and gifts etc etc - what a load of horse shit

Hey, new to the space and had a good read through the previous posts but had a few Q's for some of the veterans in here.
I was looking at SMC's services for their "card forwarding" and noticed the prices of the full boxes on their page, especially how much lower it is on there compared to what I saw elsewhere, are their boxes legit? Some of them are like close to a third of what you'd pay down here (before shipping costs but obviously buying a few and doing one bigger order is better than doing a number of small ones to save on that front) and the fact that they're still in stock is the confusing part, one would assume they'd be snapped up relatively quickly at those prices, just wanted to see what other's experiences were on that front.
Also, I was a bit worried about what was mentioned about customs cracking down on importing sports cards. Does that affect buying a few sealed boxes, especially if the boxes are all below $100 each? Obviously stating the total price for customs is easier when you don't actually know the true value until they're all opened but I was trying to figure out what you guys meant by them cracking down. If I (for example) bought say 10-15 cheaper boxes and it was still under the $1000 threshold in total, would Customs get grumpy with that? Obviously it looks a bit suspicious but I'm thinking worst case scenario, would they give me grief for it or is it more having a box of individual assorted cards that they're more concerned about as that could potentially be worth significantly more?
I'm not trying to run a shop or anything but I work a lot with kids and they're pretty keen on basketball and trading cards in general so thought probably better to get a whole bunch of cheaper boxes and hand out packs as prizes/gifts. Might even open a few myself for the thrill of it but I'd probably give away whatever I pull 9 times out of 10 anyway to someone who'd appreciate the individual cards more than me but yeah any feedback would be great before I sink some coin into it.
