So anyone who’s been a member of forums for a while will remember the bustling place this used to be. As fast as you could list things for sale or trade you would get a PM with interest. Great, long discussion threads were a regular occurrence and we ran some great comps (for fun with prizes and also no prizes).

facebook groups have created their own niche as there are so many users on there a lot anyway.

the Covid boom was crazy - box prices way up, heaps more RC speculation and all time sales highs for every card. Then as people could get out a bit more a lot dropped off and found other things.

I love the forum style. How can we bring people back and/or swing the momentum back from Facebook groups?

throw out some ideas. The best post as at end of 2023 will get a $100 value prize in time for Christmas. "Best" is at my discretion. I think that’s the fairest way. I don’t think most likes is going to work. Unless I see someone get 30 friends to join up and like their post. But then again , that’s a good thing too!

Mate, if you could figure out a way to get people off facebook you'd be a very, very rich man! I'll put ina good word with my mate Zuckers....

Hmmmm.... I'm away for a month. I'll think about it. Technology change perhap? Forums are outdated. Private Facebook? Plenty of opensource options out there. Slow merge.

You have surprised me @GarnettFan4Life
I was expecting another gif thread

Good thread mate,
I don't have FB so don't know if OCT is on there but if they aren't maybe its time we joined the masses with the aim of redirecting them to these forums? Post up the "show something off" threads on FB with a link to the whole page?
Apologies if this is already happening and if im creating a bunch of work for someone

Have no idea. Marketing is not my strong point. But I suppose if box prices were lower, product was more available and we had hobby stores where we could advertise the forum... Perhaps then, maybe....

Are the other Card forums suffering similar slumps in member participation, I had thought it was just the hobby in general.
Card pricing and postage in particular is what stopped me buying.

More than happy to contribute in any way I can to help the forum :D

I think its across the board.
Hobby Kingz is no more...
blow-out is nowhere near as active as it used to be.

I think part of the issue is that there doesn't seem to be many collectors left any more and a lot more rip and flip.
The recent boom over the past few years alot has come from Social Media people Gary V, Jake (or Logan whichever it was)Paul etc... so the people that saw that are obviously on those already and not on a forum so naturally look for groups on those platforms. All the breakers are on there posting the hits instantly so people already see all the cards.

Also the hobby seems to be getting younger and I would imagine a lot of people never knew forums existed or still exist as they only know social media.

How do we get people back to the forum is a good question.

The ozct fb page isn't super active so possibly doesn't bump on peoples algorithms and they forget about us or they don't know about.

With the hobby shows seemingly making a bit of a come back, the hangout in Melbourne was huge earlier in the year. Some sort of advertising maybe a flyer or give away sponsored by ozct at those events.

Im sure more posts will inspire more ideas here

Facebook is too much here and now.
All the good information gets buried never to be found again!
Yes there's a search function, however we've all used it and it's an absolute mess.

Forums provide historical knowledge and easy access to that information. The forum needs to be protected at all costs!
